Chapter 1378: Chapter 367: Energy Structure (3)

”Thus, hydroelectric power is separately listed and placed in an equal position with the three major fossil fuels: coal, oil, and gas.”

”In 1918, the proportion of hydroelectric power in our total national electricity production exceeded thirty percent, greatly accelerating the rapid development of a number of cities and industries, particularly in regions rich in water resources.”

”And the electric power industry is related to electrolytic aluminum, machinery, lighting, industrial and household electricity, holding enormous economic and social value.”

”Our country is one of the nations with the richest water resources. The application of these resources has greatly reduced our consumption of coal, oil, and natural gas.”

”And hydroelectric power itself is a renewable resource, significantly reducing the consumption of fossil fuels while easing the pressures and costs of the extraction and transportation of other energy sources.”

”The transportation of oil and coal relies on railways and highways, while the construction of natural gas pipelines requires significant costs. Comparatively, electricity can be transmitted nationwide more conveniently through high-voltage transmission, with relatively minimal impact on societal production and living activities.”

Currently, among the four major energy sources in East Africa, apart from coal, all have production levels consistently ranked first in the world. This is one reason for East Africa’s booming industrial development.

Minister Met stated, ”Our Ministry of Industry’s vision for the future energy of the Empire remains diversification and improving resource utilization efficiency.”

”Promoting technological advancements in the production of traditional energy like coal in the industrial sector, including increasing the degree of mechanized extraction, further popularizing large-scale excavation machinery in large mines, equipping more transportation vehicles, reducing the number of workers in hazardous jobs, and enhancing the safety of the working environment for frontline workers.”

”While steadily increasing coal output, continuously updating equipment and technology to improve production efficiency and worker safety.”

Direct employment in East Africa’s coal sector reaches as high as one million. After the end of the slave economy, previous management and equipment configuration, as well as technology in East Africa’s coal mines, especially smaller ones, are no longer applicable.

In the past, East Africa could ignore and sacrifice Black laborers’ life safety to increase output through high-intensity workloads. Now these issues must be resolved by improving the degree of mechanization.”

”In the oil production sector, further seeking new oil fields across the country and investing in more overseas oil fields to ensure the Empire’s long-term demand for oil resources.”

”Constructing more water conservation facilities, particularly promoting large-scale water engineering projects, to further increase the proportion of hydroelectric power in energy production, reduce energy production costs, and alleviate the burden on domestic enterprises and residents.”

”Finally, a series of large-scale pipeline systems are to be constructed nationwide to achieve the transportation of liquid fuels like oil and natural gas, further reducing the pressure and burden on road and rail transportation and saving transportation costs.”

After all, oil and natural gas are flammable and explosive materials, making their transport relatively high risk.

After Minister Met finished his report, other departments also presented their views on the current energy issues in East Africa.

Overall, East Africa’s energy demands are reflected in several aspects, including compressing production and transportation costs, improving utilization efficiency, emphasizing technological research and development, and ultimately maintaining energy security.”

This sense of concern underscores the East African Government’s worries about the country’s energy, especially regarding coal and oil. Although East Africa has certain reserves in these areas, its endowment is not as outstanding as that of countries like the United States and Russia. In fact, if not for the large population of the previous Far East Empire, its energy endowment would surpass that of East Africa.”

Of course, the Great Powers mentioned here refer to countries with large territorial areas and population bases. Although Germany is very strong, it cannot be considered a Great Power in comparison to the aforementioned countries. However, Germany’s size and population scale were sufficient at the beginning of this century.
