Medical Sage

On the other hand, after having a simple breakfast at the airport, Chen Fei took out his phone and dialed Dong Jianhui’s number.

Ever since Chen Fei had miraculously revived Elder Dong with his extraordinary medical skills at the Dong Family Villa, everyone in the Dong Family had deeply etched the young man’s face into their memory. As the direct grandson of Elder Dong and the son of Secretary Dong Wencheng, Dong Jianhui was certainly no exception.

After all, to put it pretentiously, Chen Fei had saved Elder Dong’s life, making him a true benefactor to the Dong Family—a life-saving benefactor!

Therefore, it was impossible for them not to take him seriously. Chen Fei now held a very high and important status in the eyes of the entire Dong Family.

That day, Dong Jianhui was at a private, high-end club in Tongzhou City and seemed to have run into some trouble. He was sitting with a crestfallen look on his face when a club employee suddenly approached with his phone, saying respectfully in a low voice, ”Young Master Dong, your phone is ringing.”

”My phone?”

Dong Jianhui rubbed his fuzzy blonde head and glanced over with irritation. But when he saw the string of numbers, his eyes suddenly narrowed. A look of surprise spiraled in his gaze, and he couldn’t help but murmur softly, Brother Fei?

Clearly, ever since that incident, he had firmly etched that phone number into his heart, whether by his father’s instruction or on his own accord.

”Brother Fei?”

The club employee was clearly taken aback, not expecting to hear such a term from the esteemed Young Master Dong.

Brother? One should know what kind of status Young Master Dong Jianhui has. He’s the son of Dong Wencheng, the Municipal Party Secretary of Tongzhou City, the capital of Jiangnan Province. Not to mention, Secretary Dong also serves as the provincial Minister of Propaganda and a member of the Provincial Standing Committee. He’s an absolute heavyweight whose words carry immense authority, so calling him one of the top four or five leaders in the province would be no exaggeration. Yet now, Secretary Dong’s son, Young Master Dong, is calling someone on the phone ’Brother Fei’ right in front of me? Regardless of what kind of ’Brother’ it is, that single word is enough to be shocking. This Brother Fei… who could he possibly be? Could he be from the Capital City?

”It really is Brother Fei.”

While the club employee was lost in his shocked speculation, Dong Jianhui had already excitedly dialed the number back. After waiting a moment, he spoke with the utmost respect, ”Brother Fei, hello. I apologize, my phone wasn’t with me, so I didn’t hear it ring just now.”

Seeing this, the employee was even more bewildered. A look of sheer disbelief crossed his face, his mouth hanging so wide open he couldn’t close it.

Damn it, am I dreaming? The illustrious Young Master Dong Jianhui is being so respectful to someone his own age? Not even the young masters from the Capital City command this much deference, right? He simply couldn’t fathom who was on the other end of the line.

”No wonder,” Chen Fei nodded on the other end of the phone. ”I was wondering why no one was picking up even though the call was going through.” He then added with a smile, ”Where are you now? I’m in Tongzhou and need to see you about something.”

”You’re in Tongzhou, Brother Fei? Really? That’s fantastic! I’ll come pick you up right away. Where are you?” Hearing that Chen Fei was in Tongzhou, Dong Jianhui became instantly thrilled and asked eagerly.

”I’m at the KFC near the airport. Don’t rush, I’ll wait for you here,” Chen Fei replied with a smile.

Tongzhou City’s airport was on the outskirts, conveniently in the same direction as the private club where Dong Jianhui was. The trip between the two places would take roughly twenty minutes.

Hearing this, Dong Jianhui immediately said, ”Okay, Brother Fei, I’ll drive over right now. It should only take about half an hour. Sorry to keep you waiting.”

”No problem.”

Chen Fei smiled and ended the call.

Dong Jianhui immediately stood up, put away his phone, and prepared to change clothes and leave. Clearly, in his mind, Brother Fei’s arrival was more important than anything else. Just then, however, someone blocked his path with a smirk.

”What’s the matter, Young Master Dong? Our bet hasn’t even started and you’re already trying to run? Don’t tell me you’re scared, are you? Hahaha!” The speaker, dressed in loose casual clothes with permed and dyed brownish-yellow hair, looked at Dong Jianhui with arrogant eyes and a mocking laugh.

”Xiao Hao, get out of my way. I don’t have time to waste on your nonsense right now!” Dong Jianhui, however, retorted coldly and pushed the man aside.

Xiao Hao—the name itself identified him as a member of the Xiao Family. Xiao Qianrang of the Xiao Group had struggled with fertility issues in his early years and remained without a son, so he had always doted on Xiao Hao, a nephew from a collateral branch of the family. Such a status did indeed give him some standing to be so brazen and arrogant in front of Young Master Dong.

