Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chen Ming retrieved the memory fragment about the Death God Torpedo from the corner of his mind.

As he reflected on everything from the past, a question gradually formed in his mind.

Isn’t there something off about the Death God Torpedo?

Three years ago, when Chen Ming first arrived in Pirate Space, he got his hands on a Death God Torpedo.

Its power was indeed great, but that was relative to the frigates capable of launching the Death God Torpedo; this power might threaten cruisers but definitely could not sink a main ship.

After all, a main ship could withstand attacks from main-level weapons.

No matter how many Death God Torpedoes, it’s unlikely they could even break through a main ship’s shield, let alone truly threaten or sink it.

Moreover, Chen Ming remembered that the ship that was sunk was the main ship of a star realm’s military.

Military main ships generally come in two models: Offensive Level and Legion Level, both having extremely high armor strength, capable of directly resisting a direct hit from Dusk’s Microsievert Level Light Radiation Cannon, so how could a Death God Torpedo sink them?

Even a heavily damaged main ship wouldn’t likely be pushed over the edge by a single Death God Torpedo, right?

Furthermore, Chen Ming recalled this incident happened during a crackdown operation against pirates.

What kind of pirates could inflict such heavy damage on a main ship?

Though the pirates that warranted a military crackdown with main ships might be formidable, even so, it’s unlikely a main ship was truly sunk by pirates.

Back then, Chen Ming did not have enough understanding and knowledge about main ships.

So he treated it like a story, especially since the Death God Torpedo was quite effective at the time and saved his life during Dusk’s invasion.

But now, looking back, it all seemed odd.

Nevertheless, Chen Ming decided to temporarily ignore the question of how the Death God Torpedo sank the main ship.

Instead, he focused on the situation of the ”little madman” mentioned by his boss.

Chen Ming pondered, thinking that the little madman probably wasn’t the person who died on the main ship, but the one who sank the main ship.

The boss had relocated to such a remote area, likely because of a conflict with some powerful forces within the Empire.

Considering these things, the answer was already clear.

Chen Ming asked, ”So... is the little madman a pirate? And did he have a conflict with some regional army?”

”Yes.” The boss replied succinctly.

Chen Ming asked again, ”And he’s also a psychic? Otherwise, it wouldn’t be possible for the Death God Torpedo to sink a main ship, right?”

”Correct, his spiritual energy effects are very aggressive, and any damage caused by him, directly or indirectly, could be amplified by his spiritual energy. The extent of the amplification... well, you just have to look at how the Death God Torpedo was able to sink a main ship.”

”So at that time, he had a conflict with the military, which eventually led to a main ship being sunk, and he also died in that battle?”

”That’s about it.”

These few simple questions allowed Chen Ming to roughly piece together what had happened in the past.

The boss’s previous protege, the person referred to as the little madman, was a pirate, or became a pirate for some reason.

While not the leader of the pirates, he was at least an important figure.

A major conflict erupted one day, eventually leading to the pirates being eradicated, but a regional military mother ship was sunk by the Death God Torpedo, which had an unknown level of spiritual energy amplification.

The issue with the psychic could not be exposed.

So, the military had to accept this silent defeat, presenting the psychic’s matter as a normal pirate incident to the public, resulting in a shocking scandal.

Though in the eyes of those who knew psychic existences, this was simply a normal loss encountered during the suppression of a psychic.

But the commotion was too large for the news to be completely suppressed.

In the end, ordinary people, aware of some details, perceived the military as inept.

The matter, broadly speaking, was the military’s main ship being sunk, which not only embarrassed the star realm’s military involved but disgraced all regional forces.

The person responsible for this was precisely the product of the boss’s training...

Be it the conflict leading to the military’s scandal or the conflict leading to the little madman’s demise because of the military.

In any case, the boss could no longer remain in the Prosperous Star Realm.

This also explained why when Chen Ming first met the boss, there was no interaction between the boss and the local military, nor any intention to interact.

Instead, he drew slightly closer to the recently rebuilt Fourteenth Legion.

Though part of it was due to Chen Ming’s relationship with Bai Quan, there were certainly reasons stemming from the conflict decades ago.

As a level-6 psychic, the Empire couldn’t possibly implicate the boss just because of the misdoings of someone he trained, but they couldn’t disregard the feelings of their own military either, hence...

It’s safe to say Chen Ming had experienced a lot, and he understood why the boss had chosen to come here.

While explaining the past events to Chen Ming, the boss seemed a bit tense.

After all, the effects of what Chen Ming had returned with were clear, and whoever was entrusted with its use would share the same feelings.

The boss quickly composed himself, placing a hand on Chen Ming’s shoulder with determination, ”I need to go out for a few days. I’ll let you know the results as soon as I get them.”
