”You’re Zhou Xinyi, the Miss Zhou from earlier, right? What happened? Is something wrong with Shi Yin? Don’t get worked up. Speak slowly,” Chen Fei said, his dark eyes narrowing as he heard the anxious voice on the other end of the line.

”Brother Fei, listen, I snuck out with Shi Yin’s phone. Just a moment ago...” On the other end, Zhou Xinyi immediately started rambling.

As it turned out, when Guan Shiyin worked at the provincial television station, she was hailed as its number one beauty, unrivaled and famous. Consequently, she naturally attracted all sorts of successful admirers. Among them was one man with a particularly intimidating status and background.

This man’s name was Cheng Wanlong. His father, Cheng Yangsong, was the director of the provincial Bureau of Press, Publication, Radio, Film, and Television. He even had a godfather who was a deputy governor of Jiangnan Province. With connections like that, even a high-level young master like Guo Kun, a ’Government Official’s Son,’ was a notch below him.

More importantly, the guy had a terrible reputation within their social circle. He was a bona fide scumbag and a debauched young master, utterly lecherous.

After a chance encounter with Guan Shiyin, this man became infatuated and began to hound her relentlessly. He employed many vile and underhanded tactics to pursue her, all of which were, of course, rejected.

Afterward, an infuriated Young Master Cheng used his father’s influence and connections at the provincial station to have Guan Shiyin kicked out and transferred to a local station.

Although they were furious, they had no choice but to swallow their pride and accept it. After all, he had the good fortune to be born to the director of the provincial Bureau of Press, Publication, Radio, Film, and Television. Who would dare provoke such a person? If they couldn’t afford to offend him, surely they could avoid him?

But fate loved to play cruel jokes. Just when they wanted nothing more than to never see that debauched young master again, they ran into him by sheer coincidence at the Caesar Grand Hotel.

And that wasn’t even the worst part. The problem was that Cheng Wanlong was now relentlessly pestering Guan Shiyin to have dinner with him.

Guan Shiyin, of course, wanted no part of it. But given his intimidating background and status, she didn’t dare refuse him too harshly, which led to the current standoff.

”I get it. I’m coming down right now. Wait for me,” Chen Fei said before ending the call.

Seeing this, Elder Xiao Zhengguo immediately asked, ”Younger Brother Chen, what happened? Does this old man need to help?” He naturally didn’t want to miss an opportunity to mend their relationship.

”It’s a small problem involving a friend of mine. How about this? I’ll go down and take a look first. If I really need your help, Elder Xiao, I’ll come back up and let you know,” Chen Fei said after a moment of consideration.

”No problem. Younger Brother Chen, go on and hurry back,” Elder Xiao Zhengguo replied with a smile and a nod.

With that, Chen Fei left the private room.

”Pengcheng, have your men follow him. If there’s trouble, they can intervene promptly,” Elder Xiao Zhengguo immediately instructed his eldest son the moment Chen Fei was out the door.

”Yes, Dad. I’ll arrange it right away,” Xiao Pengcheng replied, standing up to follow him out and arrange for the guards to accompany Chen Fei.

PHEW.

Seeing this, Elder Xiao Zhengguo finally let out a slight sigh of relief. Still, he couldn’t hide the trace of sorrow in his eyes. He shook his head and sighed, ”Old Three was clever his whole life, only to be foolish this one time. He’s gone and provoked someone he absolutely shouldn’t have.”

”Indeed. I never thought such a stunning, brilliant talent existed in this world. An Innate Ancient Martial Artist in his twenties... I doubt even the successors of the Three Supreme Ancient Martial Halls could achieve that,” the elderly man in the felt cap, Alan, lamented as well.

「...」

”Miss Guan, I know we’ve had some misunderstandings in the past, some unpleasant ones even. But as the saying goes, ’It’s better to resolve enmity than to hold a grudge.’ Surely you won’t deny me this chance to apologize to you in private?”

Cheng Wanlong—the short, fat man in the Ferrari—had greasy, slicked-back hair and was decked out in designer clothes, with a Patek Philippe on his wrist. He was now looking at Guan Shiyin with a ’solemn’ expression as he spoke.

But the lecherous glint in his eyes made it hard to believe his intentions were as noble as his words suggested.

”Young Master Cheng, Miss Guan is my friend. If there’s some misunderstanding between you two, can you drop it for my sake? Like you said, it’s better to resolve enmity than to hold a grudge,” Young Master Guo Kun said, speaking up despite a slight frown.

He normally despised dealing with wastrels like Cheng Wanlong and avoided him at all costs, but this involved Guan Shiyin, who also happened to know Brother Fei.

”What’s that supposed to mean, Guo Kun? I just want to apologize to Miss Guan in private. Or is it that you no longer want to work at the provincial television station, Miss Guan?” Cheng Wanlong huffed, displeased. His tone then shifted abruptly as he stared brazenly at Guan Shiyin with an audacious gaze.

”You must be joking, Young Master Cheng. I’m doing very well at Northern Mountain City Television right now and have no intention of leaving,” Guan Shiyin replied, her expression troubled.

