The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 148: Chapter 148: Solving Trouble with ”Wedding Candy

Expert Wang’s eyes lit up. Although there was related research abroad, she knew that the situation in their country was different from others. There was still a lot of room for study.

This concerned the future of these children, so Expert Wang was even more cautious.

Now that Han Xiaorui and Han Xiaoqing had proactively proposed it, it was an excellent direction to take.

”If you can manage to set up the kindergarten, we can conduct research on this aspect. I can guarantee that in such an environment, your two families’ children will improve even faster.”

Hearing Expert Wang’s words, Han Xiaorui immediately promised, ”I will definitely start the kindergarten. It will open on time on September 1st this year.”

Expert Wang smiled. ”Alright. Let’s work together. The children will get better.”

Leaving the hospital, Han Xiaorui was in high spirits. She went back to start preparing for the kindergarten.

「Meanwhile, in Beijing」

Ye Zheng personally went to the workplace of Yu Yali’s father, Yu Zhennan, at noon.

Yu Zhennan was very surprised by Ye Zheng’s arrival. ”Old Ye, what brings you here? Why didn’t you give me a heads-up?”

Ye Zheng smiled and took a small, red cloth bag from his briefcase. It was filled with wedding candy. In reality, one of his subordinates had gotten married and given it to him specially.

He hadn’t eaten it and had forgotten to take it home.

’I didn’t expect it to come in handy today,’ he thought. ’Old Yu will surely understand my difficult position.’

”That rascal of mine, Ye Feng, has a girlfriend, and he says he won’t marry anyone but her. We’re old classmates and old friends, so of course, I had to share the good news of my son’s engagement with you.”

Yu Zhennan was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing. ”Well, I must properly congratulate you then! Xiao Feng is doing well in Shencheng, so you can rest easy. You know, you should be more patient with the boy from now on.”

Ye Zheng sighed emotionally. ”You’re right. I can’t be impulsive like before, resorting to hitting him at the drop of a hat. I used to worry that kid would be a bachelor forever, but I never thought he’d find someone on his own. As long as he’s happy, I can be at ease.”

Yu Zhennan agreed. ”Being able to find a partner is a skill in itself. Next time Ye Feng is back in Beijing, you must have him call me. He and I should have a few drinks, as uncle and nephew.”

”Of course. You watched him grow up, after all. I couldn’t look after him much during those years, and you helped out a lot.”

Yu Zhennan smiled. ”He’s like my own nephew, how could I not look after him? If something had happened to me, wouldn’t you have looked after my children?”

”I would, of course I would,” Ye Zheng said with a laugh. After chatting for a little longer, he took his leave.

Yu Zhennan personally saw Ye Zheng out. When he returned to his office, he saw the wedding candy on his desk.

A bitter look appeared in his eyes. He called his nephew, Yu Cheng, and told him to bring Yu Lina from Shencheng to Beijing as soon as possible.

’Ye Zheng didn’t directly tell me to keep my niece away from Ye Feng. Instead, he just gave me wedding candy. If I don’t handle my niece, Lina, then Ye Zheng won’t stop Ye Feng from dealing with her. Sigh, I’ll have to find a way to send her abroad to study when she gets back. The younger generation of the Yu Family can’t be dragged down by my good-for-nothing niece.’

That very night, Yu Cheng drugged his cousin and flew back to Beijing with her.

He didn’t want to resort to using drugs, but his cousin was acting like a madwoman and refused to leave.

Yu Cheng was also extremely embarrassed by his cousin’s behavior in Shencheng, so much so that he didn’t even dare to face Ye Feng.

’Thank goodness Second Uncle wants her back in Beijing.’

Ye Feng received a call from Yu Cheng that night and couldn’t help but think to himself, ’My old man is pretty reliable after all.’

’He didn’t mess around with this!’

Back home, Han Xiaorui washed a peach and went to find Granny Cai to discuss a location for the kindergarten.

Granny Cai had already heard about it from her daughter-in-law. When Han Xiaorui arrived, she immediately said, ”Xiao Yu already told me. Let’s set up the kindergarten right here in our village, using my house. To be honest, I’m not comfortable with sending Xiao Jun to school somewhere else.”

”My family has some money. We can hire people to repair and reinforce it, and then add some playground equipment for the kids. With the family planning policy now, it’s one child per family. Even if you count the whole village, there are only about twenty-some kids of kindergarten age. One courtyard is more than enough.”

”I’ll be the cook for free. I can make different meals and snacks for the children every single day.”

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”Granny Cai, with you saying that, I’ll go find Village Chief Liu right now and ask for his support. After all, the children are young. Sending them to the kindergarten at the elementary school is a bit far, not to mention it’s crowded there and the teachers can’t pay attention to every single student.”

Granny Cai laughed heartily. ”You just have to say the word, and I guarantee Village Chief Liu will agree. His granddaughter is four this year and needs to start kindergarten too. You won’t even have to push him; he’ll get it all sorted out for you properly.”

It was just as Granny Cai had said. Village Chief Liu agreed without a moment’s hesitation. ”Alright, I’ll handle this. When I have free time, I can go be the gatekeeper at the kindergarten.”

Han Xiaorui shook her head and chuckled. ”Chief Liu, we wouldn’t dare trouble you with that. We still need you to oversee things here in Jinshan Bay! I’m starting this kindergarten to provide a friendly environment for my two daughters and Wenjun.”

”The children from our village can come to school here. I’ll hire some of the capable women from the village to help look after the kids and clean, and I’ll also pay a high salary to hire professionally trained preschool teachers from the city. I guarantee we can take good care of and properly teach all the children in our village.”

Village Chief Liu nodded. ”Alright, Xiao Rui. I trust you to get things done. I’ll take care of all the paperwork and procedures.”

”Actually, even if you hadn’t come to me about the kindergarten today, I was going to find you to discuss something.”

Hearing this, Han Xiaorui looked surprised. ”Chief Liu, what is it? If it’s something I can do, please just tell me.”

Village Chief Liu was pleased by this, feeling that Han Xiaorui respected him. ”The fishing ban officially starts next year. Other places are all starting to get into aquaculture and tourism. If we here in Jinshan Bay don’t keep up, all the money will be earned by other villages.”

”You have a good head on your shoulders. You’re smart, well-read, and experienced. What do you think about our village getting into aquaculture?”

Han Xiaorui nodded. ”Of course it’s a good idea. There’s no reason we can’t do what others are doing. Inshore fishing is very difficult now; aquaculture is the way of the future.”

”Farmed seafood tastes different from wild-caught, and the price is a bit lower, but it’s ultimately a controllable business. If it’s done well, you can still earn a lot in a year.”

Seeing that Han Xiaorui approved of the idea, Village Chief Liu felt more confident. ”But the initial investment is large, and no one in the village is willing to take on the contract. It’s making me anxious. You and Zhigang have a big boat and a good income, so you probably don’t have time to run an aquaculture farm. But if even people with high incomes like you don’t invest in it, then no one else in the village will dare to.”

Han Xiaorui thought for a moment. ”Chief Liu, I have actually considered leasing the sea area for aquaculture. But we just bought the big boat, and I’ve been so focused on fishing at sea that I forgot about it.”

”Uncle Yang has his hands full with family matters recently, so he probably doesn’t have time either. Can you give me a week? I’ll think it over, do some research on the surrounding areas, and then get back to you. How does that sound?”

Seeing that Han Xiaorui hadn’t rejected him outright, Village Chief Liu felt a bit more hopeful. ”Alright. There’s no rush with this. Take your time. By the way, what’s the situation with Zhigang? Has Jianming been released yet?”
