After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 480: Chapter 483: Father Leng’s Invitation【1】

”Should I keep you company?” Luo Xiaoqian propped herself up with the intention of rising.

”No need. With you by my side, I’m afraid I’d lack the mood to work,” Leng Zimo pressed her back onto the pillow, ”Sleep well.”

This whole week, she had worked with a high intensity. How could he bear to have her stay up with him?

”Then... don’t stay up too late either.”

”I know.” Leng Zimo stood up, walked to the door, turned off the main light, and raised his hand to help close the bedroom door for her.

”Wait!” Luo Xiaoqian sat up hurriedly, peering at him through the half-open door crack, ”Husband, good night!”

”Good night!” He smiled at her and gently closed the door tightly.

Sitting down by the sofa, he immediately opened his laptop, brought up the information on that plot of land, and started scrutinizing it closely.

...

...

Beijing.

Leng Family Mansion.

The secretary, donned in a suit, pushed open the door and walked into the study, placing a stack of documents on Leng Lin’s desk.

”Old Leng, these are the detailed documents you requested. They include Mr. Leng Zimo’s credit card transaction records as well as Miss Luo Xiaoqian’s bank card transactions,” said the secretary.

Leng Lin reached for the documents, flipped through them, and upon seeing a few photocopies of the spending records, his eyebrows lifted in confusion.

”Is this all?”

”There are only less than ten items on the credit card transactions. Apart from one transfer of 100,000 yuan, the rest are all grocery shopping records. The 100,000 yuan transfer has been made clear. It was transferred to the inpatient department of Qingdao People’s Hospital to pay the down payment for a late-stage cancer patient. Moreover, a repayment of 60,000 yuan occurred less than a week later, coming from Miss Luo Xiaoqian’s savings card account. The source of the funds has been clarified – it was her commercial performance fee. The remaining 40,000 yuan were automatically repaid at the end of the month from Mr. Leng’s other associated accounts.”

Leng Lin knitted his brows tightly, ”Who is the patient?”

The secretary flipped through the backup documents, ”The patient is named Li Sumin, 53 years old, female, a Qingdao local with no relation to Luo Xiaoqian, she is the mother of her ex-boyfriend Lu Hao.”

”What about the others?” Leng Lin asked.

Turning to the next page, the secretary continued, ”The two million yuan in Miss Luo’s account has been untouched. Afterwards, there were successive transfers amounting to over a million yuan, likely her share from the sales of her single CD at Emperor View, as well as company bonuses and some fees from her commercial performances. Recently, there were two transactions from her card: one for 200,000 yuan to a township health center in Ganzi, Sichuan, and another 200,000 yuan to a Sichuan disaster relief account, which was a donation made anonymously. Other than these, there were no other significant transactions or expenses.”

Leng Lin nodded, glanced at the secretary’s face, ”Anything else?”

”This matter isn’t much related to Miss Luo. It’s about the patient, Li Sumin. When I confirmed this information this afternoon, I learned that she passed away this afternoon after failed resuscitation,” the secretary glanced at the documents in hand, ”That’s all there is.”

”How many days until July 15, the Ghost Festival?”

”Three days left.”

”Prepare the offerings for me, remember to make two sets,” Leng Lin waved dismissal, ”That will be all. You can leave work now.”

The secretary turned and left, and Leng Lin pulled open a cabinet by the side, unlocked the safe within, and put the documents inside.

Noticing the kraft paper bag inside the safe, he carefully took it out and cautiously withdrew its contents.

Name tags, epaulettes...all the items representing a military identity were present.
