After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 468: Chapter 471: Jiao Yang’s ”Joke”【5】

In the blink of an eye, two days had passed.

After two days, the proposal ceremony that had caught the attention of almost the entire world finally cooled down.

Luo Xiaoqian’s new album with ten tracks had been arranged, and after resting for two days, she officially began recording.

Now that they had publicly announced the news, there was no need to shy away from the public eye anymore. Early in the morning, after having breakfast together, both of them rushed to Emperor View.

Luo Xiaoqian went to meet Zhuo Yannan and the others to prepare for the recording, while Leng Zimo went straight to his office on the top floor to start his day’s work.

”The investigation is clear now.” Ailin placed two files on Leng Zimo’s desk, ”These two journalists used to have a good relationship with Zhang Hua. Following the previous incident and Zhang Hua’s imprisonment, they took the chance to seek revenge. An employee from the publicity department sold them the badges; I’ve already fired him.”

”Good,” Leng Zimo nodded slightly, ”Destroy the files, and you can go back to work now.”

Ailin turned to leave, and Leng Zimo picked up his phone and dialed a number, ”How is it going?”

”I’ve followed her for three whole days. She has been acting dejected, visiting night clubs to drink on multiple occasions, without any particular actions.” The voice on the other end of the call was calm and deep, ”Should I continue?”

The ”her” the man was referring to was none other than Xu Pei.

Before Leng Zimo could respond, someone knocked on his door.

”Come in!”

The door opened, and Xu Pei walked in with a stack of files up to his desk.

”This is the progress plan for Luo Xiaoqian’s album; you haven’t signed it yet.”

Leng Zimo raised his hand to take the files, his gaze sweeping over her pale face tinged with a hint of fatigue, ”You don’t look well.”

”I haven’t been sleeping well these past few days,” Xu Pei said, looking away, avoiding his gaze.

After signing his name, Leng Zimo handed back the document, ”Rest well.”

”Thank you!” Taking the files, Xu Pei turned and walked out the door.

Throughout, she did not make any eye contact with him.

Watching her figure disappear outside the door, Leng Zimo then spoke into the still-connected call, ”Call it off.”

He had originally suspected the journalists might be related to Xu Pei, but now that he had confirmed they were not, and seeing as she had shown no more aggression towards Xiao Qian in recent days, coupled with her behavior just now, which seemed to acknowledge that everything was impossible, there was naturally no need to keep tracking her.

”Okay,” the voice on the phone replied, then hung up.

...

...

Inside the recording studio.

When Xu Pei walked in holding the files, Luo Xiaoqian was wearing headphones, listening to the song she was to record today—the first song was ”Chance Encounter,” the one she had written.

Looking at the figure swaying slightly to the music, Xu Pei’s bloodshot eyes flashed with barely concealed jealousy.

”Director Xu!”

Yu Tong greeted her with a smile as soon as she saw her.

By then, Luo Xiaoqian had also turned around, removing her headphones, ”Sister Xu Pei, good morning!”

”Hello, everyone!” Xu Pei lifted the corners of her mouth, smiling at everyone.

”You don’t look very well; are you feeling okay?” Luo Xiaoqian asked with concern upon seeing Xu Pei’s pale complexion.

”It’s nothing, just didn’t sleep well,” Xu Pei said lightly.

At that moment, the door was pushed open again, and Zhuo Yannan walked in with the recording engineer Jason, who had just arrived from abroad, and his assistant.
