”Yao Chen, today we admit defeat. We’ll give you the fragment, but you must guarantee our departure.” Tian He Zi gripped the fragment and spoke slowly, his voice surly.

His posture made it clear: if Yao Chen didn’t agree, he would immediately destroy the fragment — a do-or-die stance.

Yao Lao’s aura stuttered slightly and he frowned.

Although the fragment was related to the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame, since back then even Hai Bodong could separate a small piece of the fragment to ”fish” with, it showed the material of the map wasn’t particularly sturdy.

Judging from the fact Hai Bodong could cut it apart, with Tian He Zi’s peak Nine-Change Dou Zun strength it shouldn’t be hard to instantly destroy the entire fragment in his hand.

Even if that thought felt somewhat off, because this concerned the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame, Yao Lao had to be extra cautious and wouldn’t gamble.

If something went wrong and the fragment were destroyed, there would be nowhere to cry — the three fragments remaining in Xiao Yan’s possession would become worthless.

So, after a moment’s hesitation, Yao Lao slowly retreated back to the summit, nodded, and said, ”Give me the fragment and you may leave. Don’t try any tricks, or I guarantee you won’t be able to die easily.”

At those words, the Three He Demon Ghosts all relaxed inwardly.

Although they were unwilling to part with the fragment, at least they kept their lives. As for whether Yao Chen would break his word and turn on them after taking the fragment, which seemed unlikely.

At this level, despite differing personalities, these strong figures generally valued personal credibility.

Of course, besides trusting Yao Lao, the Scorpion Demons had no other choice now. If Yao Chen really would break his promise in front of his two disciples and then kill the three of them afterward, they would have no recourse.

While these thoughts raced through their minds, Tian He Zi’s hands did not hesitate; with a flick he sent the fragment flying toward Yao Chen.

Yao Lao reached out and grabbed the fragment, examined it carefully, then smiled faintly. It was indeed the last fragment, complete and not missing anything.

”Can we go now?” Tian He Zi asked, forcing down his nervousness.

”Of course.” Yao Lao nodded. ”You’re not worth my breaking a promise over.”

At that, the Three He Demon Ghosts felt both anger and relief.

All right, Yao Chen, you’re impressive.

The three exchanged a glance, and a vicious glint passed across their eyes. This matter would be settled in the future.

”We’re leaving!” Tian He Zi snorted coldly.

They turned and began to walk — naturally, toward Xiao Yan’s direction. Xiao Yan frowned inwardly but moved slightly aside to give them room. However—

A violent energy fluctuation erupted from the other side. A colossal black-scaled hand, a thousand zhang in size, ripped across the void and, like a world-blocking palm, came crashing down toward the Three He Demon Ghosts.

”Huh?!”

”Attack together!” Tian He Zi roared.

Their Dou Qi surged, forming three massive columns of energy hundreds of zhang high, which slammed against the towering hand.

Boom.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

When they collided, a terrifying gust of wind rippled out and shattered the surrounding space inch by inch.

Nearby thousand-zhang peaks were ripped apart by the aftershock.

”Hmph!”

The devastating gale swept over them. The three staggered back three steps, groans escaping their throats — they had clearly taken a loss in that clash.

”Did I say you could leave?”

The one who struck was Wei Yang.

Xiao Yan’s eyes flickered and a smile formed in their depths.

”This kid’s strength is actually this terrifying?!”

Against the three combined, they had all clearly been pushed into the disadvantage by a single exchange; the faces of the Three He Demon Ghosts changed.

”Yao Chen, what do you mean?” the Three He Demon Ghosts glared angrily at Yao Chen.

No way — what madness possessed the old man? What grudge? What resentment? Would he really break his word just to keep the three of them?

”What do you mean? I haven’t stopped you from leaving, so what are you looking at me for?” Yao Lao said evenly, hands folded behind his back.

At his words, the Three He Demon Ghosts relaxed and then all stared straight at Wei Yang.

”Young man Wei Yang, we handed over the fragment and your master agreed to let us go. What do you mean?” Tian He Zi asked, frowning.

He had almost called him ”kid,” but stopped — the youth was already a Ban Sheng and far stronger; calling him ”kid” would be disrespectful and boastful, so he corrected himself.

”My master did agree to let you leave, but I did not.” Wei Yang said coolly.

”You want to stop us? Wei Yang, I don’t think the three of us have offended you, have we?” Tian He Zi forced back his anger.

”Yes, you have.” Wei Yang’s tone turned domineering. ”Because you disgust me and I don’t like you. Also, the look in your eyes when you tried to leave just now made me very displeased.”

