The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 130: Chapter 130: His Old Man Was Cuckolded?

Han Xiaorui paused and turned to look.

An older man with salt-and-pepper hair, a straight back, and a formidable build stood in the doorway of the hospital room.

Han Xiaorui didn’t recognize him, but she could see a faint resemblance to Ye Feng in his features.

’This must be Ye Feng’s father.’

”You’re seriously injured. Why didn’t you have someone tell me?” Ye Zheng’s tone was just as cold and hard. He felt his son was born with a rebellious streak, destined to be his bane.

Ye Feng raised an eyebrow, his tone equally cold. ”I didn’t tell you, but you found out anyway, didn’t you? It’s not like it’s a fatal injury. I’m not going to die.”

”Even if I did die, it wouldn’t matter. You have another son to take care of you in your old age, so you don’t have to worry about having no one to see you off!”

”You!” Seeing Ye Feng’s indifferent expression, Ye Zheng seethed with anger. ”I’m your father. You should show me some respect.”

Ye Feng scoffed. ”Then maybe you should do something worthy of my respect, instead of secretly getting a new wife without so much as a word to your unfortunate son.”

Ye Zheng’s anger deepened, and he nearly lost control of his expression.

Han Xiaorui reached out and pinched Ye Feng’s arm. ’They could clearly speak to each other nicely, so why do they have to start fighting the moment they see each other?’

”Ye Feng, aren’t you going to introduce me?”

’Now that he was in a relationship and not single anymore,’ Ye Feng thought, ’he didn’t have to care about what others thought, and especially not what his old man thought.’

’But he had used his father’s status to resolve Han Xiaoqing’s issue in Guishi last time.’

”Xiao Rui, this is my... my dad. Dad, this is my girlfriend, Han Xiaorui.”

Ye Zheng was still fuming, but when he heard Ye Feng call him ”Dad” again, his heart filled with a bittersweet mix of sorrow and joy. ”Xiao Rui, has your sister’s matter been resolved?”

Han Xiaorui was very grateful to Ye Feng, and she knew that without his father’s help, the issue wouldn’t have been resolved so smoothly and quickly.

”Uncle Ye, my sister’s situation has been resolved. Not only will she be able to attend university, but she can also study psychology, which she’s passionate about. Now that I’ve finally met you, I can thank you in person.”

Ye Feng knew the gist of what had happened and was furious about it, but he was glad it was resolved. ”That’s good,” Ye Zheng said. ”Tell your sister to study hard and contribute to society.”

”She will,” Han Xiaorui replied. ”It’s not often we get a chance like this. We should have a proper chat. I’ll go to the restaurant next door and book a private room. I’d like to treat you to lunch, Uncle Ye.”

”That’s not necessary!” Ye Feng refused.

”Alright!” Ye Zheng agreed. He only knew about Han Xiaorui and Han Xiaoqing’s situation from what Xiao Cai had told him.

Ye Zheng wanted to take this opportunity to learn more about her.

’My first impression of her is good. She’s poised and graceful.’

’It’s just that she’s been married and divorced, and she has a child... it’s a little... well, forget it. Even if I objected, Ye Feng wouldn’t listen to me.’

’He didn’t listen when he was young, and now that he’s almost thirty, he’s even less likely to listen.’

’Besides, it’s a wonder he managed to find a girlfriend at his age at all.’

’With Ye Feng’s cold and stubborn personality, I thought he’d be a bachelor for life.’

’I never thought that on the cusp of turning thirty, he’d find himself such a beautiful woman.’

Han Xiaorui smiled, pressing her lips together. ”You’re just being stubborn. If you can’t play host to Uncle Ye, then I’ll do it for you.”

’If Ye Feng truly couldn’t stand his father,’ she thought, ’he wouldn’t have introduced me, nor would he have called him ”Dad”.’

’Ye Feng probably still feels conflicted and can’t switch gears so quickly.’

Hearing Han Xiaorui’s words, Ye Feng was exasperated. ”You don’t have to suck up to him.”

’Now that’s a comment that’s asking for a punch!’

