Seeing this scene, Light Emperor was not angered — instead, he laughed. With a thought, he actually took the initiative to withdraw his own light of Yang, allowing that gray radiance to wash over him freely.

Buzz~

Because of his deliberate restraint, the gray light met no resistance, and its spread suddenly accelerated.

In an instant, it filled every corner of the vast space.

The entire realm became shrouded in a hazy gray mist — it had now become the domain of that gray sun. Within the endless gray radiance, only a faint golden sun hovered quietly, guarding the last bit of its territory.

”So this is the Power of Life and Death?” Light Emperor stood bathed in the golden sun’s light, resisting the invasion of the gray glow.

”Such a mysterious power... and so domineering,” he murmured softly, deeply feeling the strange profundity within it.

Though the force seemed calm and without sound or pressure, Light Emperor standing within it — could feel its terrifying nature. This felt like a power from a higher dimension.

His emotions were complicated, yet his face carried a faint reverent expression as he tried to comprehend this mysterious force.

Even as a mere remnant thought of an Emperor — with vision high above the mortal realm — this was the first time he had ever witnessed something like it. After a long silence, he sighed softly.

”We were wrong... all of us were wrong. We spent our whole lives pursuing power, yet we never realized there existed such an incredible force — one that mortals could actually comprehend and command. Truly, we were frogs at the bottom of a well... how laughable.”

”Compared to this, Dou Qi is far too weak!”

They were not on the same level at all — as different as heaven and earth. This... was power that truly touched upon the essence of the world!

Light Emperor slowly closed his eyes. His expression was mixed — sorrowful, yet filled with quiet joy.

”Before my remnant fades away, to have witnessed a force of such higher order... I have no regrets.”

The endless gray light gradually receded.

High above, the faint gold and the deep black suns once again floated opposite each other. Within the black sun, Wei Yang’s eyes were still closed, his spirit immersed in the profound realization he had just experienced.

After a while, he slowly opened his eyes. The black sun dispersed, revealing his figure. He bowed deeply toward the golden sun and said gratefully, ”Thank you, senior, for your guidance.”

That bow came from the heart — genuine and full of respect.

This exchange had been without reservation. Light Emperor had shown his path completely, hiding nothing. At the end, he had even guided Wei Yang personally, passing down his own enlightenment without the slightest hesitation.

It was precisely because of such selfless guidance that Wei Yang had been able to truly step into the threshold of thePath of Life and Death — He had truly entered the path!

The golden sun faded, and Light Emperor’s figure appeared once more. This time, there was no imperial majesty about him — instead, he seemed like a gentle elder, smiling kindly.

He sat cross-legged in the void and accepted Wei Yang’s bow calmly. With a chuckle, he said, ”You and I both gained what we sought. Rather than saying I helped you, it would be better to say —

I wished to witness this higher form of power myself. Besides, this is the very reason for my existence. To leave something behind for those who come after... it makes all these endless years of waiting worthwhile.”

Wei Yang remained silent, his respect deepening. This was a worthy Emperor. He took a few steps forward and sat cross-legged not far from Light Emperor.

”You don’t need to act so formally,” the Emperor said with a hearty laugh. ”I am merely a fragment of thought, left behind to complete a mission long ago.”

”When my true self left this remnant behind, it was with the hope that before departing this world, I could leave something — anything — for it and for the future generations.”

”Born of this world, raised by it, and returning to it. Since we have drawn strength from heaven and earth, it is only right that we return something to them in the end.”

”Now, I feel at peace... because in you, I see a far greater future.”

”You are remarkable, young one. The path you walk is broader than ours. Your future will take you higher and farther than any of us could ever reach,” Light Emperor said with deep emotion.

Wei Yang pressed his lips together and, after a moment, asked softly, ”Senior... may I ask — back then, why did you and the other Emperors leave? What was it that you all went to do?”

”We... they... what exactly they went to do, I am not entirely sure,” Light Emperor replied after a pause, his gaze distant and complicated.

”I only know that the evil demons from beyond the heavens had arrived, seeking to bring ruin upon this world. Then, the will of the world — along with an even higher will — descended and called upon us, ordering us to face those enemies from beyond.”

”Evil demons from beyond the heavens,” Wei Yang muttered with a frown. As expected — it was them.

Light Emperor glanced at him and continued, ”The world’s will told us that once we departed, it would seal itself away for protection — withdrawing all traces of its presence and severing every connection with the outside realms. It would exile itself into endless nothingness.”

”In other words, even if my true self and the other Emperors managed to defeat those demons from beyond, we would likely never find our way back. We... were abandoned by the mother realm.”

His voice was tinged with melancholy — yet held no resentment.

Compared to the safety of the Mother Realm, and the countless living beings within it, even the Emperors were insignificant. The mother realm had its reasons — sacrificing the few to protect the many.

When compared to the countless fragile lives still living within her, the world naturally valued them — and her own survival — far above even her strongest children who had gone beyond.

Because to the Mother Realm itself, the ”Emperors” were nothing more than grown-up children—those who had already matured and needed to go out and survive on their own.

Cruel? Perhaps.

Wei Yang listened quietly. As he followed the Light Emperor’s narration and connected it with the fragments he knew from the original story, a general outline began to form in his mind.

The extraterrestrial fiends had indeed come—they had found the Dou Qi Continent.

But before that, the world will had already sensed danger. Together with the Great Thousand World Will, it summoned all the Emperors to fight against the enemy beyond the skies.