”Is that so?”

Hearing this, Young Master Cheng’s narrow eyes flashed with anger. He hadn’t expected that damn bitch to dare give him such a polite but firm rejection. A cold sneer touched his lips as he said, ”Northern Mountain City Television? Isn’t that also a department under the Bureau of Radio and Television?”

”What do you mean by that, Young Master Cheng?” Guan Shiyin’s expression changed, her face flushing with anger.

”What do I mean? Nothing much... If you, Miss Guan, are willing to have a coffee with me in private, giving me a chance to apologize for our past misunderstandings, I think I’d be more than happy to forget what I just said. What do you say, Miss Guan?” The man finally showed his true colors, his narrow eyes fixed on Guan Shiyin with a sleazy smile.

”I’ve had enough, Cheng Wanlong. What kind of man bullies a woman? Do you really think you can do whatever you want and push people around just because your father is the director of the provincial Bureau of Radio and Television?” Young Master Guo Kun’s face darkened as he spoke.

Though Cheng Wanlong’s family background was a bit more formidable than his, was he going to bully someone—a woman, no less—right in front of him? Wasn’t that going too far? It was a complete lack of respect for him, Guo Kun.

”Damn it, Guo Kun, I’m warning you! Stay the hell out of my business! This has nothing to do with you, got it?” Seeing Guo Kun repeatedly ruin his ’fun,’ Young Master Cheng flew into an indignant rage.

”What did you say!?”

Guo Kun’s expression changed instantly, his face visibly darkening with an anger that was plain for all to see.

Even though Cheng Wanlong had a powerful background, damn it, he, Guo Kun, wasn’t some pushover either! Did this guy really think he was untouchable just because his godfather was a deputy governor? He shouldn’t forget that Guo Kun had a childhood friend—Dong Jianhui, Brother Hui!

”Hmph!”

Seeing that all pretenses were dropped, Young Master Cheng couldn’t be bothered to hide his true nature any longer. He suddenly raised his hand and slapped Guan Shiyin hard across the face, gritting his teeth. ”Damn it, you bitch! God knows how many men you’ve been with, and you still have the gall to act pure in front of me? Fuck!”

”You fucking—”

Though Guo Kun was standing right there, he never expected the man to make such a sudden move. The sharp sound of the slap finally jolted him back to his senses. Seething with rage, he reached out to grab Cheng Wanlong’s collar.

”God damn you!” But at that moment, another figure moved even faster, kicking Cheng Wanlong squarely in the stomach before Guo Kun could act, sending him tumbling to the ground.

That figure was, of course, Chen Fei. After receiving Zhou Xinyi’s call, he had immediately taken the elevator down from the seventh floor of the Caesar Grand Hotel to meet her. They had rushed over at once, but it seemed he was a moment too late, having witnessed the infuriating scene from a distance.

”Ah, Shiyin, your face!” cried Zhou Xinyi, who had also seen what happened. She rushed to her best friend’s side, her voice filled with heartache and rage as she stared at the five bright red finger marks on her friend’s cheek. ”He went too far... Are you okay?”

Upon seeing Chen Fei and her best friend, Guan Shiyin covered her tear-streaked face. Overwhelmed with pain and humiliation, she collapsed into Zhou Xinyi’s arms, sobbing.

”You fucking dare to hit me? Do you have any idea who I—”

Just then, Cheng Wanlong, who had been sent flying by Chen Fei’s kick, finally caught his breath. He staggered to his feet, clutching his stomach and grimacing, his face a dark mask of fury. He glared at Chen Fei, his teeth clenched.

But before he could finish, he was kicked in the stomach again. Still not satisfied, Guo Kun stomped on him several more times before spitting disdainfully. ”Damn it, I’ve been waiting to deal with a piece of trash like you. Hitting a woman, no less. Who the fuck do you think you are?”

”Guo Kun, you dare to hit me? You just wait...” Cheng Wanlong howled from the floor, glaring at Guo Kun with pure rage.

However, before he could finish his threat, Chen Fei delivered another vicious kick to his stomach. ”Shut your mouth,” Chen Fei said, his voice cold as ice. ”Make another sound, and believe me, I’ll crush you like an ant.”

”Crush me? Who the fuck do you think you are? Let me tell you, my dad is Cheng Yangsong, director of the provincial Bureau of Radio and Television, and my godfather is Deputy Governor He Zhengqin! Crush me? If you have the balls, you can fucking try it right now—”

Hearing Chen Fei’s ”overconfident” threat, Young Master Cheng’s first reaction was explosive anger. He began shouting wildly, reeling off a list of his powerful connections.

This time, however, he didn’t even get to finish his own sentence. He abruptly swallowed the rest of his words, so terrified he nearly lost his soul.

Because Chen Fei had turned around, calmly taken a gun from one of the guards standing behind him, and walked back over. Then, in full view of everyone, he bluntly pressed the dark barrel of the gun to Cheng Wanlong’s head.

”Do you really think it would be difficult for me to crush you?” A faint, cold smile played on Chen Fei’s lips.

Cheng Wanlong peed himself on the spot.
