After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 463: Chapter 466: The Attitude of Father Leng【9】

The next day, the news conference regarding their engagement was grandly held at the Kailai Hotel.

At ten o’clock, a stretched Rolls Royce came to a stop outside the Kailai Hotel. A staff member approached and opened the door. Leng Zimo, clad in a silver-grey suit, got out first, and then personally helped Luo Xiaoqian, who was also dressed in a silver cocktail dress, out of the car.

Amid a myriad of flashing lights, the two walked into the venue hand in hand.

A man and a woman, the man handsome with an air of nobility, the woman beautiful with a demure grace—a perfect match.

Walking into the venue, Leng Zimo led Luo Xiaoqian straight to the presidential stage to sit down, his hand still holding hers. When Ailin announced the start of the press conference, he didn’t forget to turn his head and whisper a reminder.

”Any questions you don’t want to answer or dislike, just ignore them, I’ll handle everything!”

Nodding gently, Luo Xiaoqian’s expression was very calm. What did she have to fear with him by her side?

”Mr. Leng, may I ask when the two of you are planning to get married?” Immediately, a reporter stood up to ask.

Leng Zimo turned his face, ”Considering Xiao Qian is about to release a new album, we’ve just gotten engaged. The specific wedding date will be announced at an appropriate time.”

...

After some simple routine questions, the questions gradually became more pointed.

”Miss Luo Xiaoqian, people are questioning whether this proposal is only a publicity stunt for your new album. How do you respond?”

Leng Zimo gently squeezed her hand, indicating she didn’t need to answer if she didn’t want to.

Gently squeezing back, Luo Xiaoqian looked at the renowned reporter, slowly lifting her lips into a smile that held a hint of inscrutability.

”They guessed wrong. In fact, my album is just for the marriage hype. I think, in everyone’s eyes, my album certainly isn’t as important as marrying Leng Zimo, right?”

The audience burst into laughter.

This move was exactly what Jiao Yang had taught her before.

Avoiding the question would only make reporters cling on more firmly. If she had explained, they would have pounced on any gaps in her story. Her self-deprecatory, humorous response cleverly deflected the issue and left the reporters with no foothold for further elaboration.

Leng Zimo watched the increasingly mature and composed girl beside him, feeling also a sense of pride.

His Luo Xiaoqian was really something else. Her answer was spot-on.

”I believe everyone thinks that Miss Luo is out of Mr. Leng’s league. What is your view on this, Miss Luo?” The reporter, not willing to give up, threw another sharp question her way.

Luo Xiaoqian was still smiling, ”Of course, I’m the one reaching for him. Think about it—he’s one-meter-eighty-eight, and I’m only one-meter-sixty-eight. That makes me a full twenty kilograms shorter than him!”

Laughter rose again from the audience.

The reporter, who clearly felt mocked, was slightly angry, ”You know that’s not what I meant!”

Leng Zimo gently raised his hand, making a gesture.

”I’m sorry, sir, but you’ve already had your two questions!” Ailin immediately interjected, ”Next, please!”

”May I boldly ask, who fell in love with whom first?” A female reporter stood up, her curiosity evident as she said, ”I’d like both of you to answer this question.”

They exchanged glances, then spoke simultaneously.

”Me!”

”You two really do have great chemistry,” the female reporter’s eyes flashed coldly, then suddenly shifted tone, ”As far as I know, before Ms. Luo got involved with President Leng, she had another boyfriend. Did you break up with your former boyfriend because of President Leng?!”

...

...

That’s all for now.

Regarding the update time, it’s usually twice; once in the wee hours and the second depending on when I wake up. If I rise early, it’ll be in the morning; if late, then at noon.
