BANG!

With a dull thud, our very own Young Master Cheng Wanlong’s legs gave out, and he collapsed to his knees in terror. The sound of his kneecaps hitting the tile floor was quiet, but it sent a chill down everyone’s spine. Their faces went blank, and the atmosphere became deathly silent.

”Don’t, don’t hit me... I-I-I was wrong, please don’t hit me...” Young Master Cheng Wanlong pleaded, his teeth chattering. The pitch-black gun barrel was pressed against his temple, sending an icy chill through him.

He had never in his wildest dreams imagined that something so insane would happen… Why do they have a gun? And how dare they press it to my head in public, in front of everyone? Why? The moment he thought this, he was kicking himself with regret.

As a spoiled, arrogant young master, when had he ever encountered a situation like this? He was scared out of his wits.

”HISS!”

”This... this...”

He wasn’t the only one. Guo Kun, Zhou Xinyi, Guan Shiyin, and the others stared unblinkingly, their faces filled with disbelief as they looked at Chen Fei. Their eyes were fixed on the pitch-black gun barrel pressed against Young Master Cheng’s head, which sent an involuntary shiver down their spines.

Good heavens, this can’t be a dream, can it? Pointing a gun at someone’s head on the street is no joke. You get sent to prison for that!

The guard whose service weapon Chen Fei had snatched was obviously stunned as well. He never imagined his gun would be taken so suddenly, let alone used to create such a scene. He turned to Chen Fei and said awkwardly, ”Mr. Chen, I...”

Although he was acting on orders from Commander Xiao Pengcheng, he couldn’t help but feel conflicted. After all, if something went wrong, he would be held responsible—it was his gun.

”Here is my identification,” Chen Fei responded, casually producing a black ID booklet.

”This... this is... Yes, sir! I will obey!” Upon seeing the ID, even a man who served directly under Commander Xiao couldn’t stop his face from twitching. He snapped to attention, saluted, and responded loudly, just like a green recruit addressing a superior officer.

He couldn’t help it. A man of his position knew of the Flying Leopard, the massive special department that spanned the Three Provinces of Lingnan. He was keenly aware of the authority its members wielded. Forget ’merely’ pressing a gun to someone’s head in public; if Chen Fei shot the man dead right now, he could probably cook up some excuse and walk away without any consequences. Thinking of this, the guard immediately gave his comrades a look. In an instant, they moved to secure the perimeter.

Damn, this... Witnessing this, even Guo Kun, the son of the Executive Deputy Director of the Provincial Public Security Department, wore an expression of awe. He was no fool; quite the opposite, he was sharp. He had clearly seen how Chen Fei casually flashed a small ID that nearly made the armed man in black wet his pants. How could he not realize that Brother Fei’s background was far more formidable than he had imagined?

Seeing how things were developing, Young Master Cheng Wanlong finally seemed to realize how much trouble he was in. Staring at the cold, black barrel, he stammered, ”I-I’m sorry, brother. Today was my fault. It was Cheng Wanlong’s fault. I sincerely apologize to you and to Miss Guan.”

”Apologize? You think a simple apology will make this go away?” Chen Fei replied with a look of cold disdain.

If he hadn’t seen that slap with his own eyes, he might have shown a flicker of mercy and let it go with a simple punishment. But he had seen it, and he was still furious. He wasn’t going to be placated so easily.

”Then what do you want? Sir, I know you might be a big shot, but I, Cheng Wanlong, am not as simple as you think,” Young Master Cheng said, somehow finding a sliver of courage to straighten his back and speak coldly when he realized Chen Fei wasn’t letting him off. ”My surname is Cheng. My father is Cheng Yangsong, the Director of the Provincial Broadcasting and Television Bureau. And my godfather is Hee Zhengqin, the Deputy Provincial Governor. Now you know who I am. This was all just a misunderstanding, why make things so tense?”

As he spoke, Young Master Cheng seemed to regain some confidence, his posture becoming arrogant and almost defiant. One might admire his ability to rally and stand tall under such pressure, but our Chen Fei couldn’t be bothered to listen to his nonsense.

BANG!

With a dull thud, Chen Fei swung the butt of the gun, smashing it against Cheng’s head and leaving him stunned. The latter stared in disbelief and stammered, ”You... you still dare to hit me!?”

”Why wouldn’t I dare?” Chen Fei retorted with a sneer. His dark, limpid eyes, as clear as glass, flashed with a sharp light. ”Listening to you, it sounds like you’re quite used to bullying people with their names, aren’t you? Tsk, there’s an old saying: you don’t bring family into it. But here you are, insisting on dragging them through the fire... You’d better hope that your father and your so-called Deputy Governor godfather are both men of such perfect integrity that they have nothing to hide. Otherwise... heh heh...”

