After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 1369: Chapter 1373: That’s My Buddy

”Here, this is for you!” Leng Zirui casually tossed a lollipop into her lap, ”Why so formal? Aren’t we good buddies?”

Xu Xia picked up the lollipop, glanced at his profile, and just felt more miserable, her nose congested and her eyes starting to heat up.

At this point, Leng Zirui had restarted the car and noticed her profile in the rearview mirror. He brought his face closer with concern when he saw the tears in her eyes, ”Are you feeling really unwell? Should I take you to the hospital and cancel the performance?!”

Xu Xia quickly wiped her face and suppressed her emotions, pretending to sound relaxed, ”I’m fine, no need for a hospital. With my physique, this tiny cold is nothing, just drive!”

”Are you really okay?” Leng Zirui still wasn’t completely reassured.

Xu Xia forced a smile, ”Really, I’m fine, I just didn’t sleep well last night and my eyes hurt a bit. I’ll just nap on the plane...”

Before Xu Xia could finish, Leng Zirui’s phone rang.

He glanced at the prison number and immediately answered, ”Hello, what’s going on?”

”General Leng, Seo Fei was meeting with a lawyer today and suddenly started yelling and clutching her stomach.”

”What’s happening?” Leng Zirui asked, frowning.

”The prison doctor says it could be a miscarriage.”

”Miscarriage?!” Leng Zirui was alarmed upon hearing that. ”You guys send her to the hospital immediately, I’m heading over now!”

After hanging up, Leng Zirui frowned and looked at Xu Xia beside him, ”Xu Xia, I’m really sorry, I have an emergency. I’ll call a car to take you there, is that okay?”

Seo Fei might know about Cobra’s situation, she’s the only living clue he had at the moment. Now that Seo Fei’s health was suddenly at risk, he needed to rush over immediately.

”It’s okay, I’ll get a cab myself!” Xu Xia forced a smile and opened the car door.

Leng Zirui quickly got out of the car, looked around, saw an empty taxi approaching, and immediately flagged it down for her.

Opening the car door and settling Xu Xia inside, he hurriedly ran back to his car, grabbed some water, and handed it to her, ”You’re running a fever, drink plenty of water, be careful on the road, and text me when you get to the airport!”

Saying that, he carefully closed the car door, took out two banknotes from his pocket, and handed them to the taxi driver, ”Sir, please take her to the airport, and be careful on the way, keep the change!”

”Okay!” The taxi driver took the money, and Leng Zirui waved goodbye to Xu Xia through the car window, ”Remember to drink more water!”

With that reminder, he turned and sprinted back to his own car, leapt into the driver’s seat, and sped off towards the city.

Sitting in the back seat of the taxi, Xu Xia watched his car swiftly disappear into the traffic, her eyes growing even more teary.

Upon hearing him mention a ”miscarriage,” him leaving in such a hurry—surely the person miscarrying was his girlfriend, right?

It makes sense; someone as outstanding as him, how could he not have a girlfriend?

Yet, thinking about how he hurriedly left for a woman made her heart feel inexplicably stuffy.

Leng Zirui’s car had long gone, and the driver had already pocketed the fare he paid.

”That must be your boyfriend, he’s really something!” the taxi driver said as he started the car.

Xu Xia forced a smile, ”No, he’s just my buddy!”

”Oh, I’m really sorry, my bad, my bad,” the taxi driver hurried to apologize, ”I just thought... I assumed you two were a couple!”

”It’s fine!” Xu Xia smiled bitterly.
