Warhammer Divine Throne

”How do you know?” Laine was a bit puzzled.

”Dark elves are best at playing these little tricks... and the Corundia family...” The two hid outside: ”You should be grateful, Laine, if she isn’t genuinely being your maid, she could poison you at any time.”

They sat behind a coffin in a corridor, Laine laughed and said: ”I never forcefully take anything.”

”This has nothing to do with whether you use force or not; dark elves don’t care if you use force, it doesn’t matter to them. Dark elves enjoy the process and then the revenge. Some might even collect a man’s... as a trophy, just because you let her experience pleasure,” Tygris told Laine.

”...” Today, Laine felt a bit uneasy with the cold breeze in the underground building complex.

”Do elves really have no such notions at all? Even after getting married, can they still go out and be promiscuous?” They needed to wait for a while, so he chatted idly with Tygris.

”...That’s something you misunderstood. High elves only don’t mind these things when they don’t have a fixed partner. When they choose a fixed partner or even marry, they are very virtuous and serious, like my brother Terion. Ever since he became a partner with Ailarielle, he rarely indulges in revelry outside,” Tygris tried to clear things up because Laine misunderstood again, attempting to clear his brother’s name.

”No, I’ve heard Lilith say that the Phoenix King and the Eternal Queen are the couple,” Laine retorted.

”Indeed, the Phoenix King and the Eternal Queen are legally married,” Tygris replied, at a loss for words, ”But the Phoenix King and Eternal Queen are only meant to give birth to the next Eternal Queen, then they can separate and find their own partners.”

”So... the next Eternal Queen is born from Finuba and Ailarielle?” Laine continued to joke, as the Lake Fairy had told him about these things.

”Uh...” Tygris was stumped, unable to respond.

All Ossuan people know that the next Eternal Queen is the child of Terion and Ailarielle, having nothing to do with Finuba. This current Phoenix King and Eternal Queen haven’t even spent a day cohabitating.

Whether he admits it or not, he contradicted what he emphasized to Laine before, so the Supreme Grandmaster simply stayed silent.

Laine smiled without probing further. There were things not necessary to investigate deeply, he understood Tygris, the Supreme Grandmaster had helped him a lot, and he would give Tygris some face.

An hour later, Archbishop Vicma indeed finished browsing the forbidden texts and returned to his bedroom, picked up his now cold coffee, smelled it, checked with a silver needle, determined it was safe then drank it hastily, chewing a few bites of black bread as he corrected documents in his bedroom.

Laine gestured to Tygris to continue patiently waiting.

Half an hour passed, snoring echoed, and Archbishop Vicma finally fell asleep on the table.

The moment had arrived!

”Quick! This potion is ineffective against Holy Sanctuary Powerhouses! We have at most an hour! We must find a way to escape quickly!”

”Let’s go!”

Tygris and Laine lifted Archbishop Vicma from the table.

The two rushed, carrying the Archbishop’s body, running upwards: ”Quick, quick!”

Vicma’s body was very heavy, with over two hundred pounds including the Magic Artifacts and jewelry on his clothes. To minimize the noise they caused, Laine simply carried the Archbishop on his back.

They ran madly, emerging from the basement, to find a golden carriage set inside the Holy Relic Hall. Laine held the Archbishop’s body, placing him inside the carriage, while Tygris pressed Vicma’s ring against the carriage mechanism.

The Divine Power embedded in the ring activated the carriage and issued a call. Laine and Tygris both breathed a sigh of relief at this sight, each sitting on either side, squeezing the sleeping Archbishop towards the right window position.

”Giddy-up!” Laine gently flicked the reins, signalling the horses to move. The four tall steeds recognized Laine was unfamiliar but decided to obey due to the comfortable aura from him and Tygris.

The carriage slowly exited the Holy Relic Hall.

Outside the hall, bright lights illuminated hundreds of Ascetic Monks and over a hundred Paladins, with over two hundred Combat Priests patrolling nearby. Upon seeing the Archbishop’s carriage exit the Holy Relic Hall, these Clergy ceased their activities to show their respect to Archbishop Vicma: ”I offer my homage to Your Majesty Vicma!”

”Charlemagne blesses us!”

”For our Lord!”

The curtain on the carriage window was slightly raised, revealing Archbishop Vicma’s eyes tightly shut, seemingly lost in profound contemplation. He didn’t wave as usual but deeply nodded.

The guards found it peculiar as despite Vicma’s usual solemnity, he wouldn’t remain unspoken.

The window curtain dropped again, leaving the guards feeling uneasy and secretly worried. Did something go wrong somewhere, affecting the Archbishop’s mood?

Due to an incident, the Justice Church Cathedral was now under tight surveillance, with guards every few steps. Laine peeked through the curtain gap, heart nearly leaping out of his chest, noting the vicinity teeming with Demon Hunters and guards! Exposure meant that even he and Tygris couldn’t possibly escape successfully!

If discovered, their actions would lead to an almost certain death!

The carriage’s wheels rumbled as Laine sweated, and Tygris’s grip on the Magic Staff turned pale.

Luckily, not too many accidents occurred along their route, allowing the carriage to proceed smoothly outward.

The gates of the Justice Church Cathedral were not far off! If they traversed a bit beyond, they could easily escape! The horses remembered the Holy Relic Hall’s location; they’d safely return Vicma there.

Five hundred meters.

Two hundred meters.

One hundred meters.

Just twenty meters from the gate, an abrupt change occurred! A local Cardinal with several Combat Priests and Demon Hunters blocked the carriage: ”Your Majesty Vicma, sorry to disturb you, but we have matters needing your judgment.”

The carriage curtain revealed Archbishop Vicma’s face to the Cardinal, eyes still closed, his long handlebar mustache and stern expression looking serious. The Archbishop slowly nodded, seeming intent to listen to his subordinates.

”His Majesty the Emperor was shocked upon hearing reports of Chaos Cultists appearing in the Cathedral. Standard Bearer Ludwig has already led troops to the Fallen Nobles’ castle to quell the rebellion. The Emperor sent someone to inquire whether the Justice Church can dispatch a team of Paladins and some Demon Hunters to assist Ludwig?” the Cardinal loudly asked.

Inside the curtain, Archbishop Vicma still kept his eyes closed, continuously nodding, yet issued no directives.

”Can we dispatch Paladins and Demon Hunters, Your Majesty Vicma?” Witnessing only nods with ambiguous intent, the Cardinal asked anxiously: ”My Archbishop, please issue a clear decree! The Emperor’s envoy is awaiting your decision.”

Vicma still only nodded.

This time, inside the hall, guards and Demon Hunters sensed something off, and the Cardinal felt particularly puzzled, starting to move closer and attempting to touch the carriage door: ”My Archbishop? What happened, what’s wrong? Please speak up?”

Damn it!!!

Inside the carriage, Laine held Archbishop Vicma’s neck nodding, seeing guards nearing, his heart rate had soared to one hundred and eighty beats per minute!

What to do, what to do, what to do???!!!