He let out a small chuckle, then waved a hand at the guards behind him. ”Take him away. I’ll have people from the Flying Leopard liaise with you.”

”Yes, sir!” The guards instantly stiffened and moved emotionlessly toward Young Master Cheng.

”No! No! You can’t do this! By what right? You don’t have the authority...” As he saw them approach, Young Master Cheng began to howl, his face contorted in a ferocious snarl, yet his eyes were filled with terrified pleading.

BANG!

In response, a cold glint flashed in one of the guards’ eyes. He casually swung his own gun butt and brought it down hard on Cheng’s head.

Instantly, Young Master Cheng Wanlong collapsed to the ground like a sack of meat.

The son of the Director of the Provincial Radio and Television Bureau? In their eyes, that was nothing compared to Chen Fei, a man with a Flying Leopard ID. They weren’t even in the same league.

A few moments later, after Young Master Cheng had been dragged away, Chen Fei walked over to Guan Shiyin and the others with a look of concern. ”Shi Yin, are you okay?” he asked, a hint of guilt on his face.

In truth, if he hadn’t reacted a bit slowly... and of course, he never anticipated it... Cheng Wanlong’s slap could have been avoided entirely. So, he felt a little embarrassed now.

”I’m fine, I’m fine. Thank goodness you arrived in time...” Guan Shiyin replied, her pretty face blushing slightly. Though she had been frightened by the scene, a woman’s heart is obviously more captivated by the drama of a hero saving the damsel in distress—especially when she herself was the leading lady.

”Miss Guan, my apologies. I never expected Cheng Wanlong to pull a stunt like that,” Guo Kun interjected suddenly, looking both embarrassed and apologetic.

He had been right there next to Guan Shiyin, yet the incident had still occurred, and she had been slapped by that scumbag Cheng Wanlong. It was a blow to his pride, and he was also worried that Brother Fei might hold a grudge against him for it.

”Young Master Guo, what are you saying? This had nothing to do with you. Who could have known Cheng Wanlong would act like that? Besides, I bet he’s kicking himself now, hee hee,” Guan Shiyin said, quickly shaking her head before letting out a playful giggle.

She wasn’t a fool. She knew that since Cheng Wanlong had been taken away by those men, the consequences for him would not be pleasant.

”This is called reaping what you sow. He has no one to blame but himself for throwing his weight around and acting so recklessly all the time. Now that he’s run into me, I will of course dispense justice for the people without mercy!” Chen Fei declared righteously.

”A scumbag like that deserves to be punished,” Guo Kun said with a worried expression. ”But Brother Fei, Cheng Wanlong’s father is Director Cheng Yangsong, and his godfather is Vice Governor Hee Zhengqin. If they find out about this, will there be trouble?”

Strictly speaking, even his own father was ’merely’ the Executive Deputy Director of the Provincial Public Security Department. In terms of rank, he was still a step below Cheng Wanlong’s father, the Director of the Provincial Broadcasting and Television Bureau. And that didn’t even account for his godfather, Vice Governor Hee Zhengqin... Even if the Vice Governor’s ranking within the province wasn’t the highest, he was still a Vice Governor.

”It doesn’t matter. If they find out, they find out. What can they do?” Chen Fei said with an unconcerned laugh, though a faint smirk played on his lips. This was clearly just his ’modest’ way of putting it; his earlier words had been no idle threat.

So what if they find out? What are they going to do about it? Are they looking to court disaster for themselves?

”Cheng Yangsong... and little Hee?”

Meanwhile, still in the Yunhai Hall on the seventh floor of the Caesar Grand Hotel, Elder Xiao Zhengguo had clearly received a report from his subordinates. He sat in his wheelchair, gazing quietly out the massive floor-to-ceiling window, his cloudy eyes flickering with a complex light as he murmured to himself.

”Dad, you were the one who promoted Elder Hee back in the day. Should we do something about this?” Xiao Lingshan, the Provincial Minister, couldn’t help but ask.

Vice Governor Hee Zhengqin had started his career in the military, specifically the Provincial Military Region of Jiangnan Province, and had even served under Elder Mr. Xiao for a long time. Because of this, his ties to the Xiao Family were deep, and their relationship was strong.

Now that this mess had inexplicably occurred, he was truly torn about whether to just turn a blind eye.

”...Sigh. I’ll give little Hee a call,” Elder Mr. Xiao said after a long silence. Having finally made a decision, he shook his head with a sigh, took out his phone, and dialed Vice Governor Hee Zhengqin’s number.
