High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2326: Chapter 547: A Good Deed a Day

”Hehe!”

Looking at the beautiful bow, the sprite happily hugged the wandering wizard’s finger, making joyful sounds, her translucent wings gently flapping, their surface shimmering with enchanting light.

”It’s alright, it’s alright... everything will be fine.”

The elder wizard muttered, his fingertips gently caressing her head, while a faint gray spell light surged from his palm like a hunting serpent, gradually coiling around the sprite. The just-recovered sprite slowly closed her eyes within the spell light, her skin turning gradually gray-white, but still maintaining a grateful smile on her face.

Zheng Qing, witnessing all this, said nothing and swung a fist heavily onto the wandering old man’s face, his fist deeply embedded into the elder wizard’s head. The young man only felt as if his fist had plunged into boiling water, grimacing in pain, while the opponent remained oblivious.

This gave him a strong sense of defeat, both mentally and physically.

”Hypocrite.”

The other occupant of the booth, Crow No.3, sharply commented: ”If you won’t give her a way out, why treat her injuries? Just to satisfy your absurd sense of existence, or to gain that cheap gratitude?”

The wandering wizard took out a silk scarf from his pocket, carefully wrapping it around the sprite’s gradually stiffening body.

”You are the one who killed her.”

The elder wizard continued his actions leisurely, without lifting his head, speaking in a bland tone: ”I truly intended to heal her... if you hadn’t appeared at the wrong place at the wrong time. She needn’t have died.”

The raven felt a chill upon hearing this.

While the elder wizard’s words carried a hint of sophistry, they were not wrong. According to the normal communication arrangement between the raven and the wandering wizard, he shouldn’t have come here tonight.

The atmosphere inside the booth was quite unsettling, even those fireflies with scarcely any neural strands sensed the strands of gloom flowing in the air, quietly contracting their abdomens and folding their wings, dimming the light in the room.

A moment passed.

Seemingly realizing that the raven wouldn’t speak actively, the owner of the Wandering Bar tucked the wrapped sprite corpse into the drawer, adjusted himself, and finally looked up at the guest: ”So, what did you come to me for tonight?”

Crow No.3’s gaze was somewhat stiff.

”According to the agreement, tonight you need to provide ten ordinary wizard-level experimental subjects, but the lab reported that only nine were received... one is missing.” The voice beneath the raven mask was mechanical and cold.

The wandering wizard showed a hint of surprise.

”Still one short?”

He pretentiously drew a Tarot card, flipped it over, the face showing a goddess sitting on a stone chair, majestically gazing ahead, holding a longsword in her left hand and a balance in her right, at the bottom of the card ’justice’ stood out starkly in the cramped booth.

”Justice... though it may be delayed, it will never be absent.”

The elder wizard flicked his fingers, rudely snapping the card, the balance on the card swayed violently left and right, the goddess sitting on the stone chair angrily stood, swung her sword toward the card’s defiler outside, and the next moment, the entire card silently split in two, the fracture smooth as if actually sliced by a sword.

Then, the owner of the Wandering Bar finally looked up at the guest wearing a raven mask, chuckled lightly: ”Zhuangzi once said, the good riders fall off their horses, the good swimmers drown, the good drinkers get drunk, the good fighters perish in battle... today I perform a good deed, the good sellers of slaves shall become slaves themselves.”

Crow No.3 stared directly at the elder wizard, his eyes embedded in the eerie mask, looking particularly terrifying.

”You are speaking of that fat man in the North District? What does he have to do with you...” Before finishing, his words were abruptly cut off, the raven’s gaze showing some hint of contemplation.

The wandering wizard took a bottle of Amber Light and two wine glasses from the liquor cabinet behind him, poured two glasses, and handed one to the guest before him: ”Remember now? Isn’t it right... without my reminder, how would he have begged to become your experimental subject... actually, I didn’t lie to him either, your experimental subjects have indeed now been able to stabilize registered wizard-level power, right?”

”Just stable power... irrational power, with no value at all.” Crow No.3’s gloomy eyes accepted that glass of Amber Light.

”His greatest value is to contribute to the magical theoretical enterprise.” The wandering wizard raised his glass, proactively clinking it with the guest’s, simultaneously reminding: ”By the way, a glass of Amber Light is one gold bean... rest assured, this price is discounted, the most favorable in the whole venue!”

The raven’s hand stiffened as it brought the glass to his mouth.

After a brief moment, he heavily placed the empty glass on the bar counter, turned, and left the booth directly. Behind him, in the glass, a gold-colored bean shivered and then ceased trembling.

Ding ding dang dang.

Ding dang.

Ding.

The sound of gold beans rolling in the glass mixed with the sound of clashing glasses, occasionally distant, sometimes close, occasionally light, sometimes heavy, giving a strong sense of unreality.

Sakura Pub, before the bar.

Zheng Qing, drunk and slumped over the table, suddenly raised his head, his face still flushed, but his eyes extraordinarily clear as rain-cleared night, where stars could be seen.

Wandering wizard, raven mask, Gu Diao Street, fat wizard, white mist, night, and so on, everything in the dream washed away like a sandcastle after a tide, rapidly disintegrating, somehow he had already returned to reality.

The young man wiped his damp forehead, his eyes gradually focusing.

”Absolution!”

He shouted loudly, reached out to extract the copper Law book stuffed in a grey cloth bag — he must do something while the memories witnessed in his mind remained clear.

Blue Bird holding a sword, Xin Fat Man drinking frog juice, Dylan shaking a wine glass, and Xiao Xiao turning blue from drinking too much Sea Monster Langmu, all looked at their own team leader suddenly acting out, seeing him flip open the Law book.

”Capture him!”

Zheng Qing’s voice was loud and his eyes clear, staring intently at the fat wizard dressed in a fine robe sitting in the corner of Sakura Pub, clearly repeating: ”Capture that fat man!”

The fat wizard was clinking glasses with several companions, his bald face piled with a friendly smile, around his table were also Northern District Wizards wearing ruby rings, staff from the First University, businessmen wizards in black robes, and mysterious figures with faces hidden under hoods.

Perhaps noticing the small commotion before the bar, the fat wizard tilted his head and looked with surprise at the young cost student.

”Binding Spell!”

Zheng Qing shouted, several vines leveraging their kind hanging from the ceiling, crazily thickening and lengthening, like ropes from all directions, twisting towards the fat wizard.

Inside the small pub, cries of surprise erupted.
