In the back mountain of Falling Star Pavilion.

Morning sunlight crept over the horizon as the first rays of dawn touched the earth.

Wei Yang sat leisurely on the grass, sipping a cup of tea.

Not far away, the two little girls, Wei Shuo and Xiao Xiao, were sitting cross-legged on a pair of pure white jade meditation cushions, their tiny faces full of focus and seriousness as they cultivated with eyes closed.

Speaking of those white jade cushions—they were actually made from a precious piece of Core Mother Jade, which Wei Yang had brought back from the Pill Realm years ago when he obtained the Core Soul Marrow.

The Core Mother Jade was a miraculous type of jade formed from the power of the earth over countless years. Because of the earth’s steady and heavy nature, this jade possessed an extraordinary effect—making it an incredibly rare treasure beyond value for cultivators.

When used during cultivation or alchemy, a cushion made from the Core Mother Jade could greatly suppress violent energy fluctuations within the body, bringing a sense of calm and stability. With such an item, the risk of qi deviation was reduced to almost zero.

Now that the two little ones were just beginning their cultivation journey, giving them these jade cushions to use was absolutely perfect. Beside them sat Yao Lao, watching closely with one hand stroking his beard.

His soul perception was constantly spread over the two girls—if he detected any mistake, he would immediately correct it. The two little girls were personally being taught by Yao Lao himself. Every day, they were required to cultivate for half an hour before being allowed to go play.

At their age, they were naturally full of curiosity and energy. So even with good talent, their cultivation progress could only be considered basic—just like children learning in kindergarten. Each day, Yao Lao would teach them a little bit, and the rest of the day was mostly left for play.

After all, they were still only a few years old. Expecting them to sit still for hours with no distractions would simply be too much. At this stage, it was more about gently guiding them—building knowledge and laying the foundation.

If they advanced too quickly, their bodies and minds wouldn’t be able to control the power properly, which could cause real harm. As for cultivation techniques, Yao Lao naturally didn’t start them on anything complex. The simpler, the better—that way, there’d be no mistakes.

Everything now focused on simplicity and ease of learning. In another two or three years, when their temperament matured, Yao Lao planned to craft unique cultivation methods suited specifically to each of them.

Only then would they truly embark on the path of cultivation.

Wei Yang watched the scene with a faint smile. He had been back for a few days now, finally taking time to relax. Drinking tea by day, spending time with his children, and accompanying his wife at night—life couldn’t have been more peaceful or pleasant. After a short while—

”All right, that’s enough for today’s cultivation,” Yao Lao said kindly.

The two little girls opened their eyes on cue. Their bright black pupils spun playfully as they exchanged glances, tiny faces full of joy.

”Master Grandpa, can we go play now?” Wei Shuo asked happily.

Xiao Xiao looked up as well, her eyes full of anticipation.

”Go on, but don’t run too far. Remember to come back on time for lunch,” Yao Lao reminded them with a gentle smile, patting their heads before waving them off.

”Yay~!” The two little ones cheered excitedly.

Finishing their daily cultivation was always their favorite part of the day. They stood up, holding hands, and dashed away while hopping and skipping, laughing like two little birds freshly freed from their cage—chirping and carefree.

Yao Lao watched them disappear into the distance with a warm, genuine smile. The old face that had once been so stern now carried a kind, satisfied expression. In these past few years, he felt like he had smiled more than in his entire lifetime combined.

He was deeply content.

Having no children of his own, Yao Lao had long regarded Wei Yang and Xiao Yan as his sons. So naturally, the children of Wei Yang and Xiao Yan were like his own grandchildren.

At his age, regardless of how strong his cultivation might be, Yao Lao’s heart held a deep fondness for children—what people called grandparental love. Thus, when it came to teaching the kids cultivation, Yao Lao always did it personally and found joy in it every single day.

The only thing that left him slightly regretful was that his other grandchild, Wei Ye, wasn’t living nearby. Thinking of this, Yao Lao sighed softly and gazed toward the direction of the Pill Region, his eyes filled with a trace of longing.

”Master, come have a cup of tea,” Wei Yang called with a smile.

Yao Lao walked over, eyes crinkling with warmth, and sat down across from him. ”It’s about time, isn’t it? You should go bring little Ye’er back,” he said, smiling.

”I know, I’ll head out in a few days,” Wei Yang replied, pouring a cup of tea and handing it to him.

”Mm.” Yao Lao nodded in satisfaction. With one of his three grandchildren away, he could never quite rest easy—always thinking about them.

Seeing the old man like that, Wei Yang couldn’t help but smile. This old fellow had now devoted his whole heart to those three little ones. Well, might as well bring the boy home soon—otherwise the old man would keep worrying himself sick.

