Chapter 1012: Chapter 74 Incoming Letter

The most satisfying thing in life isn’t waking up naturally from sleep, but waking up on a weekend morning, taking a leak, and then rolling back into the warm bed, your groggy mind reassuring you there’s plenty of time left, and you can sleep as long as you want.

Similarly, the most excruciating thing isn’t when someone discusses an awkward subject with you, but when the awkward subject, having been brought up, lingers and repeats in your mind, refusing to leave for a long time.

Just like a few days ago, when Su Shijun casually mentioned Jiang Yu before leaving.

Zheng Qing had reason to suspect that the lady from the Moon Council, the Upper House Member, was looking for an opportunity to annoy him, but he had no evidence and didn’t dare to confront her about it.

What else could he do? Life had to go on, even if it meant holding his nose and getting through it.

Right now, with Xin Fat Man bringing up the issue again, Zheng Qing wanted to stuff his head into a toilet and flush it a few times. To divert the topic away from Jiang Yu, Zheng Qing had no choice but to take out the Talisman Scroll he had just thought of and show it to his roommates.

”What do you think of this as a gift?” he said, waving the scroll so it rustled, ”A set of scrolls with simple annotations... just draw a talisman foot, charge it with spirit, and it can be used as a proper Basic Rune.”

As expected, Xin Fat Man’s attention shifted away from the scroll.

He scooted over to Zheng Qing, took the Talisman Scroll, and then started discussing it with Doctor Xiao. This allowed Zheng Qing to heave a huge sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, Dylan knocked on the lid of his coffin.

”Captain, let me have a look at the face mask you bought.” Mr. Blood Werewolf said, touching his pale skin, ”I’ve been lacking sleep recently and it feels a bit rough.”

A chill ran down Zheng Qing’s spine as he tossed the small jar of face mask over to him.

Dylan didn’t move to catch it, but a dark red aura emanated from beneath his coffin and curled around the jar, pulling it back in. Zheng Qing made a mental note to retrieve it later and give it a good wipe down.

”Compared to face masks, the Ginger Red Tube would make a better gift,” Dylan said, flipping through the instructions on the jar, ”Nowadays, our side is all about the Ginger SW series... Elena is Gypsy, so Ginger would be just right. If she doesn’t like the red tube, the black or blue ones are also nice. No witch can resist a full set of Ginger.”

Ginger is a very popular luxury brand in the Modern Wizard World, their product range includes Wizard’s Robes, Hunting Clothes, timers, cosmetics, and even Flying Carpets and Flying Brooms.

To put it in perspective, the status of Ginger in the Wizard World could be roughly equated to the combined likes of Armani, Rolex, and Rolls-Royce in Zheng Qing’s old world.

And the Ginger Red Tube is a lipstick whose tube is red in color. The SW series recommended by Dylan stands for ’Scarlet Witch’ and is quite popular among young witches.

More importantly, Ginger is a brand created by Gypsy wizards, which surely holds a special significance for Elena.

Upon hearing Dylan’s recommendation, Zheng Qing felt a bit disheartened.

”I’m not rich enough to buy a whole set of Ginger,” the young cost student muttered, swallowing the more blunt words ”I have no money.”

While he was at Linjinghua buying face masks, he noticed the rows of Ginger sets displayed behind the counter. Different shades and models, lined up neatly, they looked very stylish.

Then he checked the prices—a full set of the Ginger SW series, 99 pieces, was priced at nine jade coins, nine golden beans, and nine silver corners, with the hottest-selling SW400 priced at one gold bean and three silver corners.

This made the warlock dismiss the thought early on.

”Buying just one doesn’t seem sincere, and I think she must have already bought the popular shades herself,” Zheng Qing’s reason for not buying was also sufficient, ”Buying a whole set is out of my budget. After calculating back and forth, it was still best to buy that jar of face mask—it’s not expensive, but not cheap either, just right.”

Dylan shook his head and didn’t say anything, instead he gestured for the sprites to take Zheng Qing’s jar back.

”Since you’re planning to give away the Talisman Scroll now, what are you going to do with the cosmetics you bought?” The fat man, who was studying the talisman with Xiao Xiao, suddenly looked up and asked a sharp question, ”You can’t use that jar of stuff either, isn’t that a waste?”

Caught off guard by the question, Zheng Qing momentarily froze.

Before he could come up with an answer, Xin Fat Man offered his own solution, ”If you ask me, you might as well give that jar of facial mask as a gift. After all, it shows your good intentions, and Elena won’t mind... As for this Talisman Scroll, how about I stick some gold beans on it and sell it to you?”

Zheng Qing weighed the jar of facial mask in his hands, estimating the size of the dent it would make if he threw it at the fat man’s face.

After weighing it for a moment, a solution of his own suddenly popped into his head.

”What do you guys think if I give this jar to Su Ya or Li Meng?” he tentatively asked his roommates, ”Giving it to either of them shouldn’t lead to any misunderstandings, right?”

Xiao Xiao and the others exchanged looks and unanimously voiced their judgment with one word, ”Pervert!”

Zheng Qing rolled his eyes and went back to teasing the sprites hanging around the canopy.

Just then, a pitter-patter noise came from outside the window, as if a string of leaves were hitting the glass. Lying lazily on the bed, Zheng Qing didn’t move an inch, Dylan hid in his coffin pretending he hadn’t heard, and Doctor Xiao was earnestly browsing through Zheng Qing’s Talisman Scroll.

Only Xin Fat Man, who had no patience to look through the Talisman Scroll page by page and was closest to the balcony window, moved.

”A bunch of Lazy Bugs.”

Muttering, the fat man squeezed through the narrow door between the balcony and the dormitory and opened the window.

The cold wind from outside immediately whooshed into the dormitory, causing the young student on government expense to shiver.

”Close the window!” Zheng Qing shouted without lifting his head, chastising Xin Fat Man, ”Not everyone is like you, wearing a natural bear fur coat!”

”That’s not a bear fur coat, at best it’s an oily fur coat,” Dylan, sitting in his coffin, corrected seriously.

”Bang!”

Xin Fat Man forcefully closed the window and huffed back into the dormitory.

”Say that again?!” His eyes wide open, he bared his teeth at Zheng Qing, waving a small green Paper Crane in his hand, ”I didn’t quite catch that before, say it again?”

Zheng Qing glanced over and immediately rolled off the bed.

The sprites that were playing with him got startled and flew haphazardly, fluttering their wings mid-air, squealing in high-pitched voices in complaint.

”Sorry, sorry.” The young student on government expense clasped his hands together, first to the sprites, and then vaguely toward the fat man, but mostly to the sprites.

Without a doubt, the fat man could only be this domineering if he held leverage. A simple guess indicated that the Paper Crane had come for him.
