Chapter 72: Chapter 70: Players Whose Gear Exploded

The arguments on the forum continue, but this doesn’t stop players from playing this game. Even players in Dongwu City who suffered such a massive change haven’t quit the game.

This includes the player fed with itching powder, because of its high level of realism, they don’t want to waste their hard-won spot.

However, due to the same high level of realism, players soon felt hungry.

They quickly found an exit, and ten thousand players showed up in Dongwu City with bizarre movements.

Some rolled forward, some hopped along, and others inexplicably crouched low with their hands hanging behind them as they ran.

Ten thousand players: six thousand Elves, two thousand Human Races, a thousand Beastmen, and some other bizarre races, were doing strange antics on the street, immediately intriguing the residents of Dongwu City.

However, because of the oddity, no one bothered them for the time being.

The Guard Brigade watched the players’ antics and whispered, ”The realism of this game is too high. Remember not to mimic them when you come in; you’ll be looked down upon. If you don’t believe me, observe those pointing fingers. The details make it hard to believe this is just a game.”

A lot of people have left the live stream now, but there are still several million watching. These are left over from the earlier upheavals, clearly showing everyone’s curiosity about this fully virtual game.

As the players left the civilian area, some cheerfully bought food with their Copper Coins, while others constantly learned about their surroundings to check for available tasks.

The Guard Brigade continuously looked at the booklet in hand. As time passed, he couldn’t help but sigh, ”The currency in this world is somewhat messy, but if you fully dive into this world’s background, it makes some sense. They are forcing civilians to progress...”

”Look at this law.”

He showed the people in the live stream: ”No entertainment facilities other than casinos and taverns are allowed to be built in the civilian area.”

”This makes civilians lack entertainment and envy the nobles, which also implies letting them get into debt or addiction and struggle hard. Tsk, this wouldn’t happen in reality. Then there are these two laws.”

”There must be at least five schools in each city’s civilian area, providing subsidies according to credits, and schools are not allowed to charge any fees.”

”In any form, no barriers shall prevent civilians from entering the inner city. The entry fee shall not exceed ten Copper Coins, and the Knowledge Hall shall not set up barriers.”

”These two are the terrifying ones. The Federation pushes you into Hell but also blatantly gives you a way out. This despairing background—the one who can think up these laws is truly a genius!”

The Guard Brigade clicked his tongue in admiration and suddenly noticed some bullet comments and looked up.

Not far away at a corner, a player, full of joy, came out of a grain shop with a bag of Copper Coins, holding two bun-like objects in his hands, munching away.

Just as he reached the corner, under the gaze of the Guard Brigade, a goblin wielding a dagger suddenly lunged from the shadow and stabbed the player’s throat.

The next moment, the player’s body suddenly transformed into particles, and the buns in his hand and a money bag with about thirty Copper Coins fell to the ground together.

The goblin clearly paused, seeming startled by the player’s disappearance, and then quickly grabbed the fallen items and shrank back into the shadows, disappearing.

This seamless series of actions stunned the Guard Brigade. It had always been them players farming monsters for loot, and now it’s them getting farmed?

He instinctively felt his waist, decisively stored his Copper Coins in the panel, and clutched the law compendium in his hand tightly.

It’s dangerous even inside the city! And why is this game getting more realistic!

The constant reminders from those in the live stream—well, they’ve lost count of how many times they’ve exclaimed, ”Damn!”

In the mere two-hour beta test of this game, they’ve shouted ”damn” countless times already.

And it’s only been a brief two hours.

A variety of player complaints exploded on the forum, like saying they were scammed by an NPC, who promised equipment but ran off after getting the money.

Some even said they accepted a task, followed someone eagerly to a location, completed the task, only to be sold to the black market and locked in a cage. They had to commit suicide to escape.

The most common were those who painstakingly acquired task items, only to have them stolen or snatched away before turning them in.

Reporting to the Law Enforcement Team outside the city was useless.

The official response was, ”You aren’t dead, just get it back yourself. Just don’t cause a fatality.”

As these voices grew louder, players entering Dongwu City gradually became more cautious and conscientious amidst the cries of ”damn.” The game...is much darker than the outside world!

At least outside, they don’t dare to act so openly.

Mr. Baiyi chuckled as he looked at the forum. The characteristics of this game were much talked about in his past life; there are very few games daring to be so realistic.

Of course, it’s not entirely realistic. At the very least, a player’s small white briefs cannot be removed, and the entry food and water transform into hunger and satiation levels, preventing inappropriate acts from occurring.

It also serves to protect female players from inappropriate situations.

As for why it was much talked about and not harshly criticized, players would soon find out.

Before the disaster attribute of players became famous in ”Dawn Ascension,” the Thief Saint attribute was the most famous...

NPCs loot players, players have an undying attribute, and of course, they can also steal from NPCs. Anyway, the world’s laws are quite open, except for prohibiting killings inside the city.

He looked at an attribute in front of him, feeling more and more delighted.

”Your specialty, Light and Dark, has been activated. You can modify the Dark Side’s name, which has been changed to Alchemy Demon.”

He had already thought of how to experiment with his Dark Side and how to fleece the players.

Now, it’s just about waiting for the players to grow, and then it’s time to harvest.

Thinking it over, he dialed a number.

”Mr. Baiyi, is there something you need?”

A somewhat gloomy voice sounded, but you could hear the respect in it.

Mr. Baiyi smiled and said, ”Mr. Ma Yuan, is the black market interested in acquiring some Barrett?”

Ma Yuan paused, the gloominess in his voice reduced a bit, and the respect increased: ”Of course, I can take as much as you have. How much do you want to sell it for, Mr. Baiyi?”

”Just according to my shop’s price, but the black market needs to help me find Soul Crystal Cores, and I also need some illegal stuff.” Mr. Baiyi smiled.

”No problem, I have stock right now too. When do you plan to come, Mr. Baiyi?” Ma Yuan didn’t hesitate and immediately agreed.

Before, Mr. Baiyi only came to him to buy things, but now his status is different. It’s not about flattering, but he certainly won’t offend Mr. Baiyi.

”Let’s do it now. Just wait for me at home.”

Mr. Baiyi said, standing up and heading to the assembly line. The Barretts replaced at the Dawn Potion Shop were just about ready to be dealt with.

Moreover, some channels need opening.

Like...the equipment players worked so hard to obtain...
