**

Tagore Desert.

Endless waves of yellow sand rolled like the tide.

The scorching sun hung high in the sky, mercilessly baking the boundless sea of golden dunes, turning it into a vast blazing furnace. The air shimmered and distorted as waves of heat rose in thick ripples, making even the space around seem blurry and warped.

Just taking a shallow breath filled one’s chest with scorching air, the heat invading every inch of the lungs until it felt like one might suffocate.

The environment here was brutally harsh.

The scenery was monotonous—everywhere the eye turned, there was only an endless expanse of sand. Only in the far distance did the occasional small oasis break the monotony, offering a brief flicker of color amid the gold.

Since the establishment of the Yang Yan Alliance and the migration of the Snake-People Clan, this desert had become even more desolate and empty than before.

At the desert’s outer edges, one could still spot the occasional human mercenary or adventurer team—sometimes even a few Snake-People squads. But deeper in, there was only silence and sand—travel for miles and you’d find not a single trace of life.

A solitary black figure floated quietly across the sky. Like a lone traveler wandering through time.

”It’s been a long time since I’ve been here.” Wei Yang gazed silently at the landscape below, his eyes filled with faint emotion. After a moment, he sighed softly. ”Didn’t expect it to have become this barren.”

He had deep feelings for this desert.

It was here, in these endless sands, that he had grown up during his weakest years. Now, returning to this place once more, memories and emotions welled up unbidden in his heart. After a moment of quiet reflection, Wei Yang smiled faintly and shook his head.

He calmed his emotions, then transformed into a streak of blurred light, disappearing swiftly into the distant horizon.

—

Deep within the desert—

Amid the raging winds and flying sands, above a stretch of towering dunes, space itself began to twist faintly.

Wei Yang’s figure appeared.

His sharp gaze swept across the surroundings. Within several hundred miles in every direction, there was nothing but silence—no oasis, no life. The area formed a perfect circle, utterly barren, as if carved out by the will of a god—a forbidden zone of death.

”This should be the place.” Wei Yang inhaled a breath of the scorching air, and within it, he seemed to catch a faintly different scent. The temperature here was the same unbearable heat as elsewhere—but somehow, it felt different.

As his soul perception spread outward, Wei Yang quickly discovered that the heat from a thousand miles around was quietly converging here, threading through the air and seeping beneath the sands below.

Taking a single step forward, he arrived above the center of the circular wasteland. His body slowly descended until his feet pressed into the soft, burning sand. With a thought, a vast tide of soul power surged out of him, penetrating deep into the layers beneath his feet.

A faint Saint aura spread through the underground space.

”Hm?”

His brows twitched slightly.

With a wave of his hand, the sand beneath him began to compress and shift outward on its own, forming a straight vertical passage that extended deep underground.

Wei Yang followed the tunnel downward, descending nearly five hundred meters before arriving at a small cavern-like space.

As soon as he entered, the temperature skyrocketed—waves of sweltering air, thick with faint red energy, filled the chamber. It was like standing in the lowest level of the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower.

Aside from that, the space was empty—nothing else existed here. It seemed like a natural gathering point for fire-attribute energy. Wei Yang extended his spiritual sense, scanning every inch of the space carefully. After a short while, the corner of his lips curved slightly.

”Found it.”

His gaze shifted as his perception locked onto a specific point in the center of the space. He stepped forward.

To the naked eye, there was nothing unusual before him—no visual distortions, no barriers. When he reached out to touch it, his hand passed through effortlessly—it felt no different from ordinary space.

”After all these years, not a single sign of decay. This small independent space remains perfectly stable, completely fused with this pocket of heaven and earth... truly, the methods of a Dou Di are beyond comprehension.”

Wei Yang couldn’t help but sigh in admiration. Then his hands began to move rapidly, forming a series of intricate seals. Streams of energy followed his movements, flowing into the seemingly empty space before him in a precise, mysterious pattern.

Finally, his hands froze.

”Open!”

Instantly, the air rippled. The ”empty” space began to tremble, waves spreading like the surface of disturbed water.

Seeing this, Wei Yang’s smile deepened.