”Let you go and leave me with future revenge? I don’t like leaving trouble behind. I don’t want you constantly thinking about how to come back and take revenge, so it’s better if you die!”

As his words fell, Wei Yang’s figure flashed and he appeared in front of the three like a specter, slapping his palm down.

Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame!

A black sun materialized in his palm and swelled violently, falling like a meteor.

The Three He Demon Ghosts’ hearts jolted and they dared not be careless; they joined hands and slammed out barrage of punches to block.

Rumble—

A small mushroom cloud rose into the air.

The void shattered.

Scorching black flames rampaged wildly, piercing through the skies. A massive black shockwave rippled outward, annihilating everything in its path.

Pff!

Three battered figures, their clothes torn to shreds, shot out from the center of the explosion.

Tian He Zi’s hair was a mess, his beard curled and singed, a faint burnt smell wafting off his body. His robes were scorched in several places, and his face was dark with fury. He had been careless — never expecting that this master and disciples trio would shamelessly twist their words like this.

However, since it was Wei Yang who had attacked, it technically couldn’t be counted as Yao Chen breaking his word. After all, Yao Chen had promised, but what did that have to do with Wei Yang?

Tian He Zi’s eyes flickered sharply before suddenly shifting toward Xiao Yan, who stood off in the distance watching with arms crossed.

His voice turned cold. ”Third brother, that kid is the weakest. Go and capture him. But be careful — don’t hit too hard, or it might provoke that old man Yao Chen to intervene. You just need to take him down.”

Wei Yang’s displayed power was far too terrifying. The three of them had no confidence of escaping unscathed.

So rather than charge head-on, it was better to take a detour — capture Xiao Yan and use him as a bargaining chip to negotiate their retreat. Whether Yao Chen would stand by while his disciple was captured... that wasn’t something they could worry about now.

This was like a drowning man clutching at a straw — pure desperation and gamble.

”Understood.”

At those words, Ren He Zi glanced at Xiao Yan in the distance, then at Yao Chen, who stood watching calmly. He nodded and said coldly, ”A mere One-Change... give me a few minutes.”

As soon as the words left his mouth, he stomped down hard on the void, and his figure shot out toward Xiao Yan like lightning.

Meanwhile, Tian He Zi and Di He Zi both erupted with their Dou Qi, not retreating but surging forward instead, charging madly toward Wei Yang, who was calmly walking out of the dissipating explosion’s aftermath.

”Go all out! Buy time for the third!”

”Got it!”

”Oh? Trying to play the ’Attack the enemy’s weak point.’ trick? Interesting.” Wei Yang’s gaze swept over them, immediately grasping their plan. A faint smirk curved his lips.

Swish! Swish!

He spread his palms, then curled his ten fingers into claws. His fingertips extended sharp talons that gleamed with a cold, metallic edge.

With a casual swipe, the recently mended void was once again torn open — five long, black crescent-shaped claw marks slicing through space, ripping toward Tian He Zi and Di He Zi.

”Well then, lately I’ve been working on a claw technique called... Claw Rending Void. I suppose I can test it out on you.”

As his voice fell, his figure flickered like a ghost, vanishing and reappearing continuously.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

One after another, streaks of black claw marks appeared, ravaging the surrounding space until it resembled a shredded cloth — twisted and broken beyond recognition.

Zzzt! Zzzt!

Lines of blood appeared across Tian He Zi and Di He Zi’s bodies, spraying scarlet mist into the air.

”Hm?”

On the mountain peak, Yao Lao stood with his hands behind his back, watching. When he saw Ren He Zi suddenly lunge toward Xiao Yan, his brows furrowed.

He had indeed promised not to intervene — because he knew Wei Yang’s temperament well enough to be sure the boy wouldn’t simply let the three old devils walk away. That was why he had agreed so readily.

But that didn’t mean he would stand by and watch Xiao Yan get hurt without doing anything. Just as he was about to make a move—

He caught sight of Xiao Yan’s eager expression, and his brow lifted slightly as his hand paused mid-air.

”Master, please don’t step in yet. I want to see how strong I’ve become,” Xiao Yan’s voice rang softly in Yao Lao’s ears.

”A One-Change against a Six-Change?” Yao Lao chuckled helplessly. ”You brat... very well, I’ll let you try.”

He still had some faith in Xiao Yan’s combat ability. Even if he couldn’t defeat Ren He Zi, he should at least be able to protect himself. So Yao Lao decided against intervening — besides, he was also curious to see just how far his two disciples’ strength had come.
