The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 102: Chapter 102: I Cut Them All Down

Grandpa Qing was heading into town today to sell vegetables, so he offered to give Han Xiaorui and Han Xiaoqing a ride.

”Xiao Rui, is it easy to find work over in Shencheng?” Grandpa Qing asked tentatively. He had originally wanted to find a husband for his granddaughter, but all she thought about was leaving to find a job.

But his family had hardly ever been to the county seat, so how could they dare let his granddaughter go off to work somewhere else?

Han Xiaorui understood what he was getting at and smiled. ”There are private factories there that hire people from out of town. But the hours are long, and it’s a little tiring.”

Hearing this, Grandpa Qing smiled. ”A little tiring is no problem. I’m just worried it won’t be a steady gig. Xiao Rui, do you think you could help my granddaughter and grandson find jobs over there?”

Han Xiaorui thought for a moment, not wanting to refuse him outright. ”Grandpa Qing, I won’t be able to find anything right away. How about this? After I get back, if I find something, I’ll send you a telegram. Would that work?”

Hearing this, Grandpa Qing nodded eagerly. ”Yes, of course! That would be great.”

「Halfway there, on a remote stretch of road.」

Three young thugs with their faces covered rode up on bicycles, overtook the donkey cart, and blocked its path.

They had thought Han Xiaorui and Han Xiaoqing were pretty from a distance, but up close, they were even more beautiful.

Normally, they would have wanted to harass them for a bit.

But they had a job to do today. First, they had to grab their target. ”Hurry up! Grab the one with the shorter hair.”

Grandpa Qing was startled and quickly pulled out a sickle. ”You’re committing robbery in broad daylight! Aren’t you afraid of getting executed in the crackdown?”

Seeing Grandpa Qing pull out the sickle, the three thugs charged at him with steel pipes.

Grandpa Qing was old, and he’d thought the three thugs were just trying to scare him. He underestimated them.

One of the thugs struck Grandpa Qing with a pipe. ”AH!” Grandpa Qing cried out, the sickle falling from his hand to the ground.

The moment the thugs charged, Han Xiaorui leaped from the cart and snatched the fallen sickle. ”Xiao Jing, protect the kids!”

Han Xiaorui swung the sickle at the thug. Her movement was viciously precise, and the blade struck his arm, cutting straight to the bone.

The thug shrieked, his face contorted in a grimace. The steel pipe fell from his grasp as he convulsed in pain.

Meanwhile, Han Xiaoqing shielded Pingping and An’an with her body, holding them tight.

A thug’s steel pipe slammed into Han Xiaoqing’s back, and she cried out in pain. ”AH...!”

The children, terrified, started to cry. Han Xiaoqing gritted her teeth, forcing herself to stay silent so as not to frighten her nieces any further.

Han Xiaorui snatched up a fallen steel pipe and thrust it at the thug who was grabbing Han Xiaoqing’s arm.

The pipe struck the thug squarely in the eye, popping the eyeball from its socket. He screamed, clutching his face with both hands as he writhed on the ground in agony.

The bald thug who had been blocking the cart saw his two companions writhing on the ground. He immediately turned his bicycle around and started to flee.

Seeing that the blinded thug was no longer a threat, Han Xiaorui, sickle in hand, sprinted after the fleeing bald one.

The thug was pedaling faster and faster, and Han Xiaorui realized she couldn’t catch him on foot. She narrowed her eyes, took aim, and hurled the sickle with all her might, channeling her superpower.

Grandpa Qing’s blood-stained sickle sailed through the air in a graceful arc, the blade embedding itself squarely in the bald thug’s back.

The bald thug’s body swayed from the impact, and gushing blood quickly stained his clothes red.

Han Xiaorui panted, exhausted. ’There’s no doubt about it,’ she thought. ’The people who stole my sister’s university spot are behind this!’

’It’s obvious they don’t want my sister alive!’

’Since they’ve made their move, I won’t show any mercy.’

