Medical Sage

”What’s wrong? Is something the matter?” Chen Fei blinked in mild surprise upon seeing Dong Jianhui’s disgruntled expression, a hint of curiosity on his face.

Dong Jianhui’s status was far from ordinary. His father, Dong Wencheng, was the Party Secretary of Tongzhou City, a Standing Committee member of the provincial committee, and the head of the Provincial Propaganda Department. His authority was substantial; it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call him the fourth or fifth most powerful leader in the province.

This backing solidified Dong Jianhui’s reputation as the foremost ’Government Official’s Son’ in Jiangnan Province, and his prestige grew accordingly. It was therefore quite surprising to see the young man apparently caught in some kind of trouble.

”...It’s just some oblivious fool causing trouble. But it’s nothing serious, don’t worry about him.” Dong Jianhui hesitated for a moment before shaking his head with a smile, choosing not to answer the call.

After all, when he left the club earlier, he had announced that his golf match against Xiao Hao would be postponed for one hour. Yet now, for Chen Fei’s sake, he resolutely chose to ignore the ringing phone and hang up!

He was well aware that his actions would have severe and humiliating consequences.

Xiao Hao could easily use this as ammunition, spreading rumors that he, Dong Jianhui, was scared to compete against him in golf. In their circle of second-generation elites, such an incident was undoubtedly a huge loss of face, something to be ridiculed.

But despite understanding the consequences, Dong Jianhui still decisively chose Chen Fei. He ended the call, ignoring the fuming and simultaneously gloating Xiao Hao on the other end.

This was proof enough. In his heart, and in the hearts of the entire Dong Family, Chen Fei—Brother Fei’s—importance needed no explanation. He would always come first, anytime, anywhere.

”Hey, what are you doing... Did you forget what I told you? Strictly speaking, we’re about the same age, right? We’re peers, so don’t try to apply your father’s formal customs to us. I’m not used to it, and I’m sure you aren’t either,” Chen Fei said with a hint of resignation, his sharp eyes seeing right through the situation.

He paused for a moment, a smile slowly forming on his lips. ”Alright, spill it. What’s going on? Judging by your expression, it seems like a real hassle.”

”Alright then, Brother Fei, I’ll tell you...”

Hearing Chen Fei say this, Dong Jianhui gradually relaxed and told him the whole story between him and Xiao Hao.

”Xiao Qianrang’s nephew?” Chen Fei’s expression was a bit strange after hearing the story.

He really hadn’t expected it. It seemed he and the Xiao Family, especially Xiao Qianrang, were truly ’fated’ to cross paths. They had already clashed over a medical consultation, and now he was running into Xiao Qianrang’s nephew. Heh, how interesting.

”That’s right. Because of his own personal issues, Xiao Qianrang has been unable to have a son after all these years. As a result, he dotes on this nephew from a side branch of the family, granting Xiao Hao a certain degree of status.”

Dong Jianhui nodded and continued, ”We had a huge falling out over an antique a while back, and we’ve held a grudge ever since. So we agreed to a golf match today to see who’s better. The loser has to pay one million...” His voice grew quieter and quieter.

”What’s wrong? No confidence?” Chen Fei glanced at him.

”Uh... a little. I didn’t know before, but today that guy claimed that he’d been to California, America, competed in an Intercontinental Golf Championship, and placed in the top three,” Dong Jianhui said, rubbing his head in frustration.

He was well aware that his own amateurish skills were only good enough to bully the average players in their circle. He couldn’t hold a candle to someone who ranked in the top three of a Californian Intercontinental Championship.

”Relax. If you can’t do it, you’ve still got me, right? If you lose, I’ll step in and give it a try,” Chen Fei suddenly said with a laugh.

Golf? I’ve never played, but that shouldn’t make a difference, right? It’s just bullying someone, after all. Hahaha.

”Brother Fei, you’re good at golf?” Dong Jianhui’s face lit up.

”You’ll see how good I am when the time comes. Alright, let’s get going. Didn’t you say you only postponed it by an hour?” Chen Fei said mysteriously, then urged him to get moving with a smile.

Now that he understood what was happening, he didn’t want the other man to be late and get gossiped about on his account.

The two then headed toward where Dong Jianhui’s Jaguar was parked. A few moments later, the car roared away from the airport, speeding toward the Dongyun International Private Club, a renowned gathering spot for the top circles of Jiangnan Province.

The Dongyun International Private Club was located in Emerald Starry Sky City, a suburb of Tongzhou in Jiangnan Province. It was a well-established, comprehensive golf course that had been in operation since the late ’80s and early ’90s. It was considered the benchmark for its industry in Tongzhou, and membership was a highly sought-after symbol of status.

