Seizing the BOSS Template at the Start

Chapter 107: Chapter 88: Dark Valley

After arranging these matters, Baiyi walked out of the courthouse.

Among the 150,000 soldiers, 30,000 Bronze Upper Tier will definitely stay, as will 50,000 Middle Tier. The remainder are likely all Bronze Lower Tier professionals.

Now the normal expenditure of the legion has dropped from 150 million to 60 million. Even accounting for equipment maintenance and regular military needs, it would be at most 70 million a month, with lower months around 63 to 64 million.

Moreover, the salaries for various positions in the city have also directly dropped to 20 million. Including city maintenance and various expenses, it won’t exceed 100 million a month.

In other words, this round of layoffs can save more than 100 million a month.

With this money, not only can he use the most top-tier resources for everything, but he can also arm these 150,000 soldiers, greatly enhancing their combat effectiveness.

And there is still money left to develop the Inner City District.

As for the Outer City... everything can proceed as usual, as it is the cornerstone of orderly civilization; it should not be disrupted lightly.

Baiyi’s mood gradually lightened. Once the trade routes on Sabo’s side open, Dongwu City will soon enter a phase of rapid development.

Then he can start recruiting Alchemists. Once there are more Alchemists, the Inner City District of Dongwu City will become the most prosperous area in the entire Federation.

However, while his mood improved, many others began to feel displeased.

For instance, the Old City Lord, Eric.

He watched expressionlessly at the group of people crying and howling in the distance, suddenly feeling a bit disenfranchised. Originally, he had given out so many quotas to provide more opportunities.

But now, seeing these people with no ambition, he also began to doubt whether he had made a mistake.

”Do you think this is wrong too?”

He looked at his disciple: Badu.

As the Legion Commander of the Wucheng Army, Badu wasn’t particularly intelligent, but in this era, potential mattered more than intelligence, which is why he was the Legion Commander, with a task that required the least thought—defending the city.

Looking at Badu, who seemed somewhat at a loss, Eric casually waved his hand: ”I’ve said it before, everything in the city follows Baiyi’s orders. You may leave.”

”Understood.” Badu bowed respectfully, then left with big strides.

He wouldn’t think too much, but he had one advantage: he would follow the City Lord’s orders absolutely. Since the City Lord told him to leave, even if he didn’t understand, he would go back.

Eric looked at the sky, feeling somewhat melancholy. Coming from the slums, he knew what impact the current events would have.

But since he had chosen to let go, he wouldn’t interfere in any way. Once Baiyi reached the Gold tier, he could truly retire....

As the sound of orderly footsteps approached, Sifu led the Apocalypse Legion soldiers to expressionlessly drag away those kneeling on the ground.

Since these people were obstinate, they would all go to mining. After a few years, they would figure things out, as there are plenty of mineral resources belonging to Dongwu City nearby.

Baiyi hadn’t dissolved the Mineral Resources Division, which was enough to accommodate this group of people.

Outside the city, the Wucheng Army and Storm Legion were also in upheaval, with soldiers anxiously looking at their superiors, unable to prevent the reduction in legion quotas.

As Baiyi anticipated, all Bronze Middle and Upper Tiers were retained, while Lower Tiers purely depended on levels and professions.

Alchemists and Mages were unaffected, while Warriors and Assassins had to be at Level 15 to stay; those below Level 15 were forcibly retired.

As for those unwilling... in a world of Magic, true rebellion cannot occur. At most, the Mineral Resources Division would get more miners.

With powerful execution, the system of the entire Dongwu City was revitalized. In just three days, numerous barracks were demolished, and countless official residences were vacated, becoming Dongwu City’s resources.

The city suddenly had over 300,000 unemployed people, creating a boom for the Adventurer’s Guild, and allowing wealthy merchants to hire more Transcendents.

The steam train now connected the Federation’s southeast. Merchants who bought steam trains had started profiting and also needed many Transcendents, as areas between cities weren’t absolutely safe.

Besides having cities dispatch forces to clear dangers along the route, it was best to have Transcendents accompany the train.

These individuals weren’t actually worried about finding new paths.

The only change was a slight decrease in the price of hiring Transcendents in Dongwu City.

That didn’t matter much, as prices would rebound after a while.

After all, the salaries of professionals were linked to their strength due to the Knowledge Hall and the price of materials.

The Federation’s laws dictated the wages for professionals, allowing only increases, not decreases.

The lawmakers calculated that a Bronze Lower Tier earning 30 Gold Coins a month, after basic expenses, could purchase a small portion of knowledge or resources from the Federation for advancement.

Hence, 30 Gold Coins is the baseline price for a Bronze Lower Tier, and most wealthy merchants would only increase it slightly from there.

Baiyi watched as Aileen, a bit dazed, walked out, staring at him.

He asked with great interest, ”Awakened your talent? What talent awakened?”

”Haa~”

Aileen yawned and held out her hand, a white glow flashed, bringing a sense of healing.

Baiyi was somewhat surprised, ”A healing type? Not bad, what profession do you plan to pursue?”

”Haa~”

Aileen yawned again, somewhat muttering, ”Boss, raise... haa~ salary.”
