Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 1340: Chapter 373: Survivor_2

But anyway, Chen Ming noted down this location and immediately began arranging for the spaceship to go there and take a look.

The results should come very soon.

Additionally, while reviewing this mission log, Chen Ming saw not only the information about the mission itself, but also another potentially valuable piece of information.

And that is the date the mission was executed.

This is a very important piece of news, as this point in time signifies many things.

However, he encountered a slight problem here.

The date of the mission was recorded using the Shimmering Civilization’s calendar, which is different from that of the Empire.

This is because a civilization’s calendar is usually determined by the orbital period of its home planet around its star.

Therefore, just by looking at the time recorded in the spaceship’s log, Chen Ming could not determine its corresponding time in the Empire’s calendar.

Moreover, this spaceship stopped functioning tens of thousands of years ago, leaving a gap of tens of thousands of years with no log records.

Unlike when he could reverse-engineer the earliest record time based on elapsed objective time recorded in the Scavenger Robot’s log, eventually confirming that the Scavenger Robots have been around for at least thirty thousand years.

Therefore, to find out the specific time when this reconnaissance ship executed its mission, he might need to make a special trip to the Shimmering Civilization Research Institute.

They might be able to help analyze the Shimmering Civilization’s timeline and create a table corresponding to the Empire’s calendar.

Chen Ming even felt that he probably should not just consider going; he must go.

Because he sensed that matters related to this wormhole would be very important for understanding the key timeline of the Shimmering Civilization.

Perhaps the Shimmering Civilization declined around the time when they discovered the wormhole and prepared to explore it.

His conjecture stems from his knowledge of the Scavenger Robot and the spaceship he just acquired.

These two items are definitely products of the same era, with negligible time difference between them.

Originally, the Scavenger Robot was equipped merely with mining drones, used to extract initial star system resources.

The Nanoforge it carried was also intended for building colonies,

Working together, they could construct infrastructure before the population of the Shimmering Civilization arrived.

However.

The Nanoforge was damaged for some reason, left unrepaired, and was eventually taken and installed onto itself by the Scavenger Robot, living on freely until now.

Additionally, the Scavenger dismantled material parts from the submerged Main Ships of the Mechanical Race to arm itself, claiming it was possible only due to wartime allowance.

This clearly indicates a war broke out during that period.

This war eventually led to the bankruptcy of the pioneering plan, and it seems the Shimmering Civilization even forgot this place.

The uncertainty arises because Chen Ming is unsure if the Shimmering Civilization perished during this wartime or if the war didn’t directly lead to their demise, but merely rendered them incapable of managing these frontier areas needing development.

However, with the reconnaissance ship that passed through the wormhole, Chen Ming realized one thing.

The Shimmering Civilization had not vanished during this time, but was gradually fading away.

Because the timing of the reconnaissance mission was either before the battle that caused the warship graveyard, or after.

If it was before the battle, and this reconnaissance ship had already passed through the wormhole, there’s no way the Shimmering Civilization wouldn’t provide rescue.

The strength of the reconnaissance ship is so terrifying, that even if it pierced into the monster’s body, as long as there was fuel, the people inside would not perish.

This was the conclusion Chen Ming came to after briefly studying the spaceship.

Therefore, the Shimmering Civilization definitely had ample time to rescue.

With the Shimmering Civilization’s technology, destroying this thing would not be a problem.

But they didn’t, and the Shimmering Civilization didn’t even have the means to rescue the reconnaissance personnel behind the wormhole.

So, while they didn’t necessarily perish, they at least began to decline from this point.

Thus, if the specific timing could be clarified, it might be possible to roughly determine the time of the Shimmering Civilization’s demise.

Once there’s a specific timeline, the Empire could use findings from many relics to prove the history of the Shimmering Civilization.

Understand how a civilization, once much stronger than today’s Empire, met its demise, to avoid following the same path.

Of course, this is something Chen Ming is very interested in.

Not only the technology of the Shimmering Civilization, but also the reasons behind its downfall.

He too needs to avoid treading the path of the Shimmering Civilization.

Especially as Chen Ming increasingly feels that many aspects of his Spiritual Energy share similarities with the Shimmering Civilization.

One-third of his Spiritual Energy foundation is the legacy left by the Shimmering Civilization, the Mechanical Race.

Another third has a very close relationship with the Thorn Insect Race related to the Mechanical Race.

The last third is the dimensional technology that Chen Ming doesn’t believe the Shimmering Civilization couldn’t have mastered.

Such coincidences make Chen Ming find it difficult not to ponder more, fueling his growing curiosity about the Shimmering Civilization.

Of course, all his current thoughts need to be verified by consulting the Shimmering Civilization Research Institute.

After conducting a thorough check of the spaceship’s database and the spaceship itself.