The club’s founder was supposedly a man with the surname Zhou, the young nephew of a former number-one leader of Jiangnan Province. He was said to be very capable and was now likely in his forties or fifties, residing in the Capital City with a formidable background and network of connections.

As a result, almost no one in all of Jiangnan dared to cause trouble here, making the place quite intimidating.

”Brother Fei, this is the Dongyun International Private Club. It’s considered one of the very best in Jiangnan.” A little less than half an hour later, Dong Jianhui drove up to a low-key yet luxurious clubhouse.

”One of the best? It is quite nice,” Chen Fei said with a bit of surprise, his eyes glancing around before he nodded in approval.

Although he hadn’t frequented many places like this, neither the top-tier Private Luxury Clubhouse in Northern Mountain City, nor the places he’d seen in Macau, had made such a strong impression or felt as high-end as this club.

So this is what they mean by ’low-key luxury with substance.’

But that wasn’t the most important part. The most important thing was that he could actually see traces of Feng Shui and other esoteric arts in the club’s layout. Clearly, a master had designed this place.

”This place is indeed very nice,” he couldn’t help but say again.

”If you like it, Brother Fei, I can be your sponsor and have them issue you a Golden Level VIP card...” Dong Jianhui started to say, but he was suddenly cut off by a voice from nearby.

”Well, well, Young Master Dong. You finally decided to come back? I was starting to think you got scared and wouldn’t dare return.” Xiao Hao appeared at the club’s entrance, sneering at Dong Jianhui.

As he spoke, he feigned a glance at his watch and then exclaimed with exaggerated surprise, ”Huh? I seem to recall someone saying they’d be an hour late. But look at this, it’s been nearly an hour and a half. Could it be our great Young Master Dong really got scared and went to find backup?”

With that, he swept a cold, impatient gaze over Chen Fei, his eyes filled with suspicion and annoyance.

He clearly didn’t recognize Chen Fei, which meant the man wasn’t part of their circle. So why had Dong Jianhui brought him here? It could only mean one thing.

Dong Jianhui must have realized he wasn’t good enough, so he used that hour to find some outside help. How despicable...

Heh. A smirk crept onto Xiao Hao’s lips as he looked down on Chen Fei with disdain. So young, with such an unfamiliar face. Could he possibly be a skilled golfer? Does he really think that just grabbing some random person is enough to compete with me, Xiao Hao? Don’t be ridiculous. I placed in the top three of the California Intercontinental Championship. I’m practically a pro!

”Afraid? I’m starting to think you’re just good at flattering yourself. Let’s go. I’m eager to see just how amazing this so-called top-three finisher from the California Intercontinental Championship really is. Let’s hope you don’t wet your pants when you lose. That would be a sight to see. Heh,” Dong Jianhui, never one to back down from a verbal spar, retorted sharply, making the other man grind his teeth in anger.

”Good! Good! Good...” Xiao Hao’s expression turned ugly to the extreme. He gritted his teeth and said, ”Alright then! Old rules: judged by the number of strokes. The person who holes the ball in the fewest strokes wins! The loser pays the winner one million!”

”Fine, no problem,” Dong Jianhui immediately nodded, and they headed toward the golf course.

”Brother Hui, that Xiao Hao guy is unbelievably arrogant. He isn’t even warming up. Does he really think he has this in the bag?” As Dong Jianhui was changing and warming up, a handsome young man in his twenties wearing a floral shirt approached him, speaking with clear indignation.

”Didn’t he say he once placed in the top three of the California Intercontinental Championship? That’s a professional level. Of course he’s confident against amateurs like us,” Dong Jianhui said coolly, glancing at the newcomer.

”So, does that mean he’s guaranteed to win?” the man in the floral shirt asked, even more displeased.

”Not necessarily.”

Just then, Chen Fei, having changed his clothes as well, came out and smilingly patted Dong Jianhui’s shoulder. ”Just relax and play,” he said with a slight curve of his lips. ”If you lose, I’ll help you make him spit it back out, doubled.”

”This, this... Brother Hui, who is this?” Upon witnessing this scene, seeing the stranger so casually patting Brother Hui’s shoulder, the man in the floral shirt was completely stunned. ”This... this... Brother Hui, who is this?” he stammered, his eyes wide with shock and disbelief.

He and Dong Jianhui—Brother Hui—had been friends since childhood, growing up together. So, he knew better than anyone that despite his friend’s harmless, fluffy-blond-haired appearance, Dong Jianhui was incredibly proud at heart.

Therefore, forget a casual pat on the shoulder—normally, any action that slightly crossed the line would have definitely angered him.

But now... this stranger dared to pat Brother Hui’s shoulder so casually?

This... who on earth is he? What kind of background does he have?
