Medical Sage

The farce had seemingly come to an end. Young Master Xiao Hao had refused to acknowledge the debt and declined to fulfill the bet. After all the tough talk, it turned out to be all for show. In any case, Chen Fei ended up with nothing and was completely frustrated.

But just as he was preparing to leave, the situation took an unexpected turn. Xiao Qianrang wanted to see him?

Perfect. Isn’t Xiao Hao his nephew? The young one ran off, so the old one should be ashamed not to come and settle the score, right?

Therefore, he couldn’t be bothered to leave and decided to wait at the Dongyun Club.

Meanwhile, the midday sun was at its zenith. The rush hour in Tongzhou City, the provincial capital, had just passed when several black Rolls-Royces sped along the road, heading toward the Dongyun International Private Club.

About half an hour later, Chen Fei was waiting upstairs at the Dongyun Club, bored out of his mind, when he was suddenly confronted by several grim-looking men in black suits. Their intimidating aura was palpable as one of them spoke coldly, ”Mr. Chen, if you please. President Xiao would like to see you.”

”He wants to see me, but he can’t come up himself?” Chen Fei retorted, giving them a cold glance.

”Considering President Xiao’s status, does he need to come up personally to see you?” the apparent leader of the men sneered, his voice mocking and icy.

”If he won’t come up himself, then get lost! Don’t be an eyesore.” Chen Fei wasn’t having any of it. His pitch-black, glaze-like eyes swept over the man with utter disdain. A mere peak Second-Rate Ancient Martial Artist dares to posture in front of me, Chen Fei? Pathetic...

”Insolence! What kind of attitude is that...?” the leader snarled, his face darkening.

Before he could finish, he felt a terrifying gust of wind beside him. An iron-like hand clamped around his throat. It was Zhou Shang, stepping out of the shadows with a cold expression. ”What sort of trash are you to dare act so insolently here?”

”Zhou... Zhou... Zhou Shang!? Cough, cough... let me go!” The leader obviously recognized Zhou Shang. He was terrified to see the dreaded man here, his expression turning to one of alarm as he choked out the words.

”Hmph!” Zhou Shang snorted coldly. With a casual flick of his wrist, he flung the man’s sturdy body against the wall like a toy. It landed with a heavy THUD, and fine cracks even appeared on the wall’s surface, causing the onlookers’ pupils to shrink in shock.

The other men in black stumbled back, their panic evident.

”I say, you’ve watched long enough. Isn’t it time you came in?” At that moment, Chen Fei spoke nonchalantly toward the doorway, a hint of mockery on his plain face. To just stand by and watch his own men get beaten... What a pathetic leader. How embarrassing...

”Hmph!”

The next moment, a cold snort echoed from the doorway. Xiao Qianrang walked in, his expression grim as he pushed the door open. Behind him were several fierce-looking men in black, all of whom seemed to be Ancient Martial Artists of considerable strength.

”Tsk, I never thought that after all these years, you, Xiao Qianrang, would still be so afraid of dying,” a derisive laugh suddenly rang out. It was Zhou Shang, his voice cold.

”Zhou Shang, what did you say?”

Upon hearing this, Xiao Qianrang’s already gloomy eyes grew even darker. He trembled slightly, radiating exasperation as he stared coldly at Zhou Shang. ”What? Does a past loser now have the nerve to shout in my face? Tell me, Zhou Shang, how are you enjoying America?”

”You…”

Zhou Shang’s cool eyes constricted. His chiseled, stoic face trembled, rippling with an emotion called rage.

”Hiss... Could it be that Brother Shang was framed by Xiao Qianrang back then, causing him to kill the wrong person by mistake!?” Seeing this, even Dong Jianhui couldn’t help but gasp, murmuring to himself in a daze. If that was the truth, then President Xiao Qianrang’s methods were truly cunning.

Just then, however, everyone felt an inexplicable chill. Chen Fei was squinting at his opponent, his pupils flashing with a sharp light. ”I say, President Xiao, you didn’t make me wait here just to watch you throw your weight around, did you? You should be well aware that my time is limited. I have no time to waste with you.”

”Whoa!”

This exclamation caused an immediate uproar. No one had expected Chen Fei to dare speak to President Xiao Qianrang that way. He was, after all, the current head of Jiangnan Province’s wealthiest conglomerate and the public face of the Xiao Family, the most prominent and powerful family in the province. Yet now, a mere young man, who looked to be in his twenties, was being so ’brazen’. Was that really appropriate?

”Heh, very good. Of all the younger generation in Jiangnan Province today, you’re the only one who dares to speak to me, Xiao Qianrang, like this. Truly, very good...” Xiao Qianrang stared at Chen Fei, his face as dark as still water.

