After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 489: Chapter 492: Father Leng’s Invitation【10】

He was never one for flowery speeches; a few simple words, yet they represented the deepest of promises.

Luo Xiaoqian said nothing, simply stepped forward, reached out her hand, and took hold of his.

As the two walked together toward the outskirts of the cemetery, Leng Zimo spoke softly, ”My falling out with my father was because of a woman.”

Luo Xiaoqian’s heart tightened, and she looked at his face in surprise.

”That day, my mother seemed to know she wouldn’t be around much longer, so she asked me to find my father. I searched everywhere, but couldn’t find him. Later...” Leng Zimo’s voice grew cold, ”I found him—with another woman. That woman was crying hard, and he was gently consoling her... he... he even held her, just like he would hold my mother. Then I rushed back to the hospital, but my mother had already passed away, and I didn’t even get to see her one last time. When she died, her eyes weren’t closed. I think she must have been unwilling to let go.”

Leng Zimo fell silent for a long time.

”Once, I believed my parents were the most loving couple in the world. It was only on that day that I learned I was wrong... I will never forgive him, never!”

For many years, this was the first time Leng Zimo had brought up this past to anyone, including his brother Leng Zirui.

Once, he had filled with respect and admiration for his father, but after that incident, Leng Lin’s image collapsed instantly in his heart. He couldn’t accept such deception, nor could he forgive such betrayal.

Walking beside him along the path to the outskirts of the cemetery, Luo Xiaoqian listened to his story, at a loss for what to say.

She could imagine how he felt—his mother about to be buried, he had rushed to find his father, hoping to bring him back to see his mother for the last time, only to find him with another woman. The disappointment and pain must have been immeasurable.

”I don’t know how to comfort you.” She grasped his hand tightly, turned to look at him, ”Zimo, I won’t betray you. I promise.”

Looking into her pure black pupils, Leng Zimo stretched out his arms and hugged her tightly, ”I won’t either, never will I betray you.”

They embraced for a while before Luo Xiaoqian spoke softly.

”Otherwise, let’s pay respects to your mother alone again, like we did last time?”

Before, she thought the discord between Father Leng and Leng Zimo was due to his disapproval of Zimo’s entertainment career. She had never imagined there was a deeper reason behind it.

Although she wanted Father Leng’s approval, if it required Zimo to compromise excessively, she’d rather not have it.

She hoped for recognition because Leng Lin was Zimo’s father. If he was such a father who did not deserve the title, she would not forgive him either.

Leng Zimo let her go and tidied her hair ruffled by the embrace, ”Alright, let’s rest well tonight, Tomorrow morning, we’ll head back to Beijing.”

After leaving the cemetery, Leng Zimo dropped Luo Xiaoqian off at her house before rushing to the city to finalize matters with the developers, such as setting the date for fund allocation.

Luo Xiaoqian watched his car leave, then went into the courtyard, opened that suitcase, and started to pack the photo albums and some important items inside. After organizing everything, she packed it away, preparing to take it back to Beijing...