Then, that sly Dou Qi World Will, for the sake of self-preservation, took the opportunity to seal itself away, withdrew every trace of its aura, severed its connection to the Great Thousand World, and banished itself into the depths of the void to hide.

That was why afterward, the Dou Qi Continent had no more Origin Qi. The little that remained was consumed bit by bit—until nothing was left.

This led to the tragedies of those like Yellow Spring Demon Saint, Purifying Demonice Lotus Saint, Xiao Xuan, Hun Tiandi, and Zhu Kun—peerless geniuses who were forever trapped before that final step, unable to advance a single inch, ultimately forced into extreme paths.

Otherwise, each of them could have become an Emperor.

But was the World Will wrong? Not really.

It was merely acting out of instinct, for the sake of its own survival. After all, even it was struggling to sustain itself—how could it still have the strength to create more Origin Qi?

To give birth to a single Emperor was an enormous burden on any world. In truth, it was already doing well—far better than countless worlds that had been fully devoured by the fiends.

Those worlds had fallen into despair; the lives within were treated worse than livestock.

Just look at the world where Martial Ancestor Lin Dong resided—one that was already under siege by the fiends. The struggle there was endless and brutal.

By comparison, the Dou Qi Continent was doing quite well. At least it was safe, even if no one could break through to Emperor. Even if someone did become Emperor, what then? Wouldn’t they just be another sacrifice thrown into the slaughter?

Those who had been summoned by the Great Thousand Will to fight the extraterrestrial fiends—the many Emperors—were most likely all gone by now. Even Emperors couldn’t withstand the fiends.

In Lin Dong’s world, there had been Emperors too—like the Symbol Ancestors—and in the end, they had all perished. So, the Dou Qi World Will probably saw through it all.

To it, geniuses like Xiao Xuan or Purifying Demonic Lotus Saint were nothing special—raising them would only waste precious energy, and sending them out would just mean sending more corpses to the battlefield.

Resources were scarce—it couldn’t afford to waste them. Every bit had to be used on the edge of the blade.

Besides, the Great Thousand Will was also involved. Who’s to say the two wills didn’t have their own secret agreement—quietly scheming, waiting to make their move?

Because when the Great Thousand Will was pushed to its limits, it would retaliate. And the ”Children of Destiny”?

They were the ones born to turn the tide at critical moments—the favored sons of Heaven, chosen as its representatives. Even a cornered rabbit will bite back—how could the Great Thousand Will be any less ruthless?

The evidence spoke for itself.

In one world, there appeared Martial Ancestor Lin Dong, who gathered all seven ancestral symbols into one body and rose to power at an incredible pace.

In the Dou Qi Continent, there was Xiao Yan, who devoured Heavenly Flames to become Emperor, likewise rising in record time. Whether there were others being nurtured elsewhere was unknown—

But one thing was certain: Lin Dong and Xiao Yan were two of the most successful examples. The Dou Qi Continent and Lin Dong’s world were both already considered powerful lower planes—rare among the Great Thousand World.

After all, any world capable of nurturing nearly ten Emperor-level beings was extraordinary. In the Great Thousand World’s standards, Emperor and Ancestor levels corresponded to Spirit-Grade Heavenly Sovereign, a rank scarce even in that vast realm.

When Lin Dong and Xiao Yan rose to the Great Thousand World, their slaughter against the fiends was nothing short of ferocious.

One guarded the Endless Fire Territory, the other ruled over the Martial Realm—two towering bastions the fiends could not easily cross. But even that wasn’t enough. So, the Great Thousand Will brought forth Mu Chen.

His growth speed was beyond absurd—faster than anyone before him, as if reality itself bent to make way. In a short span, he leapt directly to Sovereign—a feat so outrageous it defied logic.

Without the Great Thousand Will’s favor, who would ever believe it?

Of course, in this timeline, something slightly unexpected happened. The Dou Qi Continent produced Wei Yang—an outsider not in the original plan. The Dou Qi World Will took one look and was thrilled.

”Oh~ this kid’s got potential. Promising indeed. I like him.”

Well then—since one sheep or two, it’s all the same to herd—why not go all in?So it did.

Every last bit of its remaining essence was invested.A full send!

Look at Wei Yang’s journey—was his treatment any worse than Xiao Yan’s?

He got the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame, a mysterious Heavenly Flame of unknown origin. Then the Life Spirit Flame, ranked fifth among all. Both obtained near the Jia Ma Empire.

One came from deep within the Tagore Desert, the other from the Magic Beast Mountain Range.

Even the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame along the way was a lucky bonus, while Ghostly Poison Flame and Nine Serene Wind Flame seemed to fall into his lap as if fate itself had planned it.

The black iron scroll containing the Light Emperor’s remnant thought? Delivered right to him in the desert the moment he arrived.

An unexpected appearance of You Hun Zun Zhe at the Alchemist Grand Meeting? Also bringing along the key to an ancient ruin hidden in the void—again, straight to Wei Yang.

Everywhere he went—opportunity after opportunity.

That once barren northwest corner of the continent was practically transformed into a land of endless fortune. Then came the Central Plains—where he fathered twins, one with Pure Yang Body, the other Yin-Yang Body!

If that’s not favoritism, what is?

The World Will was practically force-feeding him blessings. Afraid that if it gave too little, he might not make it to the top.
