BANG!

The snobbish Brother Cai, who had always acted above the law, finally got the kick he deserved. But what followed was a dead silence, as deep and unnerving as the dead of night, making people shiver involuntarily.

”Cai—Brother Cai got hit?”

To be fair, Yang Cai was a somebody in Northern Mountain City. His backer, after all, was the undisputed head of the notorious Black Clothes Gang. So, no one at the scene truly thought Chen Fei would dare to strike him. As the saying goes, you spare the rod for the master’s sake. The name Zheng Kuangyi—the leader of the Black Clothes Gang—alone carried immense weight.

And as another saying goes, it’s easier to deal with the king of hell than his little demons. This was especially true for clingy troublemakers like these punks. Ordinary people usually stayed as far away as possible, fearing getting entangled with such nuisances.

So, seeing this, everyone present was stunned, especially the staff of the Green Bamboo Medicinal Cuisine House. They could never have dreamed that the seemingly cultured Chen Fei would dare to provoke the underworld, much less strike the cousin of the Black Clothes Gang’s leader. Their faces turned pale, and they trembled with fear. They were just employees; how could they dare to cross paths with figures from the criminal underworld? But now…

However, Zhao Le and Zhang Long felt the exact opposite. They, on the other hand, had personally witnessed what happened just a few days ago. Chen Fei had gotten the son of the Director of the Municipal Organization Department thrown in jail, not to mention the countless other scions of powerful families who were dragged down with him. And now? Chen Fei was perfectly fine, wandering around Northern Mountain City as if nothing had ever happened. Even they, slow as they were, understood that Chen Fei must have powerful backing. He was completely unafraid of retaliation.

Compared to the truly prominent figures in Northern Mountain City’s political and business circles, a nobody like Yang Cai was nothing. Even if Zheng Kuangyi himself, the so-called leader of the Black Clothes Gang, showed up in person, it probably wouldn’t make a difference. To Chen Fei, it was all meaningless. So, of course, they weren’t afraid. There was nothing to be afraid of.

”Fuck! What the hell are you morons staring at? Get him! Beat him to death, hack him to pieces!” Just then, the worthless punk lying on the ground in agony exploded with rage.

”Fuck! You dare hit Brother Cai?! Damn it, get him! Beat him to death!”

Immediately, the group of thugs trailing Brother Cai finally realized what was happening. Cursing viciously, their faces twisted into ferocious scowls. Some even pulled out switchblades and charged murderously toward Chen Fei, causing the expressions of everyone present to change drastically. After all, there was a clear line between improvised weapons like bottles and bricks and an actual blade. A switchblade was a real weapon, one that inspired genuine fear.

The fact that these thugs would so brazenly draw knives in broad daylight, intending to cause harm, made Chen Fei’s expression turn cold and detached.

”Afei, be careful!”

”Brother Fei!”

”Damn it, they’re asking to die!” Zhang Long’s face instantly paled as he cried out a loud warning.

Even Gao Yuan and Huang Feng, who were standing nearby, couldn’t just watch. Their expressions changed as they prepared to rush over and help. What kind of status does Brother Fei have? Even our fathers, Huang Tao and Gao Zhinan, revere him as a miracle-worker, a god-like figure in the city. How dare a few petty thugs pull a knife on him? This is outrageous! They’re courting death! If our fathers found out about this, they would be absolutely furious. It would stir up a monstrous storm in Northern Mountain!

THUD! THUD! THUD…

But just as they were about to rush out and help, an astonishing scene unfolded before their eyes. The guests and the restaurant staff were completely stunned, their mouths agape.

Chen Fei remained impassive. His pitch-black pupils, clear as crystal, emanated a calm, chilling light that made one tremble just by looking. He calmly took a step forward, then swung his leg out fiercely like a steel whip. He kicked a young man lunging at him with a switchblade, sending him flying. With a sickening THUD, the man slammed into a nearby wall and slid to the ground, not even managing a groan of pain.

Seeing this, many people gasped in shock, amazed by Chen Fei’s formidable skill.

”Arrogant little—”

However, the other thugs had not yet grasped the reality of Chen Fei’s strength. With vicious faces and strings of curses, they grabbed chairs, bottles, bricks, and switchblades, swarming Chen Fei from all directions.

But before one of them could even finish his arrogant taunt, Chen Fei moved as if no one else was there. He casually snatched a bottle from another man’s hand, slowly raised it, and then brought it down on the man’s head with the force of a thunderclap! Blood immediately streamed down his face.

What followed was a complete, one-sided beatdown.

With Chen Fei’s current strength, even an Innate Early Stage powerhouse would struggle against him, let alone these ordinary street thugs. It was no different from bullying his own grandchildren. I’m actually a little embarrassed by this, he thought.

So, in the few seconds it took everyone to blink, those thugs were all battered and bloody, groaning in pain as they lay curled up on the ground.

