High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1020: Chapter 82 In Front of the Library

Watching the Little Spiritual Wizard about to explode on the spot, Zheng Qing, who had experienced similar situations, turned pale, and his fingers subconsciously reached into the grey cloth bag at his waist, intending to do something.

Fortunately, Jiang Yu was right next to him.

Just as Li Meng’s hair began to float behind her head, it was slapped back down by Jiang Da Headmaster, scaring it into instantly falling back into place.

”What are you doing? Want to start a revolt? Get on with your work!” Jiang Yu scolded the Little Witch, then raised her head and squinted at Xin Fat Man and Zhang Ji Xin, her face revealing a hint of danger, ”You two good-for-nothings, if you don’t disappear from my sight within ten seconds, I’ll chop you up and toss you into Lin Zhong Lake for the Fishmen to make dumplings!”

This threat was direct and fierce, very unlike Jiang Yu’s usual demeanor, which frightened the two burly boys to the point of being frozen in place.

Li Meng turned around with a grieved expression, glanced at her cousin, and seeing Jiang Yu’s stern gaze, she ultimately pursed her lips, took out a new feather pen, and started copying the papers.

Zheng Qing’s mouth hung open slightly, looking dumbfounded at Jiang Da Headmaster, seemingly frightened by her words.

Jiang Yu’s gaze swept fiercely over Xin Fat Man and Zhang Ji Xin, and when her eyes finally brushed past Zheng Qing, her expression briefly stiffened, then she quickly lowered her head and began to urge Li Meng to copy the papers.

Her gaze also reminded Zheng Qing.

Zheng Qing also immediately ducked his head and, with one hand pulling the Fat Man and the other towards the Elders, began dragging the two still bewildered companions out of the classroom. As they moved, he muttered under his breath, ”Have you two gone mad? You haven’t been drinking, so what hooliganism is this... Hurry, hurry, if we’re late we won’t be able to get away.”

Doctor Xiao, with his head tilted back and his face covered by that thick open notebook, followed behind them three, not speaking a word, yet not falling behind––a very wise choice.

Only when they left the teaching building and stepped out of the big building’s shadow did the warlocks collectively breathe a sigh of relief.

”Scary as hell!” Xin Fat Man, still recovering from the shock, stamped his feet and took out a small pack of dried nuts from his watch, crunching them noisily, ”When Jiang Da Headmaster was uttering those threats, I almost thought she was possessed by Professor Emma!”

Professor Emma is everyone’s Magic Script Class professor, known for her strictness and aloofness.

Disagreeing with the Fat Man’s analogy, Zhang Ji Xin shook his head.

”Even Professor Emma wouldn’t chop people up into dumpling filling so casually.” The legitimate son of the Zhang family touched his shortly-cropped scalp and shivered slightly as he glanced back at the teaching building with an odd tone, ”It’s like she’s been triggered by something...”

”Triggered?” Xin Fat Man pinched his chin, slowed his pace, and his expression became thoughtful, ”Speaking of which, have you guys noticed that the way Jiang Da Headmaster looks at Brother Qing is very off?”

Zheng Qing, originally hoping to enjoy watching the two argue, didn’t expect Fat Man to suddenly drag him into the mess, and his heart suddenly tightened, becoming anxious.

”Heh, do you think you haven’t taunted enough people today to satisfy yourself?” The young scholarship student scoffed coldly with an indifferent tone, ”Or maybe, you simply fancy a beating.”

As he spoke, Zheng Qing had already pulled out his Colt Silver Python from the grey cloth bag, click, click, click, rotating the cylinder loaded with six Fu Bullets. The silver-white barrel reflected a pale light in the grayish sunlight, sending shivers down Xin Fat Man’s spine.

”No, no, no, it’s not what you’re thinking.” Xin Fat Man waved his hands frantically, hurriedly explaining, ”Normally, there’d be some joking involved, given how often you two sneak out for meetings and stuff...”

”Click!” Zheng Qing disengaged the safety of the Colt Silver Python, his tone very serious, ”That’s not a meeting... Given that it’s broad daylight, I’ll give you one chance to rephrase your words.”

Xin Fat Man theatrically slapped himself on the mouth, quickly correcting with a smile, ”I meant that you two are often seen studying together.”

Zheng Qing took a deep breath and decided not to stoop to the fat man’s level.

Xin Fat Man also didn’t linger on the matter of word choice, but instead continued analyzing the previous topic, ”But these past few days, the both of you have been acting off... It feels like you’re avoiding each other. Especially just now, that feeling was very obvious.”

”Trust me, this feeling comes from the intuition of a genius journalist. It can’t be wrong.”

A muscle in the corner of Zheng Qing’s eye twitched slightly.

This damned fat man, his powers of observation were incredibly keen.

As he racked his brain considering how to correct the fat man’s accurate intuition, the group had unknowingly reached the Lakeside of Bell Lake. They hadn’t walked far along the blue stone slab path by the lake’s shore before they saw a large group of students gathered in the small plaza in front of the library.

One of the tall, skinny wizards had already climbed up on a large stone at the edge of the plaza and was standing on it, waving his arms and speaking loudly to the bustling crowd in front of him.

Zheng Qing’s eyes lit up, and he immediately pointed to the wizards, ”What are they doing? A meeting?”

The other members of the Absolution Hunting Team also noticed the commotion in the small plaza, and the fat man almost instantly forgot about the issue he had just analyzed. In the blink of an eye, he pulled out his notepad and feather pen and dashed toward the crowd.

As he ran, he didn’t forget to call back to his companions, ”I’m going to get the scoop; you guys bring back a portion of lunch for me after you’re done eating... And remember to seal it with talisman paper, don’t let Tuan Tuan spoil my meal!”

Zheng Qing stared, dumbfounded, as he watched the fat man’s receding figure.

He hadn’t anticipated that this sudden excuse would work so brilliantly. It even made him a bit interested in the meeting going on in the small plaza.

He took out his pocket watch to check the time.

Twelve ten in the afternoon.

”Hmm, it’s the busiest time in the cafeteria right now. Why don’t we join in the fun over there?” he suggested to his remaining two companions with a tone implying negotiation, ”Anyway, we have nothing else to do if we go back...”

Zhang Ji Xin was also interested in joining the crowd and didn’t object.

Xiao Xiao, however, hesitated for a few seconds.

”I always feel like it’s not going to be anything good.” The doctor adjusted his glasses, his tone hesitant, ”Such gatherings look dangerous... A gentleman does not stand beneath a dangerous wall.”

”What’s the danger,” Zheng Qing grabbed him and headed toward the crowd, ”besides, we’re not gentlemen; standing under a wall for a while won’t hurt... In case someone there mentions something interesting, you can also enrich your notes.”

Upon hearing Zheng Qing’s last remark, Xiao Xiao finally stopped resisting and followed his companions to the small plaza.

From a distance, carried by the breeze, came the intermittent voice of the skinny tall wizard:

”We must confront this distinction... This is actual discrimination!”