Grandpa Qing had been sure they were done for, but he never expected Han Dayong’s eldest daughter to be so fierce.

Three burly men: one with a mangled arm, one blinded in an eye, and the last one didn’t get away either—the sickle was still sticking out of his back!

Han Xiaorui ran back. ”Xiao Jing, are you okay?”

Han Xiaoqing had taken a blow to the back with a pipe. ”I’m fine, Sis. Quick, go comfort Pingping and An’an.”

”Pingping, An’an, don’t cry.” Han Xiaorui took the twins from Han Xiaoqing’s arms. ”Grandpa Qing, we’re not going out today. Could I trouble you to go to the police station and file a report?”

Grandpa Qing nodded again and again. ”Right. I’ll take you all home first. As for these bastards, we’ll just leave them...”

Just then, another donkey cart approached from the opposite direction. ”Xiao Rui...”

Hearing the voice, Han Xiaorui whipped her head around. She saw Ye Feng, and her heart, which had been a whirlwind of anger and panic, suddenly calmed. ”Ye Feng!”

With Ye Feng here, she knew she, her sister, and her two daughters were safe.

’Besides, she had just maimed three thugs. There would be consequences to deal with.’

Following behind Ye Feng was a police officer from the local station who knew the roads well.

As they got closer, the sight of the three screaming, tattooed thugs left the grown men completely dumbfounded.

Ye Feng leaped down from his donkey cart. ”Xiao Rui, were these men highway robbers?”

Han Xiaorui frowned and shook her head. ”They had their faces covered. They chased us down and tried to abduct my sister. I suspect they were hired. The mastermind is the person who stole my sister’s spot at the university.”

”And this...?” Ye Feng gestured toward the rather miserable-looking attackers.

Han Xiaorui answered without hesitation. ”I did it. They were trying to hurt my sister. I was forced to fight back. It was self-defense.”

Ye Feng looked down and gave a small smile. ”Good job.”

The officer from the Ping Shui Town police station, Wu Cheng, pulled the black cloth off one of the thug’s faces. ”Doesn’t look like they’re from around Ping Shui Town. Out-of-town robbers. Come on, help me get them onto the cart so we can haul them away!”

’This is a huge bust!’

Seeing the police officer, Grandpa Qing finally composed himself. ”Officer, these men are pure evil! They weren’t just trying to kidnap someone, they were trying to kill!”

Scum like that deserve to be shot!

Wu Cheng applied some simple bandages to the three men, tossed them onto the cart, and started heading back.

Ye Feng walked alongside the cart Han Xiaorui was in. Seeing the terrified looks on Pingping and An’an’s faces, he pulled a box of chocolates out of his bag as if by magic.

The wrappers were bright and colorful, very pretty to look at.

”Pingping, An’an, don’t be afraid. Have some chocolate.”

Perhaps it was because they saw a familiar face, or perhaps because Ye Feng was so tall and imposing, but Pingping and An’an immediately felt a sense of security.

”Thank you, Uncle Ye,” the sisters said, taking the chocolates and thanking him sweetly.

Han Xiaorui asked urgently, ”Ye Feng, what’s the status of the investigation?”

Han Xiaoqing, forgetting the pain in her back for a moment, looked pleadingly at her sister and Ye Feng.

Seeing Han Xiaorui’s concerned expression and Han Xiaoqing’s red-rimmed eyes, Ye Feng smiled. ”Chen Nanyang is handling things in Shencheng. He’s already filed a police report and started a covert investigation. The fake Han Xiaoqing’s exam papers and assignments have been sealed. In addition, the Shencheng Education Bureau and East China Normal University are requesting to see the college entrance exam papers to compare the handwriting.”

”As for things here in Guishi, I got a photo of the impostor and the address from her personal letters. I found out her name is Han Yuwei, and her father is Han Yongchang of the Guishi Investment Promotion Bureau. I also paid a visit to one of my old man’s former subordinates, Secretary Cai of Guishi. All we have to do is report this to the county police, and they will dispatch officers immediately...”
