After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 482: Chapter 485: Father Leng’s Invitation【3】

Luo Xiaoqian looked at his expression, took the phone with confusion, and the message was brief, ”My mother has died.”

Upon reading those words, Luo Xiaoqian’s hand holding the phone immediately stiffened.

Lu Hao’s mother, Li Sumin, was nothing out of the ordinary, just an average woman and mother. After the death of Lu Hao’s father, she brought up Lu Hao by herself, and it was not easy for a woman to raise a child alone.

Perhaps for that reason, Li Sumin was particularly fond of Luo Xiaoqian, who had also lost her father.

After Lu Hao moved to Beijing four years ago, Luo Xiaoqian often visited the Lu Family, keeping Li Sumin company. Li Sumin was always very kind to this beautiful and sensible girlfriend of her son.

Latterly, when Li Sumin fell ill and was hospitalized, Luo Xiaoqian would also visit her often. Though the relationship between the two women could not be described as close as mother and daughter, it was harmonious nonetheless.

After contributing to the surgery fees for Li Sumin last time, Luo Xiaoqian had asked the doctor for his phone number and knew that Lu Hao, too, had later visited Mother Li. She no longer dwelled on the matter.

After all, she had done what she could, and her relationship with Lu Hao had already broken down. It was unnecessary for her to concern herself with the affairs of the Lu Family any longer.

No matter what, Li Sumin was an elder with whom she had once had a good relationship. Now, hearing of her death, Luo Xiaoqian couldn’t help feeling somewhat sad.

At that moment, her phone started ringing continuously, and several messages from Lu Hao came one after another.

”I know I’m a bastard, with no right to disturb your life again. I don’t mean anything else, I just want to ask if you could, under any possible circumstances, attend my mother’s funeral. As you know, ever since my father died, the relatives from the Lu Family have cut ties with us. I don’t want my mother to leave this world so alone.”

...

In the messages, Lu Hao expressed his apologies with an extremely humble tone, and then described how miserable he was, how desolate his mother’s passing had been.

”Of course, you must be very busy now. I just thought... if, if you could spare your precious time, I hope you can come to Green Pine Cemetery tomorrow to send her off on her final journey, Lu Hao, kneeling thanks!”

Luo Xiaoqian read each message until the end, but her face didn’t change much.

Indeed, she felt some sorrow for the death of Mother Li, but as for Lu Hao, she no longer felt the slightest bit of sympathy for him. Last time, if it hadn’t been for Mother Li, she wouldn’t have let Leng Zimo let him off. Now, he was even less deserving of her forgiveness.

However, this time, she probably couldn’t refuse.

Last time, when selling the house, she couldn’t take everything with her due to the lack of means, so she stored some very important belongings at Li Sumin’s place.

Now, with Leng Zimo having bought back the house, she had intended to visit Li Sumin and retrieve those belongings. Who would have thought that such a thing would happen?

If she didn’t go this time, she might never get another chance.

After a while, she turned to Leng Zimo.

”Zimo, can you do me a favor?”

”Accompany you to the cemetery?” Leng Zimo asked.

”Yes,” Luo Xiaoqian nodded. ”And also, make a trip to the Lu Family. I’ve left some family albums and important belongings at Aunt Li’s place. I want you to help me fetch them. I... I don’t want to see him!”
