After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 496: Chapter 499 The Secret Behind the Photo [3]

Despite this, in order not to arouse her suspicion, he still reached out with his fork toward the plate.

He remembered she once mentioned, her way of cooking fried eggs was learned from her mother.

At that time, his father always loved to eat this, so his mother would often prepare this for breakfast.

With these thoughts, Leng Zimo’s fork slipped and scraped across the plate, making a harsh sound.

”Are you feeling unwell?”

Turning around, she placed the milk beside him and naturally raised her hand to touch his forehead.

”I’m fine,” Leng Zimo intercepted her hand with his, ”Let’s eat. It’s getting late, and we still have to visit the cemetery later.”

Luo Xiaoqian sat down in the opposite chair, ”But you said we were going later, to avoid running into your dad, right?”

”I... I’ve changed my mind,” said Leng Zimo.

This matter was very important to both him and her; he must find his father and get some clarity.

Luo Xiaoqian saw he was in a bad mood and did not ask further.

Swallowing the tasteless fried egg forcefully, Leng Zimo spoke softly, ”Xiao Qian, has your mother... been to the Capital recently?”

”Of course!” Luo Xiaoqian set down her glass of milk, ”Back then, my dad was in the military, and she used to come here often to visit him on her own initiative.”

”What I mean is, in the past few days, like five or six years ago, did she come to Beijing?” Leng Zimo carefully phrased his question, his gaze nervously fixed on Luo Xiaoqian.

Perhaps, he had seen wrong.

After all, there are many people who look alike in this world; maybe it was just a misunderstanding.

”Five or six years ago?” Luo Xiaoqian appeared thoughtful, ”It seems... not?”

”Really not?” A hint of joy rose in Leng Zimo’s eyes.

”No, wait...” Luo Xiaoqian suddenly looked enlightened, ”I remember now; the year I got into high school, she came to Beijing. It happened to be during the May Day holiday. I wanted to come with her, but she refused, no matter what. That time, she seemed to stay in Beijing for quite a while. Later, when I asked her what she was doing here, she only said it had to do with something about my dad, but she didn’t tell me the specifics!”

The middle of May, wasn’t that exactly when Mother Leng had passed away?

The flicker of joy in Leng Zimo’s eyes was shattered instantly.

”Then...” his voice was very low, ”what is your blood type?”

”Me?” Luo Xiaoqian laughed, ”Same as you, AB type. Why do you suddenly ask this...”

”It’s nothing, just asking,” Leng Zimo lifted his cup to drink the milk, tasting nothing but bitterness.

After finishing their meal, Luo Xiaoqian changed her clothes, and the two of them went downstairs together. Leng Zimo drove straight out of World City, and when they passed the flower shop downstairs, he didn’t stop.

”Didn’t you order flowers?”

Reminded by Luo Xiaoqian’s puzzled comment, he reversed the car, went down, and picked up the bouquet.

When they both arrived at Babao Mountain Cemetery, it was already past 10 a.m.

The weather was gloomy, with a light drizzle falling. Leng Zimo took the umbrella from the trunk and handed it to Luo Xiaoqian, then he himself braved the rain and strode into the cemetery.

On their way to Mother Leng’s grave, Leng Lin and Leng Zirui had already arrived. Leng Zirui, unconcerned, sat on the grass, while the security staff stood dutifully by, holding an umbrella over Leng Lin. Seeing the two of them, Leng Zirui immediately teased with a smile.

”Mom, look, your daughter-in-law has come to see you!”

Luo Xiaoqian’s face turned red, and she promptly bowed in greeting to Leng Lin, ”Hello there.”

In the meantime, Leng Zimo had placed the bouquet he was holding in front of his mother’s grave.
