Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2084: Chapter 2085: Unifying the World (Part 14)

Seeing An Jing and Xiao Changyi worrying about her brothers again, An Baobei brought over a plate of yam cake, sat down between them, and pretended to complain unhappily: ”Dad, Mom, you’re going to spoil me rotten. You should let me join my big brothers on the battlefield to kill the enemy!”

An Jing chuckled, gently stroked her neck, and said: ”You don’t think your dad and I have enough children going off already? You want to go too, so your dad and mom have one more to worry about?”

An Baobei handed An Jing a piece of yam cake to eat before saying: ”Not at all, I just feel that the country is in trouble. I have a responsibility and want to go, that’s all.”

As she spoke, An Baobei handed the plate to Xiao Changyi, offering him a yam cake.

Xiao Changyi shook his head expressionlessly, indicating he didn’t want it.

”Dad, just have one. Second Sister-in-law noticed you and Mom haven’t had much appetite lately and made different pastries to help you eat a bit.”

An Jing smiled and said: ”Dear, go ahead and have a piece.”

Only then did Xiao Changyi pick up a piece of yam cake to eat.

An Baobei commented with bright eyes: ”Dad still listens to Mom, as always.”

”You little rascal,” An Jing lightly tapped An Baobei’s head, ”No teasing Dad and Mom.”

Not hurt at all, An Baobei grinned mischievously.

An Jing shook her head with helpless affection, then asked: ”Did you make a lot of yam cakes? If there are more, send some to your godmother Aunt Ye and Color Aunt.”

An Baobei replied: ”Second Sister-in-law already sent Xin’er to deliver them, and even to First Sister-in-law.”

”Speaking of your First Sister-in-law, why hasn’t she come out today? Go check on her, make sure nothing’s wrong.” An Jing realized she hadn’t seen Feng Feiyan today.

An Baobei said: ”Second Sister-in-law checked early this morning. First Sister-in-law is fine; she just said she’s staying in to sew clothes for Big Brother to wear when he returns.”

An Jing nodded to show she understood. Then she sighed: ”Six out of my seven sons went to the battlefield. It’s impossible for your dad and me not to worry. We’ve overlooked your First Sister-in-law these days, so be extra mindful and don’t let her think we’re neglecting her.”

An Baobei laughed and said: ”Both you and Dad are very thoughtful people; First Sister-in-law knows that. Second Sister-in-law even said First Sister-in-law asked her to take extra care of you both, afraid you’d have issues at your age. Ha ha, I think you, Dad, and First Sister-in-law shouldn’t be so sensitive; we’re all family, no need to be so formal.”

”It’s not that your dad and mom are sensitive, it’s about your First Sister-in-law’s leg... Sigh...” Saying this, An Jing sighed again.

Thinking about Feng Feiyan’s leg, An Baobei felt uneasy too but quickly comforted her: ”Mom, isn’t Uncle Gong still trying to treat First Sister-in-law’s leg? Maybe by the time Big Brother and the others return, First Sister-in-law’s leg will be healed.”

An Jing smiled and said: ”I certainly hope so.” After a pause, her eyes dimmed again, ”But your Uncle Gong tried treating her leg again yesterday, yet it still lacks feeling—it’s difficult.”

An Baobei said: ”No matter how difficult, aren’t we all trying to find a way to treat First Sister-in-law’s leg? You shouldn’t worry too much, Mom.”

An Jing nodded, indicating she’ll try not to overthink.

An Baobei continued to comfort: ”Yesterday, as the sun was setting, I saw people from Slayer Tower bringing over a big stack of medical books they had collected from everywhere for Uncle Gong. I asked Uncle Gong, and he said he’s trying to find a way to treat First Sister-in-law’s leg in those books. Uncle Gong is working so hard, so don’t be so downhearted.”
