High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2304: Chapter 525: Confidential

”Most of the contamination caused by black wizards is infectious, and if not thoroughly cleaned, it will cause lasting and profound damage to the magical environment. You can think of it as a firebreak carved out during a fire. We cut down some trees to protect more trees.”

”If you encounter something incomprehensible during the hunt, or face an enemy clearly beyond the hunting team’s capacity, you must contact the Trident Sword immediately... If time permits, you can also notify the school. Of course, this would naturally reduce the evaluation of the hunting team’s mission. At this point, it requires the Hunting Team Leader to weigh the options: survival versus scores.”

”Too many young hunters are overly confident when executing tasks and lack awareness of the world’s degree of awfulness. Trust me, during task execution, the death of innocents is not the worst thing you can imagine...”

The voice of Examiner Ancient Well Without Waves echoed in the office, as if he were a robot, and no modal particles could make his tone change even a little.

Until the review of hunting team data was complete, he switched to a stack of documents and a white feather pen, dipped the pen tip in the ink bottle next to him, then raised his head, his gaze lingering for a moment on the five young hunters: ”We need to conduct a personal qualification review now, who wants to start?”

The teammates’ eyes all fell on Zheng Qing.

The young cost student cleared his throat but didn’t have time to speak before the examiner designated a target: ”That chubby classmate? Yes, you... you first.”

Xin Fat Man looked bewildered, not knowing why he was chosen.

”Sinn Bana?”

”Sinn Bana Schmidt-Bayer, sir.” Xin Fat Man rarely had the chance to use his full name, instinctively straightening his body and making his robe corner more upright.

”How many years in the hunting team?”

”One year and two months, sir, since the founding of the Atonement Hunting Team...”

”Possesses a special giant bloodline.” The examiner rudely interrupted Xin’s self-introduction and began reciting the information on the parchment in front of him: ”... Skilled in magic potion preparation and communication, has strong stress resistance... Currently serves as a campus journalist, strongly believes he is qualified for the ’Golden Feather’... Has a special affection and deep obsession with cooked meat...”

Upon reading this, the examiner raised his head, a hint of confusion on his face: ”Cooked meat? In the literary sense, or the physical sense?”

Xin Fat Man seemed even more confused than him: ”Meaning? ... Cooked meat is fragrant... cooked meat.”

”Oh, understood... Certainly, this ’special affection’ is still... quite rare. Would you marry it? Or do you have any purely physical, more intimate contact that exceeds ethics?”

”Does eating it count?” The Fat Wizard responded with a darkened face, no longer maintaining any semblance of his once-questionable demeanor, and ill-temperedly replied: ”I simply like eating meat!”

”Ha, ha, ha, just joking.”

The examiner gave a couple of humorless ’ha ha’s, not raising an eyelid: ”During hunting, you should have more humor, which can greatly alleviate your anxiety.”

”That’s because you don’t have giant blood,” the Fat Wizard, shedding his cautiousness, restored his customary sharp tongue: ”Giants find me extremely funny; as soon as I stand in front of them, they’ll laugh so hard they can’t straighten up.”

This time, the corners of the examiner’s mouth finally lifted slightly: ”Very good, this is the attitude... It’s done, young man, verify the information, sign your name here, and then you can try facing the wizard’s ninety-nine ways to die.”

As Xin Fat Man signed his name.

Zheng Qing tugged at Xiao Xiao’s robe, whispering: ”They don’t seem very friendly towards student hunting teams?”

”If I were them, I wouldn’t be happy either.”

The short-statured warlock stared at the crystal ball in his arms, his voice so weak it was almost mosquito-like: ”Assigning such important tasks to a group of students who haven’t graduated yet is not only irresponsible to the job but also to the students... In the eyes of the Trident Swords, student hunting teams are greenhouse pet dogs, only after experiencing it in school for a few years will the hunting team be wild wolves of the wilderness...”

”Do you think the Trident Sword people are a bit neurotic?”

A cold voice suddenly sounded in the ears of the two young wizards, startling Zheng Qing and almost causing him to draw his charm gun. He turned around and realized it was the tall, thin warlock from the File Management Office.

Smilingly, he raised the teacup in his hand to the young cost student and self-explained: ”That’s due to excessive work pressure, everyone’s anxious, so they’ve long forgotten the normal ways of interpersonal communication... In these offices, Fox Charming Powder is more popular than Energy Potion, of course, in private... You have to become a bit abnormal to deal with the abnormal things in this world. Do you think you’re normal?”

Zheng Qing thought that if he answered this question normally, he’d be a bit abnormal.

So, he courteously shifted to a topic he could understand better: ”Have there been any student hunting teams that took on tasks of hunting black wizards before?”

Perhaps due to the large leap between topics, Lewis paused, then slowly replied: ”Of course, of course, what’s not happened here? But I’ve never seen it... though I’ve heard about it, apparently the First University hunting team handled a similar task some ten years ago. Any issues?”

”Zheng Qing! Zheng Qing, student?”

The voice of the examiner came from behind the desk, interrupting this little exchange.

”It’s me, I’m here.” The young cost student quickly turned and walked towards the examiner, the Fat Wizard passed him, discreetly gesturing an OK sign - this indicated that the Trident Sword’s examination was not difficult.

Behind him, the tall thin wizard from the File Management Office took a small sip of the cold tea in his cup, a thoughtful expression on his face: ”Zheng Qing? Zheng... Qing? Why does this name sound familiar?”

”Zheng Qing, male, nineteen years old, birthday... confidential?”

The examiner slightly frowned, the feather pen in his hand paused slightly.

Zheng Qing hurriedly spoke, trying to answer this not-so-difficult question: ”My birthday is...”

”Shut up!”

The examiner waved his arms, loudly and harshly interrupting the enthusiastic young wizard: ”If a document marks something as confidential, you’d better lock the related information in your brain and not speak easily! It’s beneficial for everyone!”

A few drops of ink flew to the ceiling as he waved his arms, Zheng Qing cautiously took a small step back to avoid those ink drops falling on his clean and upright robe.

Meanwhile, he noticed thick black strips on the examiner’s file in front, concealing a lot of information belonging to him.
