High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1006: Chapter 68: Su Ya’s Follow-up

If Zheng Qing knew what Lin Guo had said, he would definitely, with teary eyes, firmly reject his guess.

He hadn’t done anything wrong, so why did he feel guilty? Moreover, even if he did feel guilty, why would he beat a hasty retreat and withdraw prematurely?

It made absolutely no sense.

Actually, the young government-funded student had been ”kidnapped.”

Just a minute earlier, he had been excitedly watching, along with the other hunters in the hunting team, as a hunter from an unfortunate team got tossed around by a furious Poisonous Horn Beast, ending up dirty and disheveled.

In the blink of an eye, he felt something fiercely hook behind his navel, then his feet left the ground, and he experienced a whirl of disorientation. When he regained his senses, he was standing in a spacious, very familiar living room.

...

”Tea or coffee?” Su Ya asked seriously, holding a large tea tray next to him.

”Tea?” Zheng Qing hadn’t fully recovered from the recent spatial teleportation, feeling a bit dizzy, and couldn’t help but vigorously shake his head.

”Flower tea, green tea, or black tea? Would you like some milk or sugar with it?” Su Ya continued to inquire.

Zheng Qing finally felt his soul slowly settle back into his body, and his mind became much clearer.

”How am I here?” he murmured, looking down at the little fox lady, his eyebrows raised high — but his confusion disappeared as quickly as it came.

This was Greenhill Mansion, Miss Su’s villa on Buji Island.

And Miss Su had just thrown a stack of spells above a crowd of magical creatures’ heads and had glanced at him.

Why he was here was obvious.

The question was, why did she drag him here? And in such a sudden way?!

These questions naturally needed to be asked of Shi Jun, who had dragged him back to the mansion—assuming Su Daxu was willing to answer his questions.

Thinking this, the young government-funded student immediately took a few deep breaths, put on a faint smile, and looked at Su Ya, the little maid, changing the question: ”How are you here?”

This question made the little fox lady widen her eyes.

”This is Greenhill Mansion, where else would I be?” Since there was no one else in the room, her tone was very relaxed, and she even dared to admonish Zheng Qing in a low voice: ”Besides, I’m in charge of this living room now!... On my own! Understand? It means I handle everything in this big room by myself!”

As she spoke, she made an effort to puff out her flat chest, even going on her toes slightly.

Zheng Qing immediately bit his tongue, swallowing back his doubts— he was on the verge of asking if Su Man, the head housemaid, had been affected by a confusion spell because who would let this little girl manage the living room?

”Taking charge alone is good, taking charge alone is good,” the young government-funded student muttered in vague praise, struggled for a while, and ultimately unable to think of other flattering words, grudgingly changed the subject: ”Where is Sister Su? Did she bring me here? Does she need me for something? Should I wait here for her?”

Su Ya impatiently raised her little fist, thumping the large tea tray she held in her arms.

Dong Dong.

”You call her Sister too? Call her Councilor Su!” She first criticized the warlock’s incorrect address, then repeated the question from a few minutes ago: ”I just asked you what tea you wanted. Answer me first!... Miss said you should wait here for a while. She’ll come to find you after she deals with the trouble outside.”

Zheng Qing did not continue to inquire about the trouble Shi Jun was dealing with.

Seeing Su Ya’s displeased expression, he thought it better to stick to her topic—lest she add something extra to the tea she was making for him. After all, he would be the one to suffer.

”The usual, green tea,” Zheng Qing ultimately chose the tea he drank most often at Greenhill Mansion, then added a line, ”If there’s none, plain water is fine.”

”Tsk, who’s following the usual with you,” Su Ya rolled her eyes and muttered, yet didn’t reject Zheng Qing’s request. Instead, she hugged the large tea tray and trotted off to the tea room in an orderly manner.

Regaining his composure, Zheng Qing looked around.

The drawing room was very quiet, devoid of idle folks waiting around. The mahogany furniture, including the tables and chairs, shone brilliantly just as Zheng Qing remembered, making it hard to believe that Su Ya was responsible for this room.

On the table, an array of fruit snacks dazzled the eyes, but the young cost student had no appetite whatsoever. He merely glanced at them before turning his gaze to the window.

Outside the window, birds sang and flowers fragranced the warm, gentle breeze, in stark contrast to the biting cold wind and barren world outside the mansion, involuntarily bringing to mind Du Gongbu’s verse, ”The stench of meat and wine abounds, while bones of the frozen dead litter the ground.”

Admittedly, the meat and wine in Greenhill Mansion hadn’t gone rancid, and Zheng Qing hadn’t seen any corpses of the frozen and starved in Beta Town, but this did nothing to lessen his intense discomfort—a few minutes ago, he had been on a battlefield roaring with fierce beasts and swirling with magic, bathed in a baptism of blood and fire; and now, here he was, in one of the safest houses in Beta Town, enjoying a warm and comfortable afternoon tea.

The young cost student scratched the back of his hand feeling utterly out of place in this room.

Su Ya quickly returned to the living room with the tea tray.

”Early spring Longjing tea, brewed with dew from the mansion’s garden flowers,” the Little Fox Lady placed the tea cup in front of the man, her eyes eagerly watching him.

This left Zheng Qing somewhat baffled.

Unable to bear the intense stare, he finally picked up the tea cup and took a small sip.

His eyes then lit up, the tea was clear, its taste sweet and palatable, entering his mouth soft and fragrant. Just one sip seemed to cleanse him thoroughly through and through.

”Good, very good,” he genuinely praised, ”The tea you brewed today tastes better than the one I usually drink!”

This compliment made the Little Fox Lady smile with squinting eyes.

”Of course,” she said, hands on her hips and beaming proudly, ”To brew this small cup of tea, I used almost a jin of early spring Longjing and nearly ten jins of flower dew to practice! How could it not taste good?”

”Cough, cough, cough,” Zheng Qing choked on the tea in his mouth, coughing violently, which took him by a painful surprise. It wasn’t his first time at Greenhill Mansion, and although he wasn’t very concerned with the affairs of the mansion, he knew quite a few details.

For instance, last time he was here, the head housemaid Su Man complained to him that the stock of early spring Longjing at the mansion was depleting too rapidly, remaining just over a jin, and this year’s new tea was not yet available, so they had to use it sparingly, et cetera.

Thinking of this, the young cost student suppressed his cough and cautiously asked, ”Su Ya, do you really think it’s okay to waste so much tea and flower dew? Does Sister Su Man know about this?”

”Of course she doesn’t!” Su Ya looked at him righteously, ”But I’ve taken care of everything!”

Listen to that wording!

’Taken care of everything’?!

Zheng Qing had an ominous feeling.

”Cough, how exactly did you handle it?” he asked, feigning nonchalance.

”It’s simple,” Su Ya looked at him as if he was a fool, ”I just said it was you who drank it... I practiced so many times, and the first successful batch I brewed was for you to drink.”

Flawless logic, no complaints!

Zheng Qing’s face turned green.
