Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2057: Chapter 2058: Not Tiring at All

An Baobei immediately said, ”Okay!”

Ye Zhi laughed and said, ”I’ll help too.”

”Sure.” An Jing had no objections and agreed readily.

Su Yi Jing, holding Su Yuxin in one hand, led Feng Feiyan into the main room.

Su Yixing pulled Huo Qingyi into the house.

An Yiqing embraced Gong Le and went inside.

Wang Wenya, however, refused to sit with An Yiyun in the main room and instead said, ”Mom, let me cook instead.”

Although she was still learning to do laundry and cook, she knew how to boil red eggs. Recently, she had been diligently learning household chores from her sister-in-law. She believed that one day she could also become a good sister-in-law and daughter-in-law like Feng Feiyan.

An Jing, feeling especially gratified, patted her hand and said with a smile, ”How can we let you cook? In our family, anyone who is pregnant doesn’t have to do any work. You see, your sister-in-law hasn’t said she’ll help me because she’s already gone through it once when she was pregnant with Xin’er, so she knows how it is. When I was pregnant with my three kids, I never did any chores. Now, just go with Yun Er into the house. If you’re really feeling bored, ask Yun Er to keep you company and take a walk.”

Only then did Wang Wenya agree to go into the main room with An Yiyun.

Gong Juechen didn’t follow Ye Zhi to the kitchen to help boil red eggs but stayed in the main room talking with Gong Le and the others.

However, Su Yi Jing, after sending Su Yuxin and Feng Feiyan into the main room, came to the kitchen.

”Dad, Mom, Aunt Ye, let me do it. You take Baobei to the main room and chat with them.”

Ever since Feng Feiyan learned to cook, the household chores had been mostly handled by Su Yi Jing and Feng Feiyan. They never let An Jing and Xiao Changyi into the kitchen. As the eldest son, Su Yi Jing found it unbearable to just sit in the main room.

An Jing knew about Su Yi Jing’s filial piety and didn’t ask him to sit in the main room but instead said with a smile, ”You have to cook quite a few red eggs. How long would that take you alone? Let’s do it together.”

Su Yi Jing pressed his lips together, stopped talking, and helped with the red eggs.

...

An Jing and Xiao Changyi were cooking red eggs for them, which Su Yixing, An Yiqing, and An Yiyun found acceptable. However, letting An Jing and Xiao Changyi do household chores every day and make meals each time was something they couldn’t accept.

They were almost twenty-four years old. How could they allow their parents, who were in their forties or fifties, to still serve them?

So, that day, after eating the red eggs, Su Yixing, An Yiqing, and An Yiyun all joined their eldest brother, Su Yi Jing, in starting to do household chores.

And because An Yiyun was physically weak, even if he wanted to help, Su Yi Jing, Su Yixing, and An Yiqing wouldn’t let him, nor did An Jing and Xiao Changyi. They were afraid that An Yiyun might overexert himself.

Now, An Yiyun couldn’t withstand any fatigue at all.

So, to be precise, the household chores were actually being done by just Su Yi Jing, Su Yixing, and An Yiqing.

As for cooking, since Su Yixing and An Yiqing couldn’t cook, it was left to their elder brother, Su Yi Jing.

Over the years, Su Yi Jing had always assisted Feng Feiyan with cooking. Although his cooking wasn’t as delicious as Feng Feiyan’s, it was still pretty good.

An Jing and Xiao Changyi found it both gratifying and amusing that their sons unanimously refused to let them do any work and only wanted them to enjoy life. They didn’t think they were that old.

Cooking and doing chores weren’t tiring for them at all.

Really.

On this day, sitting under a tree for shade, An Jing watched her sons in the yard picking vegetables and preparing to cook. She couldn’t help but turn to Xiao Changyi with a smile and ask, ”Husband, are we really that old?”
