High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2350: Chapter 571: Blood Will Illuminate All Things in the World

Like a summer storm.

Fierce, intense, yet fleeting.

It descended when people were caught off guard, then vanished without a trace in an instant.

The cleansing process of the First University’s School Guardian Array against ’intruders’ was also not lengthy; in a short time, the densely packed thunder turned the entire battlefield into scorched earth. The large head at the core of the attack was struck into wisps of smoke upon the first strike of the thunderstorm, retreating back into the pyramid building, which then toppled onto the blackened ground.

But contrary to the trend of a summer storm.

The prelude to a summer storm is calm, stifling, with low pressure almost suffocating people. After the storm, the whole world rejuvenates with vitality; however, before the ’thunderstorm’ of the School Guardian Array fell, this battlefield in the depths of the Silent Forest, though not full of vitality, was bustling with life. After the ’thunderstorm’, it turned into a dead zone, lifeless and silent, resembling the prelude to a summer storm.

The pyramid building of the illegal laboratory toppled crookedly to the ground, its exterior pitch-black, with broken walls and scars, leaving one to doubt if there were any living beings inside.

The First University and the four hunting teams from the Trident Sword, being the closest, were the most affected. Even though they initiated a second-rank battle formation before the ’thunderstorm’ descended, it was of no avail. The few true forms condensed by the battle formation were shattered. Thanks to the emblems of the school and the Trident Sword worn on their bodies, which had some effect in dispersing the attack of the Guardian Array, they barely retained some mobility after the ’thunderstorm’.

As for the other two hunting teams at the edge of the battlefield, they were not spared either. The second-rank battle formation was shattered, and the hunters were severely injured. Among all seven hunting teams, perhaps only the Atonement Hunting Team managed to withstand most of the thunderstorm because they used the talisman rewarded by Professor Yao, barely maintaining the operation of the second-rank battle formation.

Even so, the indigo skin of the giant from the Bo Fu Clan flickered under the grayish white sunlight, as if its true form might silently collapse the next second due to magic power out of control.

...

...

Above the thunderclouds.

A thick cloud mass did not dissipate with the departure of the thunderstorm, stubbornly hanging in the sky.

If it were normal times, its existence would have surely alerted the hunters, but now, the attention of everyone on the battlefield was focused on the seemingly lifeless pyramid building, making that cloud increasingly secure.

Within the clouds, a giant gray-white raven spread its wings, steadily hovering in the air. Crow No. 3 stretched its neck, its head protruding from its back, trying hard to look down.

Before him, the mentor of the ravens, Professor Montreya, was softly explaining the basic operational rules of the First University’s School Guardian Array: ”...The Thunder Curse is fundamentally the bane of most black magic. When the First University’s School Guardian Array passively counterattacks, the first spell is the Thunder Curse, and this is not without reason. Because in the view of the wizards who established this array, only demons and black wizards would have the crazy idea of attacking the First University, so it’s more than appropriate to prepare the Thunder Curse for them...”

”You just mentioned ’the first spell of passive counterattack by the Guardian Array’, does it mean there is a second, third, or even more spells?” Crow No. 3 couldn’t help but interrupt the professor’s analysis.

”Yes, but if the first spell eliminates the threat, like now, the airborne laboratory has fallen back to the ground, and the Guardian Array no longer senses a threat, it naturally won’t waste more magic power... It’s very precise, and very rigid.”

”What about that old Walter guy? Why hasn’t he moved? Is he dead?”

”He won’t die.”

Professor Montreya, still with his eyes closed, spoke with a hint of helplessness: ”Did you forget, we transplanted the bloodline of the Thunder Titan into him. Even the school didn’t expect that today, after disturbing the Guardian Array, the one engulfed by the thunderstorm would be a monster with the Thunder Titan bloodline... Such a level of lightning strike not only can’t kill it but will significantly enhance its power. It’s like throwing a fire dragon into lava or a giant whale into the sea.”

”You mean, he might have intentionally lured the Guardian Array’s attack?”

Compared to the elderly, the young always lack patience, just like now, Crow No. 3 stared at the half-destroyed pyramid building, his brow furrowing into a knot: ”I said from the beginning, this matter shouldn’t involve a black wizard... Especially someone like Old Walter, a diehard heretic follower, with no sense of a wizard’s contractual spirit, like a ticking time bomb... We hired him for magical experiments, not to let him go mad! Look at what he did? Brazenly disrupting our plan, recklessly provoking the school, just to satisfy his pursuit of power...”

”Which wizard has not fallen into the darkness for the pursuit of power?” The professor finally opened his eyes, looking curiously at Crow No. 3: ”Power is a manifestation of truth, what difference is there in our pursuit of truth and his pursuit of power?”

The professor’s words were exceptionally sharp, piercing straight through the invisible mask on the young wizard’s face. Fortunately, he had a real mask to hide his flushed face at this moment.

Perhaps the professor also felt his remarks were slightly harsh, so he softened his tone and added: ”Most black wizards are very conservative because they lack power. They only become mad in their pursuit of power. At other times, they are very cautious and timid... This imbalance of mentality is very dangerous... Because when they suddenly gain great power, they easily get lost in the surging magic power, unconsciously maintaining their frenzied state in the pursuit of power... Just like now... listen...”

Crow No. 3 adjusted his mask, inclined his ear to listen.

Beneath the clouds.

A soft humming suddenly rose from the scorched earth, the voice hoarse and rough, like two broken pieces of wood rubbing against each other, yet the emotions conveyed in the humming were delicate and subtle, causing everyone to unconsciously hold their breath, concentrating——

...

Before the pyramid landed, beautiful bubbles rose and held it up

Blood-stained beast, stop crying

Do not suffocate pain

Raise your head and look at the starry sky

Soon, the ravens will descend, bringing us stones, twigs, and amber light

One day the sun will set, and we will depart

...

In the long wait, pain first disappears, then reappears

We open our eyes wide, wiping away tears

Then we see the truth

Pain is the fruit of truth

Pain will purify the blood

And the blood will illuminate all things in the world

Raise your head and look at the starry sky

Soon, the ravens will descend, bringing us stones, twigs, and amber light

One day the sun will set, and we will depart
