Chapter 1368: Chapter 364: Rallying for Action (Part 2)

Seeing that William II’s emotions had stabilized, he even took the initiative to invite East Africa to join the war.

It was at this moment that Kebeling began to speak to William II: ”Your Majesty, although your proposal is very tempting, I do not think continuing the war is a good idea for Germany. Even if Germany’s top leaders can stand united, I’m afraid the military and civilians can no longer support it.”

”What do you think of Russia nowadays, Your Majesty?” Instead of continuing, Kebeling moved on to talk about Russia with William II.

William II had no idea what Kebeling was thinking, but he responded: ”Nicholas II, that useless person? It’s precisely his arrogance and incompetence that led to Russia’s current failure, leaving room for the enemy to exploit.”

Evidently, the enemy William II referred to was the Russian Labor Party.

Kebeling said: ”Indeed, Russia has changed. The Labor Party has basically stabilized the domestic situation, but precisely because of this, Russia’s previous lessons are even more worth heeding. Your Majesty, what do you think allowed the Russian Labor Party to sweep the nation and defeat the former government in such a short time?”

This question by Kebeling prompted William II to ponder, and after a moment of silence, he said: ”Nothing more than inciting uninformed Russian troublemakers and taking advantage of Russia’s chaotic situation to succeed.”

William II’s perspective resonated with Kebeling, who said: ”Yes, the Russian Labor Party has a very strong ability to incite, and the masses are ignorant. They even managed to turn the Tsar’s army against him. Without the defection of the Russian military, Nicholas II could never have become a prisoner and his fate become uncertain.”

”However, I believe that the dilemma Nicholas II faced requires Your Majesty’s vigilance because I see similar difficulties now appearing in Germany.”

”This is already the fifth year of war. Even if the German army has stronger fighting spirit than the Russian army, such fighting spirit will wane over time. Meanwhile, war-weariness is beginning to permeate throughout German society.”

”Apathetic masses are terribly frightening, and Germany is also a region where the Labor Party and unscrupulous Jewish merchants are active. The German Labor Party can similarly take advantage of the current dissatisfaction among the German people to threaten Your Majesty’s rule.”

”Many greedy Jewish merchants are exploiting the war to make a fortune, smuggling war supplies, and inflating prices, worsening Germany’s already difficult economy. Their actions deeply wound the ordinary German populace, and this facilitates the Labor Party’s activities in Germany.”

”Therefore, Germany is actually at a very dangerous point. If the war continues, both the Labor Party and the Jews could jeopardize the Empire’s future.”

”I won’t emphasize internal crises any further because Germany’s societal issues have accumulated too much; conflicts are always at the brink of eruption. I believe Your Majesty can feel this.”

”Even someone of Your Majestic status feels the predicament, so the struggles of the German people are even more dire. Germany can be said to have become a volcano on the verge of eruption, not knowing when it will explode.”

”The external threat is also very clear: if the war doesn’t end quickly, once Russia’s civil war concludes, the Russian Labor Party is bound to launch a new war. They might not even need to start a war; just supporting Europe’s Labor Party could throw the entire continent into chaos.”

”This is also what we in East Africa are worried about. We cannot watch Europe fall into the hands of the Labor Party. Faced with such a formidable enemy, I believe both the Allies and the Allies should temporarily make peace.”

Kebeling’s words were objective facts, just selectively highlighted. Indeed, Germany is under high pressure now, the Labor Party is active, and some Jewish merchants have done a lot to stoke public anger.

Does William II not understand this? Of course, he does, but it is precisely because of the difficulties Germany faces today that he wants to win the war even more.

He retorted: ”But, Ambassador Koebling, even if we do choose to ceasefire, will these difficulties we face be easily resolved? I wonder what suggestions you might have to teach me?”

Kebeling shook his head and said: ”Your Majesty, I never said a ceasefire would solve the problems, but if we don’t ceasefire, Germany is bound to face these issues.”

”However, if there is a ceasefire, the Imperial Government will be in a better position to address these problems, and the situation might not be as dire as you imagine.”

”The consequences of a ceasefire can entirely be blamed on the Jews. After all, it is a fact that they profited from the war. People just need an outlet to vent their emotions accumulated over these five years.”

”The Labor Party also offers a good excuse. After all, their actions indeed negatively impacted the war, so holding them accountable along with the Jews for their betrayal in the post-war period will be enough to calm public outrage.”

”At the same time, it would relieve the post-war financial pressure on the government. During the war, most of Germany’s wealth has flowed into their pockets.”

And you in East Africa! William II muttered to himself, and thinking this, he got angry again. Of course, he didn’t target East Africa, but instead asked: ”And what about the Allies? If we ceasefire, what price should the Allies pay?”
