Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

Dimension travel was already familiar to Jaden. Kira had taken him through so many missions that the spirit world now felt like home—nothing to fear.

After the Supreme King’s fall and the main other-dimension storyline completed, Kira got busy with other things, and had less time to quest together. But Jaden had fallen in love with this endlessly open dueling adventure, and would still log in now and then to duel others.

For Yubel, though, this was all new. Back in the dorm, she watched Jaden activate his Duel Disk and log into the Link System. Deep-blue ripples spread rapidly, swallowing the surroundings. Jaden was whisked away to the edge of the dimension—to the starting point of the Link System, a virtual duel city.

Seeing this for the first time, Yubel was shocked.

She was well-versed in dimensional skills—she’d once transported the entire Duel Academy to another dimension. But precisely because she understood it, she was even more shocked. Dimensional travel was not something just anyone could do. Yet now, human technology had advanced to this level—their prowess was not to be underestimated, even by a powerful spirit like her.

”Jaden, this Duel Disk’s technology—” Yubel couldn’t help but ask, ”I’ve never seen others with this model?”

Jaden waved his Duel Disk. ”Oh, this? Kira got it for me. It’s a special edition by KaibaCorp.”

”KaibaCorp...”

Yubel frowned.

Even though she was free of evil influences now, the name still filled her with distaste. Even if her exile was deserved, it was KaibaCorp that shot her into space, causing ten years of suffering.

Still, now that she’d returned to normal and reunited with Jaden, nothing else mattered. She had no desire for revenge. But hearing that name, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of resentment.

”KaibaCorp is something else,” Jaden said, grinning. ”You haven’t heard of President Seto Kaiba’s feats. Their tech is said to be godlike.

People say, years ago, Kaiba himself designed a dimensional shuttle to the Underworld, found the Pharaoh from 3,000 years ago, and challenged him to a duel...”

Yubel was even more shocked.

”The Underworld? Dueling the dead!?”

Yubel was stunned.

If she had previously thought human technology was impressive, now it had far surpassed even her own abilities.

This was practically necromancy! What kind of black technology was this?

Even she, Yubel, couldn’t do it.

At this rate, wouldn’t Kaiba Seto soon be able to bring the dead back to life?

How heaven-defying...

Yubel was still reeling. Meanwhile, Jaden was about to lock in on the dimension Yubel mentioned and project himself there to investigate. But when he logged in, he noticed a friend online.

”Huh?”

Jaden was surprised.

”Kira is online? But I thought he was in Egypt?”

…

KaibaCorp, Headquarters.

”Yugi!”

President Seto Kaiba’s voice echoed through the hall.

”I’ve waited so many years—finally, the day has come! Today, everything ends!”

Standing across from him was a man who made even a school uniform look like a cape. That familiar star-shaped hair, colorful locks, and muscular build—who else but the legendary Pharaoh, Atem?

”Come on, Yugi!” Kaiba shouted. ”If you can defeat me, prove it now!”

”This time, I’ll end it for good, Kaiba, with the power of my strongest servant!”

Atem declared.

”I activate the spell card ’Polymerization’! I fuse ’Dark Magician’ on the field with ’Gaia the Fierce Knight’ from my hand!

A knight with the power of dark magic, trampling all enemies underfoot—Dark Cavalry, Fusion Summon!”

Dark Magician and Gaia—both signature monsters of Yugi. Their union summoned a black-armored knight, with a spiral lance and magical armor, his magical steed neighing like thunder.

[Dark Cavalry, ATK 2800]

”So you’ve surpassed yourself again, forging new power, Yugi!” Kaiba shouted. ”But it’s too late! Your knight isn’t a match for my ’Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon’!”

[Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, ATK 3000]

Atem: ”Too naive, Kaiba! My knight’s attack rises by 100 for each spell and trap in both our fields and graveyards!

Now, there are 22 spells and traps in total—so his attack rises by 2200!”

[Dark Cavalry, ATK 2800 → 5000]

Kaiba: ”Five thousand attack!?”

Atem: ”This is where our fates end, Kaiba! Dark Cavalry, attack Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon!”

The knight’s lance thrust forward, hooves thundering like an army. The spiral lance pierced the air.

Kaiba roared: ”I activate my set card, continuous trap ’Shadow Spell’! Target one opposing monster—it loses 700 attack, can’t attack or change position!

Be chained, Dark Cavalry!”

Chains shot from the trap, lashing at the knight and his steed.

Atem: ”Nice try! My knight’s power is beyond such traps! His effect: when any card effect targets him, I can discard a card to negate and destroy it!”

Atem discarded a card.

”Dark Cavalry, negate and destroy Shadow Spell!”

The knight’s steed neighed, and his lance swept aside all the chains.

Kaiba: ”NANI?! Such an ability? Damn you, Yugi...”

On the sidelines, Mokuba was speechless.

What could he say?

His brother was really getting into it—playing against an AI with such immersion. And this Dark Cavalry card was one his brother made himself, yet he acted like he’d never seen it before...
