After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 1377: Chapter 1381: Will It Hurt?

”Any surgery carries risks, however, from an objective standpoint, the risks of an awake craniotomy are no greater than those of a craniotomy under general anesthesia. Moreover, it largely avoids brain damage caused by anesthesia. Among the thirty-two surgeries I’ve performed, only two cases showed temporary functional impairment, and both recovered within three months. Although not a hundred percent guaranteed, this is already a considerably high ratio!” Dr. Stansen replied.

Upon hearing this, the palms of Luo Xiaoqian and Leng Zimo tightened as they clasped each other’s fingers more firmly.

This news, for them, was undoubtedly tremendously positive.

Leng Zirui, Shen Yizhou, Ah Jiu, and others all suddenly felt invigorated.

”Of course, this surgery has high demands on the patient. It is preliminarily predicted that Mr. Leng’s tumor is around 32mm in size. According to normal rules, we only perform this surgery on tumors of 30mm and larger because this surgery requires very high demands from the patient. The larger the tumor, the longer the surgery time. I estimate it will be around two and a half hours. During these two and a half hours, I require Mr. Leng to remain absolutely awake and maintain an excellent mental state.” Dr. Stansen’s gaze deeply landed on Leng Zimo’s face, ”Mr. Leng, do you have that confidence?”

”I can do it.” Leng Zimo replied seriously.

As long as it ensures no brain damage, as long as he can continue to live well like before, even if it’s not just two and a half hours, but twenty hours, he will definitely persevere.

”Doing surgery awake...” Luo Xiaoqian looked somewhat hesitantly at Dr. Stansen, ”Will it hurt?!”

She didn’t understand medical matters, but in common sense, surgeries are supposed to be carried out under anesthesia. An awake surgery, wouldn’t it be painful?!

”No, it won’t.” Dr. Stansen reassured with a smile, ”We will anesthetize the patient, cut the scalp and skull, then control the anesthesia’s effect, balancing between pain suppression and maintaining wakefulness. The patient won’t feel pain, but Mr. Leng should be prepared because I’ll be using many tools in your brain as if a decorator is working in a room; you’ll feel it’s quite noisy.”

Dr. Stansen humorously explained the concerns that everyone had.

”This, I can completely accept.”

Leng Zimo’s tone carried a slight teasing.

Listening to his voice, everyone smiled.

Dr. Stansen’s expression turned serious, ”If you accept my treatment plan, then we can start preparing now.”

Leng Zimo and Luo Xiaoqian exchanged glances, then simultaneously turned their faces toward Dr. Stansen.

”We agree!”

”Great!” Dr. Stansen stood up, ”We need a day to prepare, and the formal surgery will take place the day after tomorrow morning. Starting now, Mr. Leng needs to rest as relaxed as possible to ensure you have enough energy to face the surgery.”

Leng Zimo pressed his lips together and stood up from the hospital bed, ”Doctor, I have one last question.”

”Please, go ahead.” Dr. Stansen said.

Leng Zimo took a deep breath, ”Based on your experience, is it benign or malignant?”

”Mr. Leng, experience cannot determine everything. I’ve had patients with malignant tumors before, and even I thought he could live no more than five years, yet he is still alive now, even sending me a postcard from Nepal two years ago. The brain is the most complex part of the human body. Before we truly open your skull, I cannot give you any answer.”
