**

The battle of the twin suns continued for quite some time before the Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame was the first to falter. It realized something was off — its energy was depleting far too quickly, far faster than the normal rate of consumption during such an intense clash.

At first, it didn’t pay much attention, thinking it was just normal exhaustion from the fight. But gradually, it sensed that something was wrong.

It was growing weaker bit by bit, while the black sun across from it not only showed no signs of weakening — it was actually getting stronger the longer they clashed.

”Human, you... what did you do to me?! You’re secretly siphoning my energy?!” The golden sun roared furiously, its tone filled with rage and disbelief.

”Hehe, what do you mean secretly? I’m clearly doing it out in the open. You just noticed it a bit late, that’s all.” Wei Yang replied with a grin, not even bothering to deny it.

”You... despicable!” The golden sun’s voice trembled with fury.

Damn this human! Did he have any idea how difficult it had been to accumulate this much energy? It was something painstakingly gathered over countless years, little by little!

Now, it had to stand there helplessly as that shameless human drained it away. The feeling was worse than death itself. The worst part — it couldn’t even stop him. It didn’t know how the human was doing it, so what could it possibly do to prevent it?

”Don’t panic,” Wei Yang chuckled softly. ”Anyone who fights me usually ends up in this situation. You’re no exception.”

Compared to the golden sun, Wei Yang appeared much more relaxed. Although maintaining his ultimate move, Black Sun Calamity, still consumed a tremendous amount of energy, he was now in the Ban Sheng realm — far stronger than before.

Back when he was just a Dou Zun, every bit of energy mattered, and he had to fight conservatively. But today, he could finally afford to be extravagant.

Moreover, since he was absorbing energy from the Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame as a supplement, his stamina was practically endless. So, there was no need for him to rush. Releasing the Black Sun Calamity so recklessly — this was the most extravagant he had ever been.

Time passed.

The golden sun could no longer bear it. The continuous drain was becoming unbearable. Gradually, its aura weakened, and it began to withdraw, shifting from offense to defense. In this strange space, the golden radiance started to recede while the black light pressed in closer and closer.

Like a drop of black ink spreading across water, it quickly overtook the golden hue, occupying more and more space. Eventually, the golden light contracted completely, defending only a ten-meter radius, refusing to yield an inch more.

By doing so, its consumption decreased significantly. The black light, facing no further resistance, expanded wildly. In the blink of an eye, it dominated the entire vast space. This place was now Wei Yang’s absolute domain.

The golden sun, in contrast, looked utterly pitiful — like a wronged little wife watching a brute storm into her home and do whatever he pleased. All it could do was cower in a corner, clinging to the last of its dignity while letting the rest of its territory fall without resistance.

Soon after, the power of the black light began to gradually weaken. Though the black sun still radiated, maintaining the absolute domain, its might had clearly diminished. This was normal — it was a sustained release now, not the full eruption of Black Sun Calamity.

Having gained the upper hand, Wei Yang decided to take a short breather. They remained deadlocked for a while longer.

”Human, let’s talk.” The golden sun finally spoke again.

”Talk? Weren’t you the so-called Emperor? Already can’t take it? Is this you admitting defeat? Haha! To be honest, I preferred you when you were all arrogant and full of yourself.” Wei Yang sneered.

”Human!” the golden sun bellowed furiously.

”Always ’human this’ and ’human that’. What, do I not have a name you can call me by?” Wei Yang huffed. ”Your attitude is really starting to annoy me.”

The golden sun fell silent for a moment before asking, ”...What’s your name?”

”Wei Yang,” he said flatly.

”Alright, Wei Yang. Let’s talk.” The golden sun’s tone softened slightly. ”This stalemate benefits no one. Why don’t we just call it off here?”

”Heh, stalemate? You must be joking. Fine by me if we keep it up. I don’t mind.” Wei Yang chuckled lightly.

”You—! Human, don’t go too far! I’m not afraid of you, I just don’t want us both to end up badly hurt. Stop now and leave! Otherwise, if you force me to fight to the death, you won’t have it easy either!” the golden sun roared, clearly frustrated.

”Then go ahead, fight to the death. I’ll be waiting.” Wei Yang’s tone was calm, almost mocking.

”Human, don’t push me~!” the golden sun howled.

”I’m pushing you. What can you do about it?”

”...” The golden sun’s light trembled violently, shaking with rage.