”Wow, that’s amazing...” Seeing this, Zhao Le and Zhang Long could not help but stare, their mouths hanging wide open in utter shock. They had never imagined Chen Fei’s skills were so incredible! Even street thugs who made a living from fighting were no match for him. He was dismantling them with ease!

”Hey, with your measly level of skill, you still have the nerve to come out and disgrace yourselves? Aren’t you ashamed?” Chen Fei said, stepping on the stunned Brother Cai’s chest and looking down with a cold, mocking smile.

”Fuck, do you even know who I am?! Do you know who my cousin is?!” Upon seeing Chen Fei daring to step on his chest, Brother Cai instantly panicked and shouted furiously.

But in the next moment, Chen Fei stomped down hard again. Then, with an impatient look, he picked at his ear and said coolly, his dark eyes filled with indifference, ”Shut your filthy mouth. I’m not interested in who you are, and I don’t care who your cousin is.”

He paused slightly before continuing, looking down on the man. A cold glint flashed in his crystal-clear eyes as he spoke flatly, ”But I guarantee you, if you keep spouting nonsense, I won’t mind making you shut up for good. I’m a doctor, and I think you have every reason to believe me.”

”You, you, you, I…”

Hearing this and catching the chilling intent in Chen Fei’s eyes that made his whole body shiver, Brother Cai felt terror flood his gaze as he stuttered, ”I-I’ll tell you, my cousin is Zheng Kuangyi! If you dare to mess around…”

But he couldn’t even finish his threat. His gaze met the piercing cold in Chen Fei’s eyes, and a shiver shot up his spine, making his hair stand on end.

It was only now that he finally realized it. Even my cousin, the great leader of the Black Clothes Gang, Zheng Kuangyi, seems to hold no sway over this guy. But how is that possible?! Ever since my cousin’s Black Clothes Gang drove the Tiger Leopard Hall out of Northern Mountain, they’ve been the undisputed top power in the city! No one on the streets dares to disrespect them. Yet this guy... his expression is so cold, so mocking, as if he truly doesn’t give a damn. How can this be?!

”Zheng Kuangyi? Sorry, the name doesn’t ring a bell,” Chen Fei said impatiently, picking at his ear again. ”Alright, I’m too lazy to keep wasting my breath on you. Three choices. One, apologize and pay up. Two, let me beat you up again, then you apologize and pay up. Three, let me beat you up twice, then you apologize and pay up. Choose.”

Zheng Kuangyi? The name sounded vaguely familiar. Wasn’t that the guy who was harassing Guan Shiyin, the one I taught a lesson to when I was playing knight in shining armor? It would be a miracle if he didn’t come looking for trouble with me, so why would he have the guts to show his face around me now? Probably not… but it doesn’t matter if it is or not. It’s all the same in the end.

Upon hearing this, Brother Cai’s face fell. Damn it, what kind of three choices is that? They’re all just ’apologize and pay up’! This is just blatant bullying!

His side had been beaten to a pulp, yet they were the ones who had to apologize and pay? It was the height of bullying! But even though he felt wronged to his core, he didn’t dare utter another word of protest. He could only swallow his pride and accept his fate.

”R-Right, I’m sorry. I’ll pay,” he said with a mournful face, his voice as faint as a mosquito’s.

”Louder!” Chen Fei demanded, frowning as his voice rose sharply.

”Ah, sorry, sorry! SORRY!” Brother Cai jolted and shouted.

”Hmm, that’s more like it,” Chen Fei said with a nod of satisfaction, then waved him away dismissively, as if shooing a fly. Seeing this, Brother Cai, though his expression was as foul as if he had swallowed a dead rat, promptly paid up before shakily scrambling away with his men.

Obviously, after witnessing Chen Fei’s terrifying martial prowess, he had lost all will to resist. Even if he was burning with indignation and wanted revenge, he still needed time to call for backup.

Damn it all! How dare he lay a hand on me, Yang Cai, Brother Cai himself! He must have a death wish!

”Afei, are you alright? I had no idea you were so skilled. I remember you practiced martial arts as a kid, right?” Zhang Long asked as he came over, his voice full of awe and curiosity once Brother Cai’s crew had scurried off.

”Of course. Twenty years of dedicated training! A single slap from me could send those guys spinning so hard they wouldn’t know which way is up,” Chen Fei boasted, shamelessly talking nonsense.

As his words fell, he smiled and added, ”Alright, since the trouble’s over, let’s not keep standing around outside like idiots. Let’s go in. It’s time I introduced you.” He pointed first at Zhang Long and Zhao Le, then at Young Master Feng and Young Master Gao Yuan.

”Ah, these two gentlemen...” Zhao Le finally noticed Huang Feng and Gao Yuan standing behind Chen Fei. He quickly extended a warm invitation. ”Excellent. We’ve already prepared a room. Please, let’s all head inside.”