Xian’er and Wei Ye were currently not at Falling Star Pavilion—they had been living in the Ye Clan within the Pill Region for over a year now.

Because Wei Ye possessed a unique physique—the Pure Yang Body—he had been sent to train in the Ye Clan’s Sun Fire Ancient Altar to strengthen his foundation. Since Xian’er was their mother, she naturally had to go with them to take care of them — Ah Da went along as well.

Now, more than a year had passed. Their foundation should be more or less complete by now, so after Wei Yang had only been back for a few days, Yao Lao immediately urged him to set out and bring them home.

”The three children are all of peerless talent.”

Yao Lao stroked his beard, his face filled with pride and satisfaction, saying, ”Let’s not even talk about Xiao Ye and Xiao Shuo — both possess special constitutions. Even Xiao Xiao is quite remarkable.

At such a young age, her soul power is already formidable, and she has a fire attribute, with a faint trace of wood energy within her as well. She’s completely suitable to become an alchemist.”

”Her current soul power is comparable to yours when we first met, and her physique is several times stronger than both you and Xiao Yan’s back then. If she’s properly nurtured, her future achievements might not be any lower than yours or Xiao Yan’s.”

As Yao Lao spoke, his eyes couldn’t help but reveal a trace of expectation, even a faint heat. Two disciples, plus three grand-disciples — all of them monstrous geniuses. Just the thought of it made his heart surge with excitement.

Hearing this, Wei Yang smiled slightly. Talent and constitution were certainly important, but as for one’s future achievements — that depended on personal determination.

In the Dou Qi Continent, such talent might already be considered extraordinary, but in the Great Thousand World, not necessarily. In his eyes, talent was important, but an indomitable heart was even more so.

Moreover, although the three children’s talent was outstanding, precisely because of that, deep down Wei Yang actually felt a faint trace of worry. He feared their growth might be too smooth, leading to limited future achievements.

Those who grew up too easily, relying solely on innate talent — their actual combat strength often wasn’t very high. Their tolerance for setbacks was also weak. It seemed he would have to keep that in mind for the future — arrange some real training for them, let them suffer a bit.

Otherwise, no matter how gifted they were, they would eventually be ruined by ease.

That night, after coaxing the children to sleep, Wei Yang brought Qing Lin to a spacious secret chamber. Over the years, Qing Lin had devoted most of her energy to caring for the children, so her own cultivation progress hadn’t been very fast.

At present, she was only at the Six-Star Dou Zun realm. Of course, her so-called ”slow” progress was relative. Compared to most people, Qing Lin’s speed was already astonishing. After all, from the start of her cultivation until now, it had been less than twenty years.

To reach the Six-Star Dou Zun realm in under twenty years — who could call that slow?

Wei Yang flipped his hand and took out a jade bottle. Through the slightly translucent surface, one could see a viscous dark-red liquid suspended inside.

Qing Lin’s eyes focused, a hint of surprise flashing across them as she asked with delight, ”Young Master, is this the Ancient Heaven Serpent’s blood essence you mentioned?”

Even just looking at the blood through the jade bottle, a faint tremor stirred in her heart.

”Mm.” Wei Yang smiled and nodded.

His hands shifted through a series of seals, removing the seal on the bottle. Immediately, even before the stopper was opened, a wave of astonishing energy and murderous intent began to seep through the bottle’s surface.

”So this is Dou Sheng blood essence? What a powerful feeling!” Qing Lin said in amazement. That aura alone made her, even with her Six-Star Dou Zun strength, tremble slightly.

Wei Yang flipped his hand again, taking out another jade bottle. A faint green light shone through the translucent surface. Inside it was a flame — liquid-like and emerald green.

”The Life Spirit Flame!” Qing Lin exclaimed joyfully, her gaze fixed on the green flame.

”The Life Spirit Flame is relatively gentle, unlike other Heavenly Flames that are violent and domineering. With your current strength — and my help — you should be able to refine it.”

Wei Yang smiled. ”Once you’ve refined this Life Spirit Flame, you can use the Supplementing Deficiency Secret Art! to merge this Dou Sheng blood essence into your bloodline.”

After refining the Life Spirit Flame, merging the Dou Sheng Ancient Heaven Serpent bloodline would be much safer. With the Life Spirit Flame protecting her, she would find it difficult to die even if she tried.

This Dou Sheng Ancient Heaven Serpent blood essence carried far too much murderous energy Wei Yang had to be cautious.

As for what might happen when the Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils fused with the Dou Sheng Ancient Heaven Serpent bloodline — he couldn’t help but feel anticipation.

”Let’s begin,” Wei Yang said.

”Mm.” Qing Lin nodded firmly, taking a deep breath, her eyes shining with expectation. She had long wanted to refine the Life Spirit Flame. Back in the Black-Corner Region, she had already been waiting for this day.