Taking a single step forward, his figure pierced through the unseen curtain of energy—like stepping through a veil of water—and vanished from sight. What lay beyond was a strange and vast realm—far broader than the one contained within the black iron scroll.

A golden sun hung high in the sky, its faint golden radiance spilling down, illuminating every corner of this space. This place felt utterly desolate and silent, devoid of any sign of life. For tens of thousands of years, it had always been this way.

Yet, it did not feel cold — instead, it was scorching, like a massive furnace. The soft golden light brought with it endless heat; even the air seemed to ignite, as golden flames coiled and danced faintly throughout the space.

A deadland.

A forbidden zone of life.

No ordinary being could possibly survive here.

High above the heavens, faint reddish currents of air slowly seeped inward, as though continuously fueling the burning of this immense furnace.

Then, at a certain moment, the space somewhere rippled slightly — a black figure stepped out, entering this world that had slumbered for countless ages, breaking its eternal silence.

”This...”

The instant he entered, Wei Yang lifted his head, his gaze locking onto the blazing golden sun hanging above. His eyes revealed genuine astonishment.

A Heavenly Flame in the form of a golden sun?!

As he stared, Wei Yang couldn’t help but recall the former Light Emperor. As expected — appearance mirrors the heart. Even a Heavenly Flame is no exception.

The Three Thousand Burning Flame had taken on a draconic form because of its early contact with the Ancient Void Dragon. This Heavenly Flame before him, influenced during its infancy by Light Emperor, had now taken on this appearance — a radiant golden sun.

A golden sun!

At first glance, Wei Yang couldn’t help but feel an odd sense of embarrassment, like someone discovering that another person was wearing the exact same outfit. He hadn’t been mentally prepared for this at all.

After all, who would have imagined that even Heavenly Flames could ”collide” in form? Fortunately, their colors were different. One black, one gold — so, who was copying whom?

Wei Yang gazed at the golden sun’s surface, where waves of golden fire danced gently, each flicker carrying an aura that seemed ready to burn the very void itself.

If not for the peculiar stability of this spatial realm, that sun — if placed in the outside world could likely scorch through space itself with ease. He could feel the faint golden light shining upon him, as well as the thin strands of golden fire swirling through the air, brushing past his skin.

Even the Dou Qi within his body felt as though it might ignite at any moment.

Wei Yang exhaled softly and murmured, ”So this is the Light Emperor Burning Flame... No mistake, this is the Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame! Fourth on the Heavenly Flame Ranking!”

The Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame!

There was no second one in all the heavens and earth. Judging from its aura and the faint divine pressure it emitted, this flame had already grown to a terrifying high-level Ban Sheng level!

Who knew how many countless years it had been imprisoned here, slowly evolving under such limited resources?

As he stood quietly, the golden light fell across his body, while faint threads of golden flame seemed to be drawn toward him, attaching themselves to his skin. A subtle heat prickled against him — a scorching, tingling sensation.

It felt as if he might be set ablaze at any moment. The heat surged from the outside in, then from within back out again — wild and untamed.

A little domineering, even.

This was only from standing here. Wei Yang raised an eyebrow slightly. Instead of resisting, he simply allowed the golden flames to flow into his body. With his physique and unique bloodline, this degree of fire was far from enough to harm him.

Soon, those faint golden flames and light threads that entered his body were devoured by his own Heavenly Flame and bloodline, absorbed and refined into nourishment. Ever since fusing the Death Life Flame into his bloodline, it had become one with him — a part of his very being.

Thus, its power naturally grew alongside him. Now that Wei Yang had reached the Ban Sheng realm, the strength of his Heavenly Flame had likewise reached that same level. After all, they were one and the same — why distinguish between them?

Lifting his gaze once more, he looked toward the golden sun. It was clearly in deep slumber; his arrival hadn’t stirred it in the slightest. On its surface, the golden sphere expanded and contracted rhythmically, like the beating of a heart or the slow breathing of a living creature.

Strangely enough, it seemed to have learned human habits — even as a Heavenly Flame, a golden sun, it slept while unconsciously breathing in rhythm.

It looked... oddly strange.

How bored must this flame have been, to end up like this?
