High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2322: Chapter 543: Return to the Sakura Pub

The bar that Zheng Qing chose for the Absolution Hunting Team was the Sakura Pub located in the North Beita Town.

The moment Xin Fat Man heard this name, he clearly expressed his disdain for the young cost student with his expressions and words.

”You were saying ’take a break’, ’don’t stretch the string too tight’, ’we’ll think about catching the Black Wizard after we wake up tomorrow’,” the Fat Wizard rolled his eyes, his tone full of sarcasm: ”I really believed it... Are you still suspecting the Northern District Wizards?”

During a previous internal discussion of the Absolution Hunting Team, there were several guesses about the Black Wizard’s origins, and one of the most clear targets was the Northern District Wizards—because the desire for magical knowledge shown in the ’White Crow’s’ confession was something they had only seen in the Northern District Wizards.

So when he heard Zheng Qing’s destination, the Fat Wizard’s first reaction was that Zheng Qing was using drinking as an excuse to gather information.

However, Zheng Qing was determined not to admit to Xin Fat Man’s ’slander’.

”Just purely going for a drink!”

The young cost student remained unflustered but refused to meet the Fat Wizard’s eyes: ”Going to the Sakura Pub is because it’s cheap there... Didn’t the Wandering Wizard take away my gold card from the Wandering Bar?”

In any case, intentionally or unintentionally, the Absolution Hunting Team ultimately went to the Sakura Pub.

The pub was located at No. 33 Gu Diao Street in the North Beita Town. Outside Gu Diao Street, they encountered Northern District Wizards in shabby robes distributing flyers, handing a few to them as well. Upon seeing the opening words ’Please give me a frog’, Zheng Qing immediately frowned, crumpled the flyer into a ball, and threw it into a grey cloth bag.

”Endless,” Dylan’s somewhat displeased mumbling came to his ears.

The Fat Wizard retorted habitually: ”No revolution can be accomplished overnight; it’s a long and arduous process. The fact that they can maintain this ’peaceful’ attitude and only strive for public support through public opinion during this process is already remarkable.”

”I hope they can always remain this peaceful,” Zheng Qing sincerely wished.

Mister Wolfman snorted: ”They want peace because they only have one Big Wizard, who hasn’t been promoted for long. If there were ten or eight Big Wizards in the Northern District, or if there were a Legend, would they still be willing to make such compromises?”

Zheng Qing was noncommittal about such a hypothesis.

But this time, after entering the Northern District, he felt something completely different from his impression—garbage piles that used to be everywhere had disappeared without a trace, and the dirty walls and layers of graffiti had been replaced with rows of not-so-tall but clean and tidy small houses.

All of this was closely related to the Big Wizard born in the Northern District.

At the entrance to Gu Diao Street, there was a newly erected delicate archway, with several grey-robed Northern District Wizards standing under the gate, fiddling with fat frogs in their hands, with thick, bulging law books hanging from their waists, vigilantly scrutinizing every passerby, occasionally verifying the identity of some trying to enter Gu Diao Street.

A row of bamboo baskets was neatly lined up in the shadow of the archway not far from them. As Zheng Qing passed by, he could faintly hear the lazy grunts of amphibians inside the baskets.

They probably didn’t know their destiny, the young cost student thought with a faint touch of melancholy.

Under a section of wall deep in the street, on the blue stone slab road, a wizard with his face hidden under a hood was waving his arms, loudly criticizing the admission policies of the First University to the onlookers: ”...to hell with talent! To hell with exams! To hell with faith! To hell with battle! Receiving higher magical education is necessary for every wizard! They can’t use these ridiculous reasons to impose such restrictions on the people of the Northern District! What are they afraid of?...”

”Probably afraid of becoming as stupid as they are,” Dylan whispered mockingly.

Zheng Qing glared at him warningly.

This was the Northern District; he didn’t want to stir up any trouble beyond his task.

Compared to the drastically changed Gu Diao Street, the Sakura Pub still looked the same as in Zheng Qing’s memory, unchanged. The quaint two-story building still had white walls and black tiles, and the small garden downstairs, with cherry blossom trees in the corners, remained lush as ever, with colorful blooms blooming in this cold season, and the air was filled with a faint fragrance.

A mountain does not have to be high to be famous if there is an immortal.

This phrase suddenly popped into Zheng Qing’s mind.

Although there were no changes in the appearance of this small courtyard, its temperament had undergone a complete transformation because a Big Wizard resided there permanently. Crossing the threshold, the not-so-tall two-story building suddenly felt majestic and colossal, like a small mountain abruptly appearing in front of him, causing one to involuntarily hold their breath and focus.

After Korma progressed, he had also come here a few times, but he had never had such a clear feeling.

Perhaps she also received some benefits from the mister?

The young cost student’s mind was filled with wild thoughts, a bit of inexplicable guilt in his eyes, and his steps unconsciously slowed down a little, attracting a suspicious glance from Doctor Xiao.

”Should we go upstairs to say hello?” the short Warlock reminded.

Upstairs was originally where the Gini Cottage gatherings were held. Since the Northern District Wizard emerged, it had become the headquarters of the Jini Wizard Group, and if Korma was in the Northern District, she would spend most of her time there.

”No, we’re just here to drink today!” Zheng Qing resolutely shook his head.

Due to its special status, the Sakura Pub was not open to the public during regular hours—here, ’public’ only referred to the ordinary Northern District Wizards—yet the students of the First University had extensive and hidden privileges throughout the entire Beta Town. For example, they only needed to show their student card to grandly enter the apparently closed small pub.

The pub didn’t have many guests, but due to its small space, it felt especially lively.

Most of the guests were students from the First University stranded on the island, coming here out of curiosity or for the ’Please give me a frog’ movement, to broaden their horizons; a minority of guests belonged to the ’elite’ among the Northern District Wizards. Just looking at their clean and tidy robes and the ruby rings they wore, it was clear they were distinct from the Northern District Wizards outside who still used frogs as spellcasting materials.

Zheng Qing had somewhat made a name for himself at the First University.

As soon as he entered, he quickly attracted many sneaky glances and whispers. Although Zheng Qing’s transformation side effects had greatly eased, his hearing was still excellent. Given the small size of the shop, he easily picked up words like ’Su Councilor’s husband’, ’not even handsome’, ’during the moonlight ball’, ’cheating’, ’coward’, and other strange terms.

The boy’s face immediately fell.

To the extent that even after the first Green Bee drink went down his throat, the frustration in his heart hadn’t dissipated.