Wei Yang sighed and shook his head. ”Should I call you stupid, or are you just pretending to be? I managed to enter this place, and you still don’t get it?”

”You... you were sent by that old man, Light Emperor?!” The golden sun’s voice trembled with sudden agitation upon hearing his words.

”You already know the answer in your heart, so why bother asking?”

”Sure enough... you really are connected to him! Where is he? I want to see him! I want to ask him why he trapped me here for all these years?!” The golden sun roared furiously.

”You can’t see him. He’s already dead,” Wei Yang said calmly.

”...Dead?” The golden sun froze.

Then suddenly—

”Haha, dead? Good! Serves him right! The heavens finally opened their eyes! He deserved to die! Hahahaha~” It burst into wild laughter, the sound filled with both madness and relief.

Trapped here for endless ages, cut off from the sky, enduring the boundless torment of solitude — only the heavens knew how it had survived all these years.

How could it not hate him?

”As a Heavenly Flame, from the moment you were born, your fate was sealed. You were destined to be controlled by others, to become a source of power in someone else’s hands.

Throughout history, there’s only ever been one exception the Tuo She Ancient God. Even he was unique, blessed with great fortune, and only succeeded after devouring countless Heavenly Flames.”

”If Light Emperor hadn’t hidden you away back then, you would’ve become nothing more than nourishment for Tuo She Ancient God’s growth. You would never have lived to reach this point.”

”Of course, from your perspective, hating him is natural. No one can blame you for that.”

”He did imprison you out of selfish motives, but at least he protected you — allowed you to grow safely and survive until today, rather than ending up as another name on Tuo She Ancient God’s menu.”

”Back in Tuo She’s era, nearly every Heavenly Flame that existed was devoured by him.”

”So perhaps what seems like misfortune wasn’t entirely bad luck. Who can say what’s truly right or wrong in this world?”

Wei Yang shook his head and sighed softly. ”This world has always been cruel — survival of the fittest. Either you devour others, or you get devoured yourself.”

”Everyone’s fighting for something. And as a Heavenly Flame, being controlled by someone else... that’s simply your fate.”

”What Tuo She Ancient God? What menu? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

The golden sun slowly calmed its agitated aura.

”Heh, after all that talk, aren’t you just here to control me as well?” It sneered. ”Do you really think you’re qualified?”

”Of course I am,” Wei Yang said confidently. ”I’ve already subdued many Heavenly Flames — you’re hardly special. Since I dared to come, I naturally came prepared.”

As he spoke, the seals in his hands began to shift rapidly, forming a series of intricate and mysterious hand signs.

”That should be enough. I won’t waste more time playing with you.”

As his voice fell, an invisible ripple surged outward from his body, spreading rapidly through the space.

Buzz~

The ripple swept across everything.

In an instant, the golden sun trembled violently, its aura collapsing inwards at an alarming rate. Moments later, its blazing form began to disintegrate, collapsing from a massive golden sun into a spinning disk-sized mass of golden flames.

At the heart of that flame, a faint golden rune appeared, emitting a gentle and warm light.

”You... human, what did you do to me?!” The golden flame screamed in panic, unable to move, as if it had been sealed.

Wei Yang didn’t reply. His hands continued to weave seals, faster and faster. Waves of vast soul power surged forth from his body, pouring through the invisible ripple and into the golden flame, fusing directly into the golden rune at its center.

With his mid-stage Heaven Realm soul power — far surpassing the Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame — and the assistance of Light Emperor’s ancient imprint that remained within the flame’s source, the process of subjugation was utterly one-sided.

The Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame couldn’t resist at all. It could only watch helplessly as everything unfolded.

A short while later—

The faint golden rune faded away, and Wei Yang successfully branded his own Soul Imprint into the core of the Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame.

Hoo~

He slowly stopped his movements, exhaling softly with a satisfied smile. With a thought, the black sun dissipated. He stepped forward, arriving before the golden flame. Now, the golden flame floated silently in mid-air, burning steadily.

Its heat remained terrifying, but it no longer posed any threat to Wei Yang.

”So it was that old man’s mark left within my core... Human, you... I’ll fight you to the death!” A trembling, resentful voice came from within the flame, filled with rage and sorrow.

But no matter how much it screamed, it couldn’t move an inch. Its body, its strength, even its very essence — all were now under Wei Yang’s will, bound by the faint golden rune of Light Emperor. The only thing it could still control... was its pitiful consciousness.
