After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 467: Chapter 470: Jiao Yang’s ”Joke”【4】

”Congratulations!” Luo Xiaoqian’s tone lacked any hint of teasing, ”Last time, I thought carefully about the question you asked. You were right; it matters most who that girl truly loves. If she likes you too, I support you in pursuing her.”

”That girl...” Jiao Yang walked up to the big screen, gazing at the still shot of her close-up, ”is actually you.”

On the other end of the phone, Luo Xiaoqian was stunned.

His voice was too somber, not at all like he was joking.

Five seconds later.

Jiao Yang burst into laughter, ”Xiao Qian, did you actually believe that?”

Luo Xiaoqian’s heart immediately relaxed, ”Nice try, Casanova.”

She knew he appreciated her talent, knew he initially wanted to recruit her to his company, knew he later considered her a friend... but she never believed that Jiao Yang could have that kind of romantic feeling for her.

However, for a moment just now, Jiao Yang was so solemn, uncharacteristically so, she almost believed him.

Luckily, it was just a joke.

Otherwise, she really wouldn’t know what to do.

”Alright, then that’s settled. Remember to treat me to hotpot sometime!”

”No problem, Old Beijing hotpot, Sichuan pot, Chongqing pot... you pick.”

”Is that a promise?”

”It’s a date!”

After hanging up, Luo Xiaoqian sat down next to Leng Zimo, took the box onto her lap, and her gaze once again fell on the two bracelets inside.

The more she looked, the more the feathers inside seemed like two half-spread wings.

”Zimo, do you know what this is?” she asked, smiling at the bracelets inside, ”Jiao Yang said, it’s as if he’s given us his wings.”

Leng Zimo’s gaze also landed on the pair of bracelets; in the daylight, the feather-like filaments inside shimmered with a soft golden light.

”Beautiful wings.” He lifted his hand to her shoulder, hesitating slightly, ”Let’s invite him over for hotpot at home some day. I’ll cook for you two.”

”Really?” Luo Xiaoqian’s face lit up with surprise.

Leng Zimo nodded gently, ”Emperor View has always been competing with Asia View, or perhaps we could collaborate somehow.”

He had been listening to her phone conversation the entire time.

Even though he couldn’t hear Jiao Yang’s voice, he could imagine the general content of their phone conversation.

Having loved the same woman so deeply, the person in this world who might understand Jiao Yang the best was probably Leng Zimo. Imagining how the other man must be feeling right now, Leng Zimo felt a stirring in his own heart.

Indeed, ever since the first time the three of them had eaten together, he knew Jiao Yang’s feelings for Luo Xiaoqian were never a joke.

But that was Jiao Yang’s affair.

Before, as competitors, he naturally wouldn’t have pointed this out to Luo Xiaoqian.

Now, with the competition over, since Jiao Yang hadn’t said anything himself, he of course couldn’t say it for him. Besides, he knew Luo Xiaoqian well; if she found out, she might just end up blaming herself.

On the other end of the phone, Jiao Yang slowly lowered the phone, a self-deprecating smile on his lips.

”Angel? If I really were an angel, God surely wouldn’t joke with me like this.”

Confessing to a woman was something he had done too many times, never once sincere, yet never once doubted.

This time, the one and only sincere time, turned out to be taken as a joke.

Perhaps this was God’s punishment for his previous playboy ways!
