High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1010: Chapter 72: Valentine’s Day

Considering Su Daxu’s warning, Zheng Qing had maintained a disciplined routine during the remaining days of the winter vacation.

He attended morning classes at the Qingqiu Club, then went straight to school through the Pedestrian Street porch system and to the library to do homework. In the afternoon, he returned directly to the Qingqiu Club from the library. His interactions with friends were mostly restricted to whispers in the library or communicating via Paper Crane, abstaining from any new hunting activities.

Of course, during this time, he always carried Poseidon with him.

Over the winter break, Poseidon had stayed at the Qingqiu Club, where, due to his special status, the nannies and maids spoiled him with a variety of snacks and delicacies. In less than a month, he had gained a full five kilograms, so much so that when Zheng Qing first saw him after the holidays, he almost mistook him for a little white pig.

Naturally, he could not always treat him like a pig. Being the little fox of the Number One Beauty in the wizard world, having Poseidon’s fur split due to weight would be a sin, let alone getting fat like a pig!

Even if it was a cute, pretty little pig, it would not do!

Thus, after returning from the winter break, aside from doing homework, Zheng Qing’s most important daily activity was helping the little fox exercise. Even while conducting surveys for Xin Fat Man in the North District or crafting magic circles for Sister Korma at Gini Cottage, he never neglected this task.

With Su Shi’s supervision and Zheng Qing’s urging, the latter half of Poseidon’s winter break was quite challenging.

But this effort was not wasted.

On the penultimate day of the winter holiday, when Zheng Qing moved back from Greenhill Mansion to the Youyou Academy Back Garden dormitory, the little fox had essentially returned to his pre-holiday physique. This made one marvel at the power of genetics; having Su Shi’s genes seemed to make controlling his physique not so difficult.

The penultimate day of the winter holiday was a Saturday, and also February 14th.

This was one of the favorite days of the year for young male and female wizards at First University. Because this day had another name—Valentine’s Day.

Although there were still two days until school started, most of the students were already gradually registering. After all, there are vacations every week, but Valentine’s Day is not so frequent.

These young wizards needed to seize every opportunity to please their beloved, striving to add more color to their lives and enrich their youthful memories.

Compared to commoners, wizards had a bit more flair on Valentine’s Day.

After all, they were all wizards, all capable of magic.

For example, warlocks could pull a bunch of fresh roses from under their hats, robes, or even backpacks and pockets anytime and present them to witches. Each flower was fresh and even dewy—some extravagant wizards would even hide a singing sprite within the bud, which would start to sing a melodious tune when presented.

Moreover, student unions and related societies would hire many Water Elves or Flower Sprites on this day to run around the campus. Upon seeing pairs of male and female wizards, they would rush over to scatter a bunch of petals over them to enhance the atmosphere. It was a good opportunity to win over the young wizards, and no student organization would miss it.

Then there were the delicious cakes and fruit salads openly provided in the cafeteria, and the Valentine’s evening parties, among other must-not-miss events.

The only thing to be wary of on this day was that, regardless of gender, wizards needed to be extra cautious about food, drinks, or any item with a strange scent handed to them by the opposite sex—like perfume sachets or handkerchiefs.

Because these items might very well contain Love Potion or a similar magical effect.

In the eyes of most wizards, this day was filled with fantasy and charm. If a wizard hoped to achieve their little wish through the effects of magic potions or magic, and their methods went unnoticed by the other party, then this was considered a romantic encounter.

If on an ordinary day, administering potions to other wizards so casually would be illegal.

Of course, for Zheng Qing, there absolutely wasn’t any danger in that regard.

Because on the entire day of February 14th, the young scholarship student had stayed honestly in his dorm room without going out. Naturally, there was no risk of being drugged by someone.

Xin Fat Man, however, was wholeheartedly hoping that some witch would drug him, but according to Doctor Xiao’s conjecture, this possibility was very low, very low.

”Those young girls are just a bit blinded by love, not actually blind!” the Doctor said sharply when commenting on Fat Man’s wish, ”How could they not tell the difference between a wild boar and you?”

If it had been any ordinary day, hearing such a comment from Xiao Xiao would often make Zheng Qing laugh out loud in support, joining the Doctor in teasing Xin Fat Man.

But today, Zheng Qing didn’t laugh.

In fact, his mind wasn’t in the dorm at all, so naturally he didn’t hear the ’interesting’ conversation beside him.

Right now, Zheng Qing was lying on his bed, hands held high, with a carefree sprite in his palms, fluttering its wings and crawling through his fingers delightfully.

The young scholarship student was carefully observing every single one of their movements and every subtle expression on their faces.

He couldn’t see any ’rule-breaking power’ on them or anything that ’tainted’ them with such a power. Just like when he looked in the mirror, he couldn’t see anything unusual about himself either.

But the words that Su Shijun had left unfinished in the Greenhill Mansion, those words were like a nail, firmly lodged at the deepest part of his heart.

During this time, whenever he calmed his mind, he would involuntarily chew on those words, trying to extract some clue or find some inconsistency in her statements.

But sadly, the witch’s words seemed to be the only possible explanation.

Xiao Xiao and Xin Fat Man exchanged a worried look.

As companions, it was easy for them to notice that something was off with the young scholarship student. But since Zheng Qing didn’t speak up, they felt it wasn’t appropriate to ask directly.

After a pause, encouraged by Xiao Xiao’s gaze, Xin Fat Man decided to ask outright.

”Did you break up with Elena?” Fat Man’s questions were always so direct.

Xiao Xiao immediately turned his head away, pretending not to know Fat Man, though his ears pricked up, catching every word from Zheng Qing’s bed.

Although Zheng Qing was lying distractedly on his bed, it didn’t mean he wasn’t all ears.

The name Elena easily grabbed his attention.

Then he thought for a few seconds, grasping the essence of Fat Man’s question.

”Are you itching for a beating?” the young scholarship student responded with a slightly unfriendly tone, ”Asking such a question today, are you planning on spending a few days in the hospital?”

Xin Fat Man, with drooping eyelids, muttered, ”But I see that you didn’t plan to go on a date with Elena, nor did you plan to give her any gifts... Did you give her a holiday present?”
