High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1032: Chapter 94 Fierce on the Outside but Timid on the Inside

In the past half a year, First University has been quite lively.

Spies from the big sea monster, councillors from the Moon Council, claws from the Dark Council, the missing principal, the mysterious Black Prison incident, the consecutive upsets in the school hunting competitions, the debates between Lei Zhe and Augustus, the premature return of the silent high tide on Buji Island, as well as the ensuing chaos within the school due to the Sand Time Worms and the mouse plague.

All these tumultuous events had persisted from September 2008 until February 2009, and foreseeably, there was no immediate end in sight.

The school’s management—including the joint meeting of professors and the School Works Committee—were deeply troubled by this. However, due to the harvest of Xuanhuang Wood, many of the school’s forces were restrained and unable to fully deal with these troubles.

Thus, while sending a notice to the Underground Rat Clan to deal with the ”Five Poisons Breeding,” the school took the opportunity to admonish the Rat Immortal, hoping to make it behave. At the very least, to prevent this rat from carelessly bringing certain dark claws into the school from outside the island.

But because the messenger was subordinated to Vice Principal Shi Hui, there was a slight deviation in the effectiveness of the message—a principal with a bias against ”Non-human Wizards,” Lady Shi Hui deeply influenced those around her. This attitude was evident when the representative of First University, while communicating with the Rat Immortal, always had his nostrils pointed upwards, and his tone, as if addressing a robot or commoner, was a bit impolite.

”Consensus?”

Upon hearing the representative’s choice of words, the Rat Immortal’s wrinkled pudgy face squeezed out more folds, along with a hint of a mocking smile, ”If by consensus you mean the school wants me to stay within a mere stone’s throw of ruins, then indeed, we have a consensus.”

The Mr. Representative remained unmoved, ”...Your recent actions have severely undermined this consensus, and if not restrained, it will cause irreparable damage to the relationship between the school and the Mouse Clan. This would be very detrimental to the future development of your clan.”

”To hell with ’consensus’!” the Rat Immortal leaned forward with force, his small eyes emitting a frightening glow, and he shrieked fiercely, ”Do not mention ’consensus’ in front of me! It’s but shackles imposed upon me by that Nameless old man! A unilateral enforcement!”

The representative of First University finally fell silent, gazing pensively at the Rat Immortal.

After a long pause, he finally spoke softly, ”If the species you created reached the level of vampires, werewolves, or the Fox race, no one would confine you to this land. Unfortunately, you have only created a bunch of clothed mice with short statures.”

The Rat Immortal’s complexion halted, and the rage that once filled him deflated like a punctured balloon.

”That will do,” it waved its paw dismissively, wrinkling its whiskers in disgust, ”I don’t know what you are doing, nor am I interested in finding out. If you take issue with me chatting with old friends, then I will restrain the younglings below.”

”I’ve been here for a long time, and I don’t mind staying longer. My only condition is that I do not want to see the nauseating faces of you wizards on my turf again.”

”This, First University,” the school representative extended his index finger, pointing first at the sky and then at the ground, his voice sounding very pleased, ”is on the school’s turf, above and below.”

The Rat Immortal waved its paw, pointing towards the outside, signaling the visitor could leave.

The visitor did not rush to leave, but added, ”If you cannot control your test subjects, you may apply to the relevant school departments, and we will provide you with a satisfactory response within three working days.”

”They are not test subjects! They are my subordinates! My clan! My children!” the rage in the Rat Immortal resurfaced, ”They are not demons! Just creatures that have undergone a bit of high-level magic transformation! I don’t know what you’re implying, but I know that if your thoughts grossly violate the consensus between me and the school!!”

The lips of the First University representative curled slightly, the smile on his face carrying an indefinable meaning.

The Rat Immortal seemed to finally realize what he had just said, and with a dejected gesture, he lowered his hand and forcefully patted the armrest of his seat. Several robust Big Mice panted as they chanted slogans and carried the carved padauk chair, retreating into the depths of the room.

As it was about to vanish around the corner, the Rat Immortal’s shrill voice once again floated through this dark hall:

”Haven’t you heard the phrase ’as timid as a mouse’? It is the tiger that dares to walk boldly, not the mice! Scampering around is the nature of these little rodents!”

...

...

On the last day of the first week of school, besides the whispers under the cover of night, there was another event that was very eye-catching.

It occurred around ten o’clock at night, when the moon was high in the sky.

A huge, pale yellow disc appeared on the other side of the sky, looking like a giant eyeball, shining in tandem with the bright moon, quite a rare sight.

At that time, the Absolution Hunting Team’s young wizards were holding a temporary meeting on the dry grassland below Dormitory Hill. The moment this ’disc’ appeared, Zheng Qing felt as if something had gripped his heart, suddenly unable to catch his breath. However, the other members of the Hunting Team did not feel the same.

They all just looked up at the ’disc,’ and no one noticed Zheng Qing’s abnormality.

Reflected faintly on the ’disc’ was a squatting creature with a big belly, somewhat resembling a toad shape, with its mouth wide open, spreading chaotic, noisy thoughts all over the land:

”SA... TUO... GU... YA...”

Zheng Qing’s face turned ashen.

He didn’t need Doctor Xiao to introduce it to him; he had already clearly discerned the identity of that ’disc’ and the reflection within it.

That was the shape of Satoguya, who was exiled and sealed in the Deeps of Starry Sky. And that ’disc’ was very likely the eye of Satoguya.

Zheng Qing had reason to believe that the ’eyeball’ was projected onto the sky because of its murdered offspring. He did not doubt for a second that he, as the direct murderer, would be caught and stared to death by that giant eyeball.

However, before his pessimistic realization could completely spread through his heart, before the ’giant eyeball’ in the sky could blink, a streak of pure cyan light sliced through the night and shattered the ’disc.’

Along with that light, a domineering thought was also transmitted:

”You pervert who wallows in the mud, where are you looking with that big eyeball?!”

From the moment Satoguya’s eye appeared in the sky until it burst from the streak of light, the entire episode lasted scarcely thirty seconds.