However, before he could finish, Chen Fei cut him off. ”Stop flattering yourself. Who do you think you are? Anyway, I can’t be bothered to waste any more words on you. President Xiao, you’re aware of the debt your nephew owes me, right? Give me a straight answer now.”

”Will you pay it, or not?” he demanded, looking at the other man coolly and enunciating each word.

”The debt my nephew owes you? Oh, you mean the storefront. What’s the big deal? If you want it, just say the word. I, Xiao Qianrang, would even give it to you as a gift. So what?” Xiao Qianrang seemed to regain his confidence. He licked his lips, a look of indifference on his face as he stared at Chen Fei.

”So that means there’s nothing to discuss? Fine. I, Chen Fei, will remember what happened today. President Xiao, our paths will cross again. Farewell.” Chen Fei’s response was even more decisive.

Heh, a gift? Didn’t your nephew already lose it to me? It’s already my property. And now it’s a ”gift”? Does that mean this is non-negotiable? Well, forget it. If he doesn’t want to talk, fine. Our paths will cross again. Am I, Chen Fei, really afraid I won’t get my due someday? Please, the heavens are fair. With that, he turned to Dong Jianhui. ”Jianhui, let’s go.”

”Wait, you can’t leave!” Xiao Qianrang stepped in front of him, his expression grim.

”Do I know you?” Chen Fei shot a cold glance at the man blocking his path. His pitch-black, glaze-like eyes radiated a sharp light, like the edge of a blade.

”Chen Fei, I am here on official business today. Are you sure you want to make an enemy of me?” Xiao Qianrang trembled with agitation, but he gritted his teeth and spoke with a furious, yet triumphant and savage, expression.

”Official business? What official business?” Chen Fei asked, somewhat puzzled.

”A distinguished guest from the Island Country has contracted a strange disease and is currently in a ward at XXX Hospital. The provincial government is taking this matter very seriously. I recommended you to my superiors. You must come with me immediately to treat Lord Sanlang!” Xiao Qianrang said gravely.

”Lord Sanlang? Someone from the Island Country?” Chen Fei’s face instantly darkened. He subconsciously licked his lips, staring at Xiao Qianrang as a terrifying emotional surge brewed within him.

He then spoke, ”You’re asking me to treat someone from the Island Country? President Xiao, don’t you know I despise people from the Island Country?” His master, Uncle Ming Daochuan, had lived through that war and held a blood feud with the people of the Island Country. Influenced by his master since childhood, Chen Fei despised them.

And now, this bastard wants me to treat some dignitary from the Island Country? Is he out of his mind? Is he daydreaming?

”Despise them? Are you kidding? Do you have any idea how important Lord Sanlang’s case is? It’s connected to a major partnership between our Jiangnan Province and the Mouri Commerce Corporation! If something goes wrong because you refuse to provide treatment, can you bear the responsibility?” Xiao Qianrang demanded angrily, a glint of ’conspiracy’ flickering in his eyes.

Based on his understanding of Chen Fei, he knew the punk wouldn’t give in so easily.

But that’s for the best. If you agreed too easily, how could I use this opportunity to deal with you? Heh.

”Out of the question. I don’t treat people from the Island Country, and I don’t treat you. So get out of my sight right now, or you’ll face the consequences,” Chen Fei said coldly. Threatening me? Sorry, but threats are the one thing I’ve never been afraid of. If you’ve got the guts, let’s see what those consequences are.

”Fine, Chen Fei. You said that yourself. Don’t you regret it,” Xiao Qianrang said, feigning a grim expression while a sneer of ridicule flashed in his eyes.

”I never regret anything,” Chen Fei said, pausing to glance back at him.

”Heh, is that so? I hope your backbone is still this strong later. Farewell!” Xiao Qianrang sneered and, to everyone’s surprise, turned and left.

Seeing this, Chen Fei instinctively narrowed his eyes. He could already sense that something was wrong. But Xiao Qianrang and his men were already gone. Their departure was abrupt and slightly unsettling. After a long silence, Zhou Shang finally spoke, ”Brother Chen, that old fox is probably up to something...”

”It doesn’t matter. I’d like to see what tricks he can pull,” Chen Fei replied, shaking his head lightly.

Indeed, he’s just Xiao Qianrang. What could he really do to me? Setting aside my combat strength, which is comparable to an Ancient Martial Artist at the Early Stage Peak of the Innate Realm, what about my official title from the Flying Leopard division? It’s a genuine senior directorate rank. Is that a fake? Even the provincial leaders wouldn’t dare to underestimate someone of my rank, so they certainly wouldn’t blame me over some foreign guest from the Island Country. That’s completely unrealistic! So, of course, it doesn’t matter.