Ye Feng’s words stoked Ye Zheng’s anger once more.

However, he didn’t let it show. Instead, he observed Han Xiaorui closely, waiting to see how she would respond.

Han Xiaorui gave a small smile. She took out a handkerchief and gently wiped the sweat from Ye Feng’s forehead. Her voice was soft and pleasant. ”How is this sucking up? You just said it yourself, he’s your father. And I’m your girlfriend. This is the first time I’m meeting your family, so I should be a little more proper about it.”

”If my home weren’t so far away, I’d invite Uncle Ye over. Be good, now. I’ll have the restaurant make something delicious for you later.”

Ye Feng’s eyes remained fixed on Han Xiaorui. He let himself be placated by her as if he were a child, and finally, he chuckled. ”Alright. You handle it.”

Watching his bristling son be soothed by Han Xiaorui’s gentle words, Ye Zheng was once again struck with emotion.

’Even a hero is no match for a beautiful woman!’

’None of them can resist! Not a single one!’

After Han Xiaorui left the hospital room, Ye Zheng said irritably, ”It’s a real surprise that someone could actually like a person like you.”

”There’s a lot about me that would surprise you!” Ye Feng retorted, his refusal to back down seemingly instinctual.

At this moment, Ye Feng was no longer the calm and composed Director Ye, but a rebellious child.

He was only ever like this in front of his father, Ye Zheng.

Ye Zheng raised his hand, but seeing the injuries on Ye Feng’s body, he let it fall to the bedside instead. ”Do you know everything about Han Xiaorui’s situation? Have you thought through the problems you’ll face in the future?”

The rebellious look on Ye Feng’s face vanished, replaced by a serious and earnest expression.

”If I were eight years old, I’d be naive and ignorant. If I were eighteen, I’d be impulsive and reckless. But I’m twenty-seven, almost twenty-eight. I know what I want, and I know what kind of person I want to spend the rest of my life with.”

Hearing his son speak with such conviction, what more could Ye Zheng say?

What could he do but let his rebellious son have his way?

Besides, Han Xiaorui’s poised and graceful demeanor had left a good impression on him.

Looking at his son, who bore a strong resemblance to him, he was reminded of his own youth. Everyone had opposed his relationship with Xu Lulu, but he had loved her all the same.

As someone who had been through it himself, in that moment, Ye Zheng understood his son.

Ye Zheng shook his head with a wry smile. ”Even now, I don’t regret falling in love with your mother, marrying her, and having you. All I hope is that you won’t have any regrets in the future.”

”I never regret my actions,” Ye Feng said, his tone resolute. ”I...”

Ye Feng opened his mouth, but he couldn’t bring himself to ask the question.

Seeing his son hesitate, Ye Zheng smiled. ”Ten years have passed. It’s about time we had a heart-to-heart talk. Whatever’s on your mind, just ask.”

’He was getting old. He didn’t have many decades left to spend in a standoff with his son.’

Ye Feng thought for a moment, choosing his words carefully. He didn’t want to ask in the most scathing way possible.

”I want to ask you... during the two years Mom was bedridden, were you already having an affair with Wang Liwen?”

”Nonsense! Of course not!” Ye Zheng denied without a second thought. ”While your mother was sick, your Aunt Wang was with someone else. Before we got married, your Aunt Wang and I never did anything to cross that line.”

Hearing this, Ye Feng was stunned. He had clearly seen Wang Liwen at the hospital for a prenatal check-up. ”Impossible! Mom hadn’t even passed away yet, and Wang Liwen was already pregnant. How can you say you didn’t cross the line?”

’He had been on the verge of reconciling with his father, but even now, the man was still lying to him.’

Anger flared in Ye Feng’s heart. He was deeply disappointed in his father.

His father didn’t even have the courage to admit it. Ye Feng couldn’t bring himself to forgive a man like that.

”That child wasn’t mine,” Ye Zheng said, looking at the increasingly grim and cold expression on his son’s face. He decided it was time to tell him the truth.

”Huh?” Ye Feng was completely floored. ’What in the world is going on?’

’Did Wang Liwen cheat on his old man?’
