After rejecting my celebrity husband

Listening to the intermittent beeping from the phone’s receiver, Leng Zirui finally sighed in relief.

Xu Xia was set to hold a concert in Hong Kong, and it was at the iconic Hung Hom Sports Center. Such a concert was deeply significant for her, and not being there to cheer her on was a small regret for him; he didn’t want her distracted by his issues.

Though that girl claimed indifferently that he didn’t matter to her, he knew that he held a crucial place in her heart. If she found out he had just survived a gunshot incident, it would certainly affect her mood.

Stuffing the phone into his pocket, Leng Zirui put away his gun and glanced at the knife wound on his arm, the flesh turned inside out. He took a cigarette from the car’s glove compartment, placed it between his lips, and lit it before opening the first-aid kit and casually wrapping the wound in bandages.

After tying a knot with the bandage ends, Leng Zirui raised his blood-stained fingers to hold the cigarette and slowly exhaled a cloud of smoke from his lips. He bent down to continue examining the bodies of the three dead men.

Just as he suspected, none of these three carried anything to identify themselves.

Standing up, Leng Zirui casually sat on the side of his crashed car, smoking and deep in thought.

They clearly had a sniper. If they just wanted to take him out from the shadows, their chances would have been much higher. But they didn’t choose that method, which proved their aim wasn’t to kill him.

Why did they want to capture him?

The 5N Key?!

But if they really wanted the 5N Key, they should have gone after his father.

Could it be they knew the key wasn’t with his father?

The night someone went to the Bei Family to steal the key, it was only Shanxia Junzi who succeeded. Only she knew this secret. He caught her on the spot, and from the moment she was admitted to the hospital yesterday, she had been under his tight surveillance. How could she have passed on the information?!

Could there be an insider at the hospital?!

To ensure Shanxia Junzi remained isolated, he’d specifically instructed the guards that even the doctors and nurses must be accompanied when attending to her. How did they manage to bypass that?!

Jumping off the car, he extinguished the half-smoked cigarette and tossed it into the ashtray. Leng Zirui took out his phone and dialed the number of the guards upstairs.

”This is Leng Zirui. How’s Shanxia Junzi?”

”Reporting to General, she is sleeping.”

”Has anyone seen her today?”

”Apart from doctors and nurses, no one has seen her.”

”Any unfamiliar doctors or nurses?”

”Reporting to General, all doctors and nurses attending her are specially assigned, no unfamiliar faces have appeared.”

”Ensure tight security.”

With a command, Leng Zirui hung up the phone with his hand lowered.

The sound of engines revving, several cars drove into the underground parking lot one after another.

Seo Shaochuan and the others jumped out of the cars in succession and hurried to Leng Zirui’s side.

”Boss, are you alright?”

”I’m fine.” Leng Zirui gave a nod, ”Quickly clean up the scene. Don’t let it disrupt the hospital’s normal operations.”

Such matters weren’t suitable to be publicized.

Fortunately, it was already night, and there weren’t many people in the parking lot.

His subordinates answered in unison and then scattered, some taking photos as evidence, others cleaning up the scene. Medical personnel were already stepping forward to re-treat Leng Zirui’s wound.

Leaving the matter to his subordinates, Leng Zirui accompanied by Seo Shaochuan went back upstairs.
