Warhammer Divine Throne

”Emmanuelle, the strong claimant and rightful heir to the titles of Grand Duke of Nuer, Duke of Weisen, and Brescia Prince-Elector...” Umberto Prince-Elector was cautious and reserved, having lived for over two hundred years. He participated in the Great Holy War alongside Savior Ludwig.

Vamil Prince-Elector’s eyes glimmered with light as he thought of his legitimate son, Oleg von Rukov.

But the light soon faded away. Imperial law decrees that a Prince-Elector’s family must not merge, and the electoral rights must remain independent; no family can hold more than two electoral votes.

”Emmanuelle von Lebewitz-Bernardino, the legitimate daughter of the former Brescia Prince-Elector, Duke of Weisen Andrea Bernardino, went missing after the Battle of the Giant Dragon Forest. Subsequently, the Griffin Knight Order was dispatched to repel the Beastman Tribe encircling Weisenburg, yet Emmanuelle vanished without a trace. Currently, the position of Prince-Elector is temporarily held by Gian Bernardino, Andrea’s cousin, whose claim is quite weak... Your Majesty, since you know Emmanuelle’s whereabouts, why have you not sent someone to bring her back?” Marshal Rick Heilberg pondered for a moment; amid everyone’s silence, he said first: ”Why leave the Grand Duke of Nuer’s title suspended, allowing the Prince-Elector and Duke of Weisen titles to be usurped by others?”

”His Majesty must have his reasons for doing so,” Standard Bearer Ludwig finally spoke.

”Gentlemen, you must understand a fact; Emmanuelle was only a teenager when she disappeared. What awaits her if she suddenly becomes a Prince-Elector and Grand Duke of Nuer at such a young age?” Emperor Carl Franz began to speak: ”Do not forget that the vast majority of Weisen Territory’s elite forces and supporters of the Brescia Prince-Elector were wiped out in the Battle of the Giant Dragon Forest!”

”Currently, Emmanuelle lacks her own army and noble supporters. Do you think it would lead to a good outcome if she recklessly claimed herself the rightful heir to Duke of Weisen, Grand Duke of Nuer, and Brescia Prince-Elector?” Emperor Carl Franz sneered: ”I met Emmanuelle many times in my childhood; she is not a foolish woman. At this point, it is better to disappear than to be controlled by those nobles!”

Everyone nodded in agreement, and then Umberto Prince-Elector spoke: ”So... Emmanuelle chose to disappear to retain her strong claim to those three titles, seeking a chance to return and present her case to you, Carl?”

”Perhaps, perhaps not.” The Emperor shook his head: ”She seems to be quite happy being a maid, showing no intention of returning to the empire.”

”......” Everyone was speechless.

”The bloodline of the Bernardino family should not remain in exile for long. Since you know where she is, Majesty, you should reunite with her and bring her back! The Nuer Knight Corps and Nuer Armored Army have long only recognized Emmanuelle as their loyalty’s object, and Lady Elspeth von Draken of the Death Element Sanctuary continues to search for Emmanuelle’s whereabouts. She lacks neither supporters nor people seeking her!” Heilberg still couldn’t understand why Emperor Carl Franz did not reunite with Emmanuelle.

”Heilberg, you must have something confused. Those nobles are searching for Emmanuelle not to truly support and embrace her. Their aim is to capture Emmanuelle, marry her to their family’s son, and quickly produce a legitimate heir! Afterward, Emmanuelle would no longer serve any purpose!” Great Alchemist Geld suddenly spoke: ”A cup of poisoned wine, a runaway carriage, a coincidence, and Emmanuelle would leave this world, allowing her child to naturally inherit the Prince-Elector title. Thus, these ambitious nobles would seize one Prince-Elector title and two Duke titles.”

”Precisely, for those nobles, all they want is Emmanuelle’s strong claim!” The Emperor’s face was stern as he gazed at the flames on the silver candle holder on the table: ”Back then, Emmanuelle was merely a teenager. Even if I reunited with her and brought her back to Nuer, what could she do? Hastily reuniting back then would expose her and plunge her prematurely into the vortex of the Nuer Court!”

Attendees were thoroughly convinced by the Emperor’s wisdom and foresight. Merely reuniting back then would have harmed Emmanuelle.

”With the passage of time and development over several years, the situation has changed. Nuer’s noble courts are fed up with the Schroder family’s regency, which has left Nuer in chaos. Everyone hopes to restore Emmanuelle to return Nuer under Bernardino family management because they need change, as things will not worsen fundamentally... And for Weisen Territory, Gian as Prince-Elector is not suitable for leadership; he is engrossed all day in emulating Holy Grail Knights beyond the mountain in completing heroic tales, which is resented by both Weisen Territory’s commoners and nobles alike.”

”Moreover, those families and armies once supportive of Bernardino have spent over a decade recovering their strength, especially the Nuer Armored Army, Weisen Black Rose Legion, and Knight Corps have mostly restored their formations. They wish to reclaim their lost honor, and the first step is to welcome Emmanuelle back, or else they will never be able to erase the shame of failing to protect the Prince-Elector!”
