Chapter 1369: Chapter 364: Lobbying for Peace Efforts (Part 3)

Ambassador Koebling said, ”Your Majesty, please calm down. In fact, ceasing fire at this time is definitely more harmful than beneficial for Germany.”

”Germany has indeed made considerable sacrifices for the war, but you’ve already claimed some spoils, especially the land in Eastern Europe, which in itself is a victory, and the Allies have gained nothing.”

”At the same time, you’ve achieved the goal of weakening France. The French have suffered much more than Germany, losing a substantial portion of their population and economy.”

”And the issue of population has always been a major weakness for France. If they want to recover, it will be very difficult. It’s clear to the naked eye that it’s nearly impossible for France to challenge Germany again next time.”

”Now, for your country, the most important thing is to lift the blockade of war, settle social conflicts, and restore the economy, while also striking against the Labor Party and Jews to quell public anger.”

It’s undeniable that under Koebling’s persuasion, William II was somewhat tempted. After all, some of Koebling’s proposed solutions were quite feasible.

Moreover, if one compares the misery, the Allies seem to be in a much more tragic situation than Germany. If a ceasefire occurs, Germany can still gain some spoils, while the Allies suffer losses.

Of course, William II clearly couldn’t make a decision in a short time. He said to Ambassador Koebling, ”I will consider this matter, but your country must be able to convince England and France first.”

If England and France are unwilling to negotiate, it’s all in vain. Koebling replied, ”Naturally, our lobbying activities in East Africa have already begun among various European countries. Peace is the best option for all of Europe, especially with the frequent activities of Labor Party members on the European Continent.”

William II no longer engaged in much conversation with Koebling. After seeing Koebling off, he immediately gathered Germany’s top officials to discuss the matter of a ceasefire.

The attitudes of Germany’s high-level officials were also quite divided. Extremist militants naturally supported continuing the war, but many supported peace.

Although before the war, Germany’s internal militant sentiment was high, that was in the past. Now, in the fifth year of war, most people’s enthusiasm has long been exhausted. Many feel utterly fatigued by the war.

Of course, a ceasefire could be considered, but it had to be done with dignity. The proposal from East Africa to make the Labor Party and unscrupulous Jewish merchants scapegoats was a good idea. In Germany, the Junker nobility were the ones in charge, so if they could shift the blame for starting the war onto Jewish capital, there would be no psychological burden. After all, in a previous era, these Junkers had followed Adolf to harshly deal with the Jews.

The outbreak of World War I can entirely be blamed on Jewish capital, which sowed discord among various European countries, leading to the outbreak of the war, with the Labor Party being the Jewish accomplice. As long as the ordinary people of Germany believed it, other issues would be easier to resolve.

While Germany’s top officials were discussing, East African diplomats were also lobbying in various European countries. Besides the four major countries of England, France, Germany, and Austria-Hungary, other small European nations were also within East Africa’s scope of pursuit.

As for the United States, it was completely outside East Africa’s consideration. As long as European countries reached a consensus, the United States wouldn’t be able to play any role. Moreover, the United States itself was the hub of Jewish capital, making it impossible for East Africa to lobby the U.S. government.

The Jewish community in the United States has already achieved considerable political influence, which is entirely different from Europe unless the Anglo-Saxons people in the United States turned their backs on the Jews. However, this would likely lead to a resurgence of civil war in the United States.

While lobbying the governments of various countries, East Africa’s National Defense Security Bureau and other departments also launched a publicity campaign in Europe, spreading large-scale anti-war propaganda.

World War I itself was triggered by countries stirring up their national emotions, and naturally, this force can also be used to compel governments to cease fire. If the stubborn path continues, Tsarist Russia serves as a precedent, and the power of the public cannot be underestimated.

This counts as a two-pronged approach for East Africa, as the interests of European governments and the public are not aligned. Especially the attitudes of the lower classes toward war are evidently disdainful. In Germany, Austria-Hungary, the United Kingdom, and France, ninety-nine percent of the population hopes for the early end of the war. Only a few are unwilling to change due to personal ambitions and interests and insist on continuing the war.
