The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1587: Chapter 636: I Won

In the private room, besides George Charles Morgan, there were five people.

One of them was Charles’s accompanying butler, Mr. Will, a middle-aged man with a stern face and an extremely oppressive demeanor, dressed impeccably in a suit. Although his title was merely an assistant, it was Mr. Will who exerted the most pressure on them throughout the entire meeting process.

The other four people were all senior executives from CJ Group. Besides Han Suying, there was another director representative and... two vice presidents.

If it weren’t for the CJ Group’s president attending an important meeting at Cheongwadae today, Han Suying believed even the president himself wouldn’t have been absent.

Yes, at this banquet today, even someone of Han Suying’s stature was actually just a mere attendee... The other director representative held more shares than she did and also ranked higher on the board.

Such a level of reception indicates just how much CJ Group valued this young man, who was not yet thirty.

To understand Charles Morgan’s status and influence, one must first talk about the Morgan Consortium behind him.

Or rather, all his glory and prominence actually stem from the surname ”Morgan.”

There are many large groups in this world, but to reach the magnitude of a ”consortium,” not to mention regular wealthy families, even giants like Jingbei, Penguin, or Ali lack a little something.

It’s not just about historical depth, but also about their influence on the entire world.

The Morgan Consortium is no longer a single, unified company, but rather a complex, historically rich and profoundly influential financial empire network, with origins that can be traced back to the mid-19th century.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that the rise of the Morgan family is almost completely tied to the development of Beautiful Country’s industry.

The Morgan family originally started with private banking. As Beautiful Country grew stronger, it gradually formed a transnational financial alliance centered around J.P. Morgan Company, collaborating with its allies in London and Paris. At its peak of influence, the Morgan family was not only a provider of capital but also an integrator of industry and a maintainer of financial order.

At that time, there were very few forces in the world that could compare with the Morgan family.

If you have read a book called ”Currency War”... although there are some exaggerations in it, it truly reveals to the common people the shadows of those ancient capitalist families behind nations.

The Morgan family is one of them.

Later, under the manipulation and suppression of the Beautiful Country’s Congress, an official bill was directly enacted, leading to the Morgan Consortium splitting into two, becoming the now Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan, with their influence no longer as it was. Yet the name ”Morgan” remains a significant presence in the minds of many in the financial world.

Even now, as the Morgan family gradually fades into the background in modern times, many still suspect whether the split and decline of the Morgan family was merely a play they directed themselves, aiming to dispel certain iron-fisted political entities’ concerns and the public’s panic...

Regarding this issue, Han Suying actually has some kind of answer in her heart.

Why is CJ Group so respectful to the Morgan family, and what is Charles’s purpose in visiting CJ Group?

In the eyes of outsiders, the reason why CJ Group split from its parent company, the Samsung Group, in the first place was due to internal strife within the Lee Family. After the founder passed away, the two brothers went their separate ways, resulting in the subsequent CJ Group and Samsung Group.

But Han Suying, who is aware of some of the inside story, knows very well that this was merely a smokescreen. The real fundamental reason for the split between CJ Group and Samsung Group... was the internal strife among the Beautiful Country’s financial tycoons.

The Korean economy’s ability to take off was originally because it had Beautiful Country backing it. Behind Samsung Group’s complex ownership structure is a reflection of the major financial tycoons of Beautiful Country.

Though reluctant to admit it, Han Suying knows:

”The leading family of their largest group in Korea, is very likely just a puppet propped up by the financial tycoons.”

This kind of idle talk on the internet by ordinary people is actually, in some sense... the truth.

Back then, it was due to a conflict of interest between the Mellon Consortium and the Morgan Consortium, both from Beautiful Country, that led to the later split between CJ Group and Samsung Group, after coordination by other consortia.

In other words, the largest shareholder behind CJ Group at present is the Morgan Consortium.

The only thing that puzzles Han Suying a bit is, even though it’s the third son of the Morgan Consortium visiting this time, Charles is essentially just a junior, yet the board’s attitude seems overly attentive.

She just received a call from the president, inquiring about the reception situation. But logically, given the president’s status, there should be no need to be so courteous to a junior.

If it were one of the few power-holders within the Morgan family, it would make more sense...

As Han Suying was thinking this, she heard Ding Junxian, the top-ranking vice president in CJ Group, raising his glass with a hint of probing and asking:

”Mr. Charles, I heard that last month you attended the financial summit in Europe as a representative for Mr. Smith. Is that true?”

Upon hearing this, Han Suying was momentarily stunned before she quickly realized who Vice President Ding was referring to as ”Mr. Smith.”
