Chapter 1367: Chapter 364: Rushing About and Petitioning

Someone has to take responsibility for World War I. In the previous life, it was the Allies who bore this cost: Germany inherited a huge war indemnity, Austria-Hungary disintegrated, the Ottoman Empire disintegrated, Bulgaria ceded territory and paid reparations...

This was not the result East Africa wanted to see, but at present, the Allies’ hope of winning quickly is also quite slim. Just like the previous life with the Russo-Ukrainian War, World War I has now completely turned into a war of attrition and cannot end just because one country enters the fray.

The key issue is still the United States. Unless East Africa can have the ability to defeat the United States quickly after entering the war, the conflict between the Allies and the Entente cannot end quickly. East Africa does not want to fight for several years.

And now, if an armistice can be facilitated, the results will be different again. Europe would continue to maintain a fragile balance, East Africa would not need to bear the risk of war, and the U.S. investment would go down the drain.

East Africa is different from the United States. The U.S. has invested heavily in Europe, especially in indiscriminately lending, whereas East Africa has also earned quite a bit from Europe, but much of it was used to repay pre-war huge loans until after 1916 when it truly benefited from European trade.

Therefore, if the Allies and the Entente end the war at this time, both sides would be losers, which is advantageous for East Africa. The East African government is also considering post-war settlement issues, and throwing the black pot to the Jews is fitting.

After all, from historical experience, in medieval and modern Europe, when countries face financial crises, they like to target merchants, and Jews in Europe have equated to commerce to a certain degree, which is why a wave of anti-Semitism sweeps across Europe from time to time.

East Africa’s approach might be considered a replication of European traditional methods, diverting national contradictions onto specific groups.

February 1919.

East African diplomatic embassies in European countries start to exert influence. In this government-level exchange, East Africa naturally speaks of peace and nothing else but the words are deliberately guiding.

The capitalist groups, especially the inter-country capital disputes, are the root cause of World War I. After all, this cycle of war was caused by an unfair redistribution in capitalism, and Jewish capital controls most of European business activities while having always been a relatively strong capital force between Europe and America.

Of course, simply putting all the blame on Jewish capital is clearly wrong. After all, the old European aristocracy, bureaucrats, and local capitalists are not innocent.

Berlin.

”Peace talks, armistice!” In the Prussian palace, William II seemed to be angered into laughter: ”Ambassador Koebling, your ideas are simply child’s play. Germany has sacrificed over a million soldiers’ lives for this war; if we cannot achieve victory, how can I explain to all the citizens?”

Ambassador Koebling said to the already dazed William II: ”Your Majesty, you have already been blinded by the war, like two drunken drunkards, who escalate the conflict and engage in fierce fights, completely losing reason.”

”At this point, even if you kill the other person, the outcome will not develop as you expect. This war has reached today where Europe is destined not to have a winner.”

Germany has been a gambler during World War I, so Koebling believes his description that the German government has been blinded by the war and has fallen into an obsessed state is purely objective.

William II, full of resentment, said: ”Ambassador Koebling, you are right because indeed, East Africa has become the biggest winner. Just the money made from the war is enough to elevate East Africa’s economy to a new level but I must take responsibility for the future of the German people.”

Ambassador Koebling explained: ”Of course, I completely understand the responsibility you bear, Your Majesty. The fate of the entire Germany’s twenty-two federal states, three Free Cities, and one directly governed area are all in your hands.”

”At the same time, under your leadership, you have achieved an economic leap, with Industry and military being unprecedentedly strong, constructing the world’s strongest army and the second strongest navy, so I can understand your desire to lead Germany further, reaching heights and honors this country has never achieved before...”

Koebling didn’t hurry to refute and deny William II. Instead, he lavished praise on William II’s accomplishments, as East Africa’s diplomatic department still understands William II’s psyche quite well.

William II is relatively insecure and arrogant, hoping to receive affirmation from the world, especially the German people. However, his thoughts are extremely stubborn, so Koebling catered to his preferences by first praising William II to the skies.

While Koebling tirelessly and expertly recounted William II’s heroic achievements, William II himself felt somewhat embarrassed by the flattery.

After all, what Koebling said is factual. If it were before World War I, the impression William II left on the German people was indeed that of a competent monarch.

This subconsciously made William II believe Koebling’s words, which dissipated much of his anger, yet he still coldly said: ”Alright, Ambassador Koebling, there is no need for more flattery. I think you should know the predicament Germany faces today. If East Africa truly wants to help us, then join us. As long as East Africa joins the Allies, the defeat of the Entente is just a matter of time.”

”I myself can also promise to give East Africa considerable interests after the war, jointly dividing the reins of the world.”