”What do you mean by that, Dong Jianhui? Can’t afford to lose?” Hearing Dong Jianhui’s tone and attitude, Xiao Hao’s expression instantly darkened. A sneer played on his lips as he said, ”Could it be that the great Young Master Dong can’t afford to lose a mere million? Or are you so afraid of me, Xiao Hao, that you’re chickening out before the match has even started?”

It turned out that earlier, the two had made a wager over a dispute, betting one million on who had better golf skills.

With their backgrounds, a mere million was nothing to them. Xiao Hao was backed by the massive Xiao Group, while Dong Jianhui had the support of the Chen Family, one of Hong Kong’s Five Great Tycoon Families. But now, it was a matter of face.

They had already agreed to a bet, and the contest was about to begin, yet Dong Jianhui seemed to be trying to sneak away. This was tantamount to admitting defeat without a fight. If word got out, it would surely make him a laughingstock!

”Afraid of you? Xiao Hao, you should take a look in the mirror. With that snide look on your face, you have the nerve to say I’m afraid of you?” Despite his calm appearance, with his fluffy blonde hair, Dong Jianhui seemed to have quite a temper and shot back sharply.

”What did you say?” Xiao Hao flew into a rage and couldn’t help but jeer loudly, ”Since you’re not afraid, then fine, let’s start now. I’d like to see just how capable you are, Young Master Dong, to think you can even compare to my golf skills.”

He paused briefly, then lifted his head with a proud expression. ”Let me tell you, back in California, I made it into the top three of the intercontinental championships. If I hadn’t run out of time to continue, my name, Xiao Hao, might now be among the rising stars of American golf!”

At this revelation, Dong Jianhui’s expression subtly changed. The onlookers who had gathered also began to whisper among themselves.

”Young Master Xiao is so impressive! The intercontinental championship in California, America—I’ve heard of it. They say even Woods, the current king of world golf, first made a name for himself in that very tournament when he was young.”

”Looks like Young Master Dong is in trouble this time. I know his golf skills. They’re average at best. There’s no way he could place in the top three of such a renowned tournament.”

Hearing the murmurs of praise and flattery from the crowd, a look of smug arrogance appeared on Xiao Hao’s face. Adopting a superior air, he looked at Dong Jianhui with a condescending smile. ”How about it, Young Master Dong? Scared now? Why don’t you just concede defeat? I won’t even take your million. As long as you’re willing to say you submit, we can call this whole thing off. What do you say?”

His words caused an immediate uproar.

The crowd gasped. What in the world? Make Young Master Dong admit defeat? If word of this got out, how could he ever hold his head high in Jiangnan or Tongzhou City again?

”Xiao Hao, did a door slam on your head? You think you have what it takes to make me submit?” Dong Jianhui’s face turned grim. He reached out, pushed Xiao Hao out of his way, and strode off, leaving a cold voice hanging in the air. ”I have an emergency. The match is postponed for one hour!”

”Dong Jianhui, you—you… Hmph!” Stunned for a moment, Xiao Hao could only snort in frustration, not daring to block him any further.

After all, given Dong Jianhui’s status and position, even Xiao Hao had to unwillingly admit that he was a notch below him. Causing more of a scene would only be to his own detriment, so he could only grit his teeth and take it.

However, he obviously couldn’t swallow his anger. That damned Dong Jianhui was being far too arrogant, utterly disregarding him. This made him curse under his breath in a low, furious voice, Damn it, one hour it is. We’ll see how I teach you a lesson later and make you lose all face!

Meanwhile, Dong Jianhui had hurriedly changed his clothes and headed to the parking lot. A few moments later, a Jaguar roared out of the club, speeding away.

About half an hour later, a travel-worn and panting Dong Jianhui found Chen Fei at the airport KFC.

”You’re here? What’s the rush? Let me go buy you a drink. What do you want?” Seeing him in such a state, Chen Fei couldn’t help but shake his head with a chuckle. He stood up, ready to buy him some water.

”No need, no need. I brought my own,” Dong Jianhui hastily waved his hands, still gasping for breath. Only then did Chen Fei notice he was already holding a bottle of some beverage.

Slightly embarrassed, Chen Fei smiled awkwardly and tried to make small talk. ”How has your grandfather, Elder Dong, been lately?”

”Thanks to your blessing, Brother Fei, my grandfather is in excellent health. He even successfully broke through to become a First-Class Ancient Warrior. He often talks about you and hopes you can find the time to visit our home and see him,” Dong Jianhui replied, his attitude growing even more respectful.

Just then, his phone suddenly buzzed, causing his expression to change slightly.

He subconsciously took out his phone and glanced at the caller ID, muttering with a displeased look. Not this persistent nuisance again.

The person calling him was none other than Young Master Xiao Hao.
