Chapter 103: Chapter 103: Fortunately You Came! Fortunately You Weren’t Late

After Ye Feng spoke, Han Xiaoqing finally couldn’t hold back her tears and began to cry.

She felt wronged, but at the same time, incredibly lucky.

If her sister and her sister’s friends hadn’t helped, she might never have received justice in her entire life.

Seeing her aunt crying, Pingping took her handkerchief out of her little bag. ”Auntie, wipe your tears.”

She clumsily wiped Han Xiaoqing’s tears.

An’an offered the chocolate in her hand. ”Auntie, have some candy. Don’t cry.”

After their mother, their aunt was the kindest person to them.

Children have the truest instincts, and they loved Han Xiaoqing in their own special way.

Not wanting to scare the two children, Han Xiaoqing dried her tears. ”Thank you.”

Han Xiaorui said gratefully, ”Ye Feng, thank you for coming!”

Ye Feng turned slightly and chuckled. ”Glad I wasn’t too late!”

Wang Qiang had met Han Xiaorui twice before. From his interactions with her, he knew she wasn’t just beautiful, but also calm and methodical.

He never expected that on their third meeting, he would witness Han Xiaorui’s incredible ferocity.

Three grown thugs, and Han Xiaorui had taken them all down by herself!

One with a broken arm!

One with a blinded eye!

And one stabbed in the lower back!

In contrast, Han Xiaorui’s group of ”the old, the weak, women, and children” was completely unharmed, aside from the fright.

Liu Zhan, while still reeling from Han Xiaorui’s ferocity, noticed that his captain was smiling!

He nudged Ma Peng with his elbow. ”Looks like the captain’s met someone he’s interested in.”

Ma Peng wasn’t blind; of course he saw it. ”I hope the heavens are watching this time and grant the captain some happiness.”

Liu Zhan pondered for a moment. ”Isn’t romance the God of Marriage’s department?”

Ma Peng paused. ”Don’t get bogged down in the details! The heavens are still in charge of the God of Marriage! Anyway, all that matters is that we wish for the captain’s happiness.”

”By the way, that woman talking to the captain is gorgeous! She’s a good match for him!”

Their captain was exceptionally good-looking, incredibly handsome.

If they were women, they would have definitely fallen in love with the captain!

Liu Zhan hesitated slightly. ”But it looks like that woman has kids! That means she must have been married!”

Ma Peng grew a little tense but ultimately trusted Ye Feng’s character. ”So what if she has kids? So what if she was married? Our captain has always been self-disciplined and restrained. That woman must be divorced.”

Full of questions but not daring to ask their captain directly, they could only try to get information from Wang Qiang.

Wang Qiang scratched his head. ”I’m not really sure about that either! But it’s the captain’s business, so we should stay out of it!”

They reported the crime at the Ping Shui Town police station, and the three robbers were sent to the local hospital for treatment.

The one with the broken arm, who was the least injured, was interrogated by the police.

They insisted they were only attempting a robbery and refused to say who had put them up to it.

The police could only lock them up for now and continue the investigation.

Wang Qiang drove Ye Feng, Han Xiaorui, Han Xiaoqing, and the two children straight to the Yangkai County Public Security Bureau to file a report.

Having received a call from Secretary Cai, Director Liu was already on high alert and ready to act.

Upon receiving the report, he immediately split his forces into several teams.

Two officers took Han Xiaorui and Han Xiaoqing to Yangkai High School.

Two other officers went directly to the County Education Bureau to bring Vice Director Xu in for questioning.

A third team was dispatched to investigate the relationship between Vice Director Xu and Han Yuwei.

And a fourth team of two officers went to Han Family Village to investigate the parents of Han Xiaorui and Han Xiaoqing.

When they arrived at the school, Principal Wang heard from the front office that police were there to investigate. Unsure of the reason, he came over personally.

”Officers, whatever you need, we will cooperate fully with your investigation.” Principal Wang stated his position first, waiting to hear what the issue was.

Director Liu asked grimly, ”Do you recognize her?”

Han Xiaoqing stepped forward. ”Principal Wang.”

”Han Xiaoqing?” Principal Wang looked perplexed. ”Of course. Like her sister Han Xiaorui, she was always number one at our school. She got into East China Normal University last year.”

Teacher Zhou happened to see Han Xiaorui and Han Xiaoqing and hurried over. ”Xiao Rui, Xiao Jing, it’s so good to see you! You must give a talk to the younger students about how to study, and tell them how exciting the world outside is!”

Seeing Teacher Zhou, Han Xiaoqing burst into tears with a WAIL. ”Teacher Zhou, I... My spot was stolen. I never received an acceptance letter, so I thought I hadn’t passed the exam. I felt so ashamed that I went straight to Shencheng to find work.”

Hearing this, the color drained from Teacher Zhou’s face. ”That’s impossible! You didn’t come that day, so your parents said you weren’t feeling well and picked up the acceptance letter for you. Several other teachers were in the office at the time.”

”SOB SOB SOB!” Han Xiaoqing finally let herself cry without restraint, sobbing inconsolably.

Both Principal Wang and Teacher Zhou were furious.

They had dedicated their entire lives to teaching. To think that one of their own students, who had worked so hard to pass the exams, had not gone to university but had her place stolen by someone else.

”Director Liu, I will do everything in my power to assist your investigation. Han Xiaoqing is an outstanding graduate of our school. Not only do we remember her, but our current juniors and seniors have also seen her.”

”We can all vouch that Han Xiaoqing was accepted into the university. We don’t know this imposter who went in her place. She is not a student from our school.”

Teacher Zhou quickly added, ”That’s right, all the subject teachers can testify to that. I’ll call them over right now. Oh, and I still have Han Xiaoqing’s collection of corrected test papers and her notebooks. They’re right in my desk drawer.”

”Even if someone tried to forge her handwriting, it would be impossible to replicate it perfectly in a short amount of time. Director Liu, you must investigate this thoroughly. To think that such a bright and hardworking student was denied an education...”

”This is a loss for the country and a loss for society. We must get justice for this child. This cannot be swept under the rug!”

”We will handle this with impartiality. Principal Wang, Teacher Zhou, and the other teachers, please provide your statements.” Director Liu’s voice was grave. The situation was abominable.

When the students heard from Principal Wang, Teacher Zhou, and the other teachers that the top-scoring student from last year’s class had had her spot stolen, they erupted in anger.

The powerful and influential could steal Han Xiaoqing’s spot today; if no one did anything, then tomorrow, someone could steal the university places *they* worked so hard for.

Students poured out of their classrooms, chanting, ”Find the mastermind! Find the mastermind!”

If Principal Wang and Teacher Zhou hadn’t calmed them down, the students would have rushed out to protest in the streets.

Hearing the shouts from outside, Director Li froze. Only two words echoed in his mind.

’I’m screwed!’

’Not only did those three thugs fail to get rid of Han Xiaoqing, but she even called the police! And it looks like the investigation has already started on Shencheng’s side, too.’

Vice Director Xu from the Education Bureau was brought into the police station. A photo of Han Yuwei at East China Normal University was placed in front of him. ”Confess and you’ll be treated with leniency. Resist and you’ll face the consequences.”

”I... I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Vice Director Xu equivocated. He had already called his brother-in-law, Han Wenchang.

’My brother-in-law has a lot of connections in the city. He should be able to figure something out.’

Officer Zhao said grimly, ”It doesn’t matter if you don’t admit it. We are currently retrieving the exam papers and other academic records for both Han Xiaoqing and Han Yuwei. It won’t be long before we can prove that Han Yuwei went to university under a false identity.”
