Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

”Obelisk, God Hand Crusher Shockwave!”

A howling wind, a domineering blue shockwave, swept away even the thick darkness enveloping the whole area.

This was the blow of a God of Destruction—its sheer destructive force surpassed even the Winged Dragon of Ra. Wherever the punch landed, even space itself seemed torn apart, the explosion of strength triggering an unprecedented storm. The air pressure surged like a tide, turning everything in its path to dust.

Even the mighty body of the Wicked God was fragile before this power. At the eye of the storm, the power was visible to the naked eye, surging like a dragon. The Wicked God’s shadowy human form was sucked into the vortex, letting out a series of agonized, guttural roars.

”Ahhhhh—”

The Wicked God’s voice trembled in the wind.

”Obelisk...

Damn you, Obelisk!

Why is it always you?

Why can’t you God Cards just die with the Pharaoh!?”

At this moment, the Wicked God truly felt fear. Not when Kira and the others invaded their territory, not even when he knew the final battle was coming—only now did he feel it.

It reminded him of his last defeat, again at the hands of the God Cards. Under the Pharaoh’s command, they were utterly crushed.

Some said the Wicked Gods possessed evil power even greater than the God Cards. But in truth, who could say for sure?

”Seto Kaiba... damn you, Seto Kaiba,” the Wicked God snarled. ”Was it you? Did you bring this card back into the world?

Is this your so-called ’futurism’? Drowning yourself in the past, chasing things long gone?”

Kaiba sneered.

”An annoying guy once told me: those who can’t face the past have no future. I always found him annoying, but maybe he was right.

Besides—”

Kaiba raised his Duel Disk arm high, proud. The Duel Disk seemed to answer, suddenly bursting with blue divine light. The light gathered behind him, forming the shadow of a blue giant, looming majestically, crimson eyes gazing down on the dissipating shadow of the Wicked God.

”—I’m not chasing it. I am the chosen one!” Kaiba declared. ”No matter what, Obelisk will always return to my hand!”

Obelisk the Tormentor—the God Card Kaiba first obtained in Battle City, and the one most closely linked to him. That’s why, during his duel with Aigami, when he drew from the floor, it wasn’t Slifer or Ra, but Obelisk.

From then on, Kaiba realized that the God Cards went to the underworld with the Pharaoh, but only the cards themselves; the power of the gods still existed.

Given Kaiba’s nature, he would never be satisfied without recreating the God Cards.

But it wasn’t easy. Even with Kaiba’s top-tier card printing tech and his exceptional background as a reincarnated priest, it was extremely difficult.

The creation of the God Cards was partly luck. Back then, Pegasus made them himself, when he still had the Millennium Eye. According to him, he was unable to resist the Gods’ influence and finished them under their mental sway.

In a sense, the creation of the God Cards was the will of the gods themselves. Pegasus’ skill mattered, but he was only the medium for the gods’ arrival in the world.

Kaiba’s task was different. The Gods had returned to the Pharaoh, and although they still answered his summons, they were less eager to return to the world. The recreation depended almost entirely on Kaiba’s skill, and without a Millennium Item, it was even harder than Pegasus’s original attempt.

Fortunately, Kaiba always had the perseverance for this. The more challenging the project, the more his ”black technology” grew, like a Saiyan’s battle power. After years of hard work, he finally completed the God Card’s recreation.

Sadly, there was only one—Obelisk. Perhaps because he never held the other two, or lacked a bond with them, the difficulty was even higher.

But Kaiba was satisfied. In the end, he agreed that Obelisk was his god, the one he used most comfortably. Back then, he held the Battle City tournament just to collect the Three God Cards, thinking that having all three would put him at the top. Now, that desire had faded.

He revived Obelisk simply because he felt a connection to the card—it was part of his own strength. As for the idea that collecting all three God Cards made you invincible, that was long gone.

What if you have all three God Cards? Even the Pharaoh lost to a mere mortal.

The strength lies with the duelist, not the card. No matter how strong a card is, it’s just a tool. If you need the God Cards to win, what’s the point?

Now, the Wicked God’s form had faded, and his cards had fallen to the ground.

Kaiba hesitated for a moment, then walked forward to check. But after searching for a bit, he couldn’t find the most important card:

The Wicked Dreadroot.

Kaiba frowned. At that moment, a voice sounded in the air—weak, but unmistakably that of the Wicked God.

”I... lost. But this isn’t over, Seto Kaiba...

You know nothing of the world’s truth. Your world—all worlds—are on the brink of destruction. The future... belongs to us...”

The shadow vanished completely.

Kaiba stood up, frowning.

All worlds...

What does that mean?

…

Deepest part of the Dark Domain.

A dark light shot across the edge of the domain, attaching to the shadow at its center, absorbed into its body.

In the center, the shadow—The Wicked Avatar—slowly opened his eyes.

”Didn’t expect you’d be the first to fail,”

Dreadroot’s voice sounded. ”I underestimated Seto Kaiba. I thought he was just our defeated lackey, but he’s much harder to deal with now.”

Avatar said, ”That surge just now, that aura... was it our old friend?”

Dreadroot answered bitterly, ”Yes. It was Obelisk. That Seto Kaiba actually summoned Obelisk’s power again.”

Avatar said gravely, ”If Obelisk is back, we must prepare for the worst. The other two could return at any time.”

Dreadroot, a bit worried, said, ”If all three of them come back...”

”No matter,”

Avatar gave a cold laugh.

”There’s nothing left for me to fear now.”
