Chapter 2345: Chapter 566: Werewolf

Zheng Qing looked up at the sky.

He wondered if it was just an illusion, but he felt someone had just called his name above his head.

However, as far as he could see, apart from a sun like a Protein Stone and a few dense clouds, there was no other scenery in the sky. Even the birds of Silent Forest wisely avoided this battlefield where magic power surged.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A series of crisp explosions quickly pulled the young cost student’s gaze back.

The center of the battlefield.

The illegal laboratory, stripped of two layers of its shell, exposed its intricate pyramid-like core. Now, wreaths of orange flames spiraled upwards around the ’Pyramid’.

”...The enemy actively detonates the magical nodes on the adhesive surface, causing reverse interference with our traction array... All units, please stay alert, and watch for the enemy’s potential escape...”

A azure flame hovered above the Absolution Hunting Team, a bird’s head emerged from the flame, chirping reports on the latest status of the battlefield—once Mister Buns completed his liaison task, he left behind this Blue Bird, while only the five young hunters of the Absolution Hunting Team remained in this area.

Without outsiders, everyone’s state was very relaxed.

”Those raven heads still have some combat sense, knowing they can’t let the Trident Sword strip off its ’clothes’ layer by layer, exposing the dazzling white buttocks.”

Dylan hung upside down on a tree branch, swaying as he watched the fireballs burst in the distance, letting out a big yawn, revealing two pale little fangs: ”...But for this situation, I would assume the Divination Group already has a contingency plan.”

”Without a doubt.”

Xin Fat Man sat sprawled in front of the tree, with a picnic cloth printed with a huge Flower Cat head beneath him, his hefty buttocks crushing the cat’s head accurately. Holding a plate of fruit, he carefully picked grapes from the platter with a toothpick, mumbling analysis: ”Even with my level of divination, I could foresee those ravens desperately reacting...”

His voice abruptly halted here.

Because beneath the orange fireballs from the explosions, emerged dark holes, approximately a meter in diameter—excuse the improper metaphor, at this moment the illegal laboratory was like an inverted Hive.

Poof! Poof! Poof!

Heavy sputtering sounds intermittently rang, spurting out seed-like things from those murky holes, akin to a massive scatter-mining vehicle. Those ’seeds’ traced crisscrossing arcs in mid-air before landing on the ground with sharp ends burrowing into the earth, leaving thick ends protruding obliquely above.

In a moment they covered half the battlefield.

”I guess those boxes contain the ravens’ experimental subjects.” The Fat Wizard finally chewed the grape he’d held in his mouth for so long, confidently speculating.

Then, he wiped his hands on the checkered cloth, hastily began tidying his ’picnic’ essentials.

”Not eating anymore?” Zheng Qing shot him a glance, and snickered.

”When eating, enjoy blissfully; when fighting, do so fervently.” The Fat Wizard chuckled heartily, rummaging through his Law book without lifting his head: ”The saying goes, ants can bite an elephant to death... with so many experimental subjects, at first glance, numbers surpassing a hundred, it seems those four hunting teams will struggle to cope.”

Perhaps to illustrate this sentence of his.

The azure flame hovering above the Absolution Hunting Team suddenly enlarged a few sizes. Its tongues of flame stretched out, sketching the form of a little Blue Bird—evidently, a more formal manifestation than merely showing a bird’s head earlier.

”Cough, cough!”

The little Blue Bird covered its mouth with its wings, coughed twice, then solemnly reported: ”Combined Command orders, the Absolution Hunting Team, Baize Hunting Team, and Iron Cross Hunting Team to strengthen patrols according to their assigned areas, and be prepared to support at any time!”

The tongues of flame swirled, once again turning the Blue Bird into a tranquil fireball.

Crack!

Along with the mechanical collision noise, the glass hatches on the ’seeds’ opened to either side, releasing clusters of white mist from the capsules, trickling down streams of light green viscous fluid.

”The bandit winds rise, end of the wind and storm!”

”The bandit winds drift, end of the wind and smog!”

”The bandit winds blow, end of the wind and haze!”

Almost instantly, three bright, composite spells resonated from three directions of the battlefield. The specially tactical subteams and crisis support groups of the Trident Sword seamlessly unleashed this Wind Spell, tearing the emerging white mist from the breeding capsules to shreds in the furious wind before they could merge completely.

The weird stench in the wind blew into the border zone of the Absolution Hunting Team.

Dylan flipped off the tree with a huff, vigorously sniffing the air.

”These damn ravens... they’ve crossed the line.”

A trace of gloom surfaced on his face.

No need for further explanation, everyone understood the source of Mister Blood Werewolf’s current anger.

One capsule after another fell, opened, releasing wolf-head, human-bodied monsters. They opened glaring red eyes, let out low growls from their throats, black Scale Armors enveloping their bodies, enormous palms hanging white sharp claws, with necks, waists, and crofts fully covered in long black hair. Behind them, a whip-like steel tail swung side to side, producing heavy whistling sounds.

Light green viscous cultivation fluid slid off them slowly, dripping to the ground, corroding the soil into tiny black pits, out of which blue smoke promptly rose.

Without question, these experimental subjects have derived their lineage from Werewolves.

Or to put it bluntly, they were concocted by Ravens using certain inferior Werewolves.

Whichever possibility it might be, this situation was an insult to the Werewolf Clan of the Moon Council. The half Werewolf blood flowing in Dylan’s veins couldn’t dismiss this provocation.

As Matthew Karen often put it, this concerned the Moon’s Glory.

Fortunately, Mister Blood Werewolf retained a thread of clarity, aware of his identity. He turned to Zheng Qing, speaking in a notably earnest tone: ”Under such circumstances, I must intervene.”

The Captain of the Absolution Hunting Team considered briefly.

”Swordsmen, Gentlemen, step forward,” he briskly delivered orders: ”You two are to freely hunt within our patrol area, ready to support allies within the field... Everyone else, Triangle Battle Array at the ready!”

”Yes!” Dylan nodded slightly.

”Received!” Rarely did Blue Bird speak more than others, too.

Before Zheng Qing had a chance to retort, the two Starry Sky Academy teammates transformed into wisps of blue smoke, vanished from his sight, swallowing the words of advice he intended to share.

”I’m sure they’ve endured quite long enough.” The Fat Wizard patted his belly, analyzing with a knowing air: ”And as for the Gentleman guy, don’t be fooled by his usual suave demeanor... Do Starry Sky Academy people have even One Copper’s worth of civility with them? I suspect at least half of his apparent indignation was feigned.”

”Absolutely.” Zheng Qing nodded, muttering quietly: ”The part belonging to Vampires couldn’t be enraged for Werewolves’ disgrace... they might even raise a toast.”
